there should be a tech sheet in the control housing the sheet will take you through a diagnostic procedure. I think it will be a problem in the dryness control, it thinks the cloths are dry and shuts off the Dryer. I think when air fluff is selected the control is bypassed. Dont just replace the control though they are pricey.

My Kenmore Elite gas dryer model 11072942100 won't stay running when any temperature is selected. If I have it set to fluff/air it will run all day. When I select a temperature the ignitor glows, gas kicks on and the dryer starts to heat. It will run for about 10-30 seconds and then everything shuts off, the dryer stops running. I can push the button again immediately and the dryer will run again, ignite gas then shut off shortly after. Even if I wait an hour or two, it still does the same thing. I have already replaced the thermistor and coils. Any other ideas?

if your model has the metal strips that sense the moisture in the clothes it may simply need cleaning. Look in the drum and towards the lower right side in the front just below where ther lint screen goes. there may be two metal strips 3-4 inches long about 1/4 inch apart, put some rubbing alchol on a rag and wipe those strips clean.

The timer will count down on the timed cycle reguardless of the heating cycles. The auto side of the timer will cut power to the timer motor during the heat cycle and when the thermostat stops the element once the operating temperature is reached the time motor will start to move, then when the temperature drops and the thermostat resets to turn the element back on the timer motor again stalls until the operating temperature is again reached. the cycling thermostat may be turning off the element but not switching to power the timer motor when operating temperature is reached.

I have a similar problem with my kenmore 700 dryer. The timer does not "count down" and the buzzer does not work on the Auto Moisture Control side of the timer. However on the right side of the switch, the two settings work properly and the buzzer works as well. One note, the dryer is heating up fine as of now. I just changed the rollers, belt and idler pulley yesterday. What could be wrong?

Disconnect the exhaust and run the dryer venting into the living space for no more than ten minutes.Do not open the door during this test.If the heater does not shut off during this test, the vent tubing to the outside will have to be cleared. We see this most often in "town house" i.e. multiple story buildings, but it can also happen in single level residences and may require a re-design of the vent tubing. The help of a plumber or HVAC professional may be needed.

If you set the Dryer for a auto dry setting, the timer won't work if the heat element is not working properly. If you have too long a vent run ( check your owner's manual for proper venting) anyway the Dryer must have proper venting and air flow for proper auto timer setting. and if the heat ellement is not working the timer will run down to the last 10 minutes, and stall on a timed dry setting. you should not be running a Washer or Dryer when you are not in the home or are sleeping.

Our KM 700 series electric dryer is a little over 2 years old and the timer stopped working. I got up for work one morning and and the dryer was still running. We're so lucky the house didn't burn down. Our previous KM dryer lasted 15+ years and never needed a timer. Cheap parts? Maybe so, but this is definitely not one of the quality products my parents used to buy at Sears.

I've read similar stories about the timer dying on several blogs. Why doesn't Sears recall or offer to replace the timers? I'll certainly think twice before purchasing another Kenmore dryer (and probably other KM appliances).

Most likely a restriction in the vent tubing between the dryer and the outdoors. To verify this, remove the tubing from the dryer and run it for no more than 10 minutes.See if the heater stays on.If it does, you need to find the clog or collapsed tubing.Sadly,I find builders give little thought to proper vent design.

I take for granted that you clean your lint screen before every load.

remove the service panel on the front. there are 2 spring clamps that are in the gap under the door, you can slide a putty knife along the seem until you feel the clamp interfer with the sliding tool then insert the tool in an upwrd motion to depress the clip and the door top will pull out. not you can watch the burner operate. the ignitor will glow bright orange, when it is bright orange you will hear a click. This is the flame sensor on the side of the burner shutting off the ignitor and the gas will ignite. After a short time the dryer will reach the hi-limit of the heat cycle. When the control calls for more heat at the lower end of the heat cycle, the ignitor will again glow and cause the flame sensor to click and the gas once again will flow. If the flame switch just clicks and the flame does not light but just cycles the ignitor on and off then you have an intermitent holding coil on the valve. The coils come in a kit with both coils so you can just change them both.
