Ok.

With new deluxe handsaws going for as much as 225 dollars a piece, I'm... looking at some of my old saw restore "someday" saw projects with new interest.

This here tool could cost as much as $225 now...

And, no, the chances of "getting" that much money for an old handsaw is slim, to none.

Oh, those things make so much noise!

Don't you want to go zuba... zuba... zuba... for 5 to 10 minutes?

We still got old crosscut loggers' saws around.

I wonder why the old "pit" rip saws seem to never be found, no where?

Ok.

I found some Merican made hand saws, made to old-world, by-gone days standards, complete with fancy wooden carved handles and wonderful quality steel.

Only $225 each, with three types of saws available.

What...

I LIKE my old Disston handsaws, MUCH more better, now!

Framing Square Level

I found a new pattern Veritas bubble level, that is made to attach to a Carpenter's Framing square to provide level and plumb readings in the Lee Valley Tools catalog, for only $23.50.

It is reminiscent of the old cast-iron Stanley attachable bubble level, but made of lighter material, probably with the industry standard polycarbonate plastic level bubble vials.

A nice tool to have in a "pinch" the check for level.

Plane Screwdriver

Would you believe a screwdriver JUST for adjusting the Cap Iron Screw of metal and transitional bench planes?

Uh-huh...

The handle is made of WOOD.

It is designed to grip the whole (up to 21/32 inch wide) cap screw of a plane, to adjust the space between a plane's cap iron and the end of its cutting blade, or to swing-off the whole cap iron to sharpen the blade.

Lee Valley has it for only $14.50.

A very unique tool and an excellent gift!

I wish my family read these posts...

Bit Brace

The 2010-2011 Tool Headquarters catalog carries one model of Carpenter's bit brace.

It's a fairly high-quality one, at $129.99.

Luckily, I already have a few bit braces of my own, already.

At least one of them is a Craftsman bit brace.

And, I got the auger "bits" that fit into the braces, too!

I've got a standard solid center set of Irwin Auger bits.

And, then there's the finer boring Jennings pattern set of bits, in the special wooden storage box.

I made a second "duplicate" wooden box for a set of scotch-auger pattern bits I ordered from England.

But, sadly, the company had discontinued the manufacture of these hardwood boring auger bits before my order could be delivered...

Large Draw Knife

I missed my opportunity to own and use a draw knife that was 18 inches wide!

The common size is 12 inches wide.

OSH was selling this monster draw knife "new" for $49.99 and, of course, I was going to "get-around" to buying it...

When Sears took over controlling interest in OSH's public stock offering, Inventory "changed" and the more esoteric items left all of the buildings in a quick/hurry and I didn't see a single item on clearance sale, neither.

Over the years, I have gotten a LOT of very special tools from OSH.

So, for the most part, the esoteric tools vanishing were pretty much all "sometime-later" items.

Oh! It's off to the Funny Expressions post! I got a Nother.
