This is a great discussion! My favorite is ALWAYS mashed potatoes!!!...ok to be honest any kind of potato dish I love all of them so much! If anyone makes any unique potato dishes every year send along a recipe I would love to try making it myself.

"Excluding turkey". My favorite would be homade "Punkin pie ".

As indicated here, many say that Thanksgiving is their favorite holiday, and while we should be thankful for what we have every day, there is nothing wrong with setting aside a special day to reflect and be thankful for our blessings. It is just a shame that between Halloween and Christmas, Thanksgiving as of late is almost overlooked commerically because basically, the only purchases one makes for Thanksgiving is for the dinner table..

haha! You got it GardenTractor, down to a Science, and I am particular about my cranberry sauce too - no actual cranberries in it, just give me the solid cylinder out of the canned sliced up ha! It really is my favorite holiday. A good time of the year to reflect on all you really are grateful for and how to pay that forward.

Sounds like you have it down to a science. Did your parents like to play steam shovel with you when you were little? In case you don't understand what steam shovel is; the fork is the steam shovel and the food gets scooped up. LOL! Remember, all the food ends up in the same place.

Homemade cheese cake with graham cracker crust and cherries on top, mud pie, hot turkey sandwiches day after Thanksgiving, a little cranberry sauce, squash, mashed potato, stuffing, turkey, black olive all on the same fork for the same bite:)...oh and gravy, let's not forget the gravy. Bring on Thanksgiving, it is my favorite holiday!!

I love the leftovers, the best, but my wife makes some mean pies, that I just cannot stay away from. Her homemade pecan pies (we pick out pecans from my grandfather's trees, he planted when we were all little kids) are to die for :)

Stuffing is my favorite also. I literally become a stuffed "turkey" myself by the end of the Thanksgiving meal. I also eat plenty of leftovers the next day too.

Dressing, stuffing whatever you want to call it. My grandma made it best, but she passed away, my mom's is a very close second, good thing she was taught now to make it before her mom passed away. I can eat platefulls of it!

Hey AG, I found this one online apple crisp recipe and have used it a few times and I love it!! It got 5 stars with over 500 reviews on the webpage where I found it. Hope this helps!

Ingredients

10 cups all-purpose apples, peeled, cored and sliced
1 cup white sugar
1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 cup water
1 cup quick-cooking oats
1 cup all-purpose flour
1 cup packed brown sugar
1/4 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 cup butter, melted

Directions

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degree C).
Place the sliced apples in a 9x13 inch pan. Mix the white sugar, 1 tablespoon flour and ground cinnamon together, and sprinkle over apples. Pour water evenly over all.
Combine the oats, 1 cup flour, brown sugar, baking powder, baking soda and melted butter together. Crumble evenly over the apple mixture.
Bake at 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) for about 45 minutes
