:D I just joined Anytime Fitness a few weeks ago and I go every other day. Though last night my husband asked if I could stay home with him to watch one of our TV shows together because he's been working till midnight every night and we haven't had any true together time lately. And tonight one of my friends is coming over and when we hang out together we're always together until around 2-3am so I won't be able to go tonight either probably. :(

I had a little trouble this year getting back to my walking routine. I was the person at the park sitting on the bench watching everyone else walk or run past me. The nerve of them making me feel guilty about relaxing a bit longer. However, in the last few weeks, I think I've "woken" up so to speak and I'm slowly catching up. So for those of you who still haven't gotten out and about yet, there is still hope for you. In the meantime, don't let the dust from my walking get in your eyes.

That would be nice!! If you want to be forced to lose the weight you could get a dog or baby sit some toddles... No joke, you chase them around a few times a week and you will notice it lol. And walking a dog every day twice a day is required so you have to do it, there is no telling him you are too tierd.

I would say get a few free weights, a resistance band, a balance ball and a yoga mat. You will have enough to start. Then just work out a little everytime you are watching TV, soon you will either be in great shape or stop watching TV :D

Another thing I enjoy in the winter is Playing the Nintendo Wii Wii Fit and EA's NFL Training Camp. They get you moving and its all customizable so you can skip the running if you want. They are fun and get your heart rate up (NFL Training camp has a monitor to make sure of that).

Well, I guess I fit your "young" category. For at least a couple more months. Then I hit that 30 yr mark which makes the teenagers I work with say is "old". Guess according to them it's time to look into that retirement community and into a good surgeon for my knee replacement.

It's going to take more for me to lose those pounds than someone 10 yrs younger. Why is it so easy to add on the pounds and so are to lose it? Wouldn't the world be great if it was the other way around?

Well, what I had in mind was, say, anyone under thirty. Most of them still have tiime to either lose pounds while it is not as difficult, or plan to eat rigtht so as not to gain any.

Taking it literally, I guess it would be anyone younger than myself, which is 72! (When you reach my age, almost everyone is young.) LOL

Great advice, Laurel! I track every bite on SparkPeople and it does add up fast, but it keeps me in check and totally helps me to decide whether something is worth it or not, caloriewise.

And when you start keeping track of your calorie intake, it is amazing how fast they add up! That's good advice Laurel.

I might add this also, to all the younger folk, if you don't start paying attention to your weight while you are younger, it is much harder to control when you get older! I say this from experience. I have lost 18 pounds in the last six to eight months, and it has been a hassel. I need to get rid of at least 50 more and it ain't easy!

I would also add that writing everything you put in your mouth is helpful when trying to cut calories, and track how much water you are drinking. Drink tons of water! : ) I have found that when I actually take the time to record how many calories I'm taking in, I am less likely to eat two cookies & eat only one if I really want it because I realize how many calories it will take to burn it off. I LOVE to eat, I mean I really love it. Putting down the food is hard for me, but tracking everything I eat is a good way to hold myself accountable!

I am a big fan of P90x, a home dvd workout program. When I purchased the set, it was around $100, which is an investment, but considering the cost of a monthly gym membership in many areas, it's worth the investment. The 12 dvd program is a total body workout, including cardio, abs, upper & lower body, as well as core work. Every single exercise can be modified & might be just the program for you! I enjoy the back to basics routine of this program.

Good luck on this journey! It's really a challenge, I know myself. Something I struggle with daily. Keep up the motivation & best wishes to better health!!
