Garage displays in stores

I resently visited a Sear's tool's department looking for a way to design my garage. I wanted to have the man's dream of a perfect garage with tool chest's, hanging tools, the work's. If Sear's would have had a display of a garage as an example to go by with features that could be added or even a book with many types of set-up's I would have been sold on the spot. The most treasured place in a man house is the garage. The display should look like a working garage the walls, and the floor. Am I the only one that thinks like this? I need to hear more from other guy's or girl's. Derek

I purchased a Jawhorse this spring for a 5 month project we are just wrapping up. It is one of the best tools I own, it is functionally a great product, but for me it saves me money and time. It certainly doesn't hold all items, but when you want to saw, drill, clamp or sand various projects it is the perfect 1 man tool.

Hi, Knottyet, strangely enough, I am the designer, (and of the Jawhorse also) and I am not the least embarrased.

I presume you have not actually tried the clamp as it works perfectly for it's intended function, VERY securely holding a 2x4 or the edge of a door.

It's not intended to clamp everthing, that's a job for the Jawhorse. But it will do exactly what we claim and demonstrate on the video's.

Regards

Warren

The stand portion of this devise is excellent. The clamping mechanism however should embarrass the designer as well as Rockwell. It is a flimsy devise based on a small carriage bolt and a plastic knob held in place by a small sheet metal clip.

The function of the rear tray is hold things you intend to obscure by piling other things on the main part of the bench. The rear tray is intended to promote nostalgia. It holds items that cause you to say "Gosh, I bought that five years ago and I completely forgot about it. It's still in the original packaging."

The most useful feature on a work bench would be a top with a timer on it that would periodically dump all the stuff on it into a large bin below the bench. That way the bench top would be clear instead of serving its usual function as a large shelf.
