Put the washer through two whole cycles of detergent, bleach and hot water. To get the bleach out use de-chlorinator available at any pet fish section of most grocery or pet stores. Put several drops in each compartment as well as the washer and run through again with just water.

Whenever we use bleach, we have found that the washer retains the bleach after the load is done and causes bleach spots on subsequent loads. We have "rinsed" the washer multiple times by running the "sanitary" wash cycle a few times after a bleach load but the bleach is still there. It ultimately goes away but only after it has ruined clothes in multiple loads.

The same situation happens when we wash a heavily dyed garment for the first time i.e. a red christmas table cloth. 5 loads after washing the table cloth, dye is still coming out onto subsequent loads. We are restricting ourselves to only doing darks so we don't damage clothes but I am inserting a new white rag in each load to test if the dye is gone. 6 loads later, the "test" white rag is turninbg pink. I need to do whites and lights now but I don't dare risk it. What do I do???

I purchased the HE top loading Maytag bravos and matching dryer in June. It was a rough start because the first machine delivered had the softener dispenser kept filling with water. Sears took it back and delivered another washer, but that one was damaged -dented on the left front. I was offered a price reduction but declined because I bought the set "new" and did not want a scratch & dent appliances for $1500. So Sears sent out a third machine. It is running well and I am pleased with the washer's performance. I appreciate the customer service department and their efforts to make this purchase right.

I had the control board replaced due to the F-1 issue recall, now, about 3 moths later, the washer will turn on by itself, start flashing lights and beep...beep..beep...what is my next step?? Should I be paying to have Sears fix this, or is it another (F-1 type) issue they should resolve?

Our nine year old Kenmore/Whirlpool HE3 high efficiency washing machine does an outstanding job. We use Sears Ultra Plus laundry detergent "stain fighting formula" and spot treat stains with a pre-wash stain remover like Shout. We also use dryer sheets instead of liquid fabric softener as long term use of the liquid softener is a cause of foul washer odor. Have never had problems with clothing odor after washing. I also dislike top load washers because of the center agitator, and will only use the front load "HE"washer!

Sad to learn that 'High Efficiency' essentially just means using less of everything for the actual load of laundry but not getting the laundry as clean isn't it? Then you have to add in the time and cost of the cleaning cycles, not such a good deal after all is it?

Wow! It is sad to learn that High Efficiency machines aren't really highly effecient and that my problem is a common problem among many. Learned that one the hard way!

As for the water, No, I am not in a water restricted area and I wasn't looking to reduce my water bill (it is the least expensive bill I have). I just wanted a large capacity washer and dryer that could handle bulky items such as comforters. I also liked the idea of not having an agitator, which would reduce damage to my delicate fabrics. The less water usage/cheaper utility bill was probably just part of the sales pitch to help the customer justify spending more money on the washer, thereby reducing buyer's remorse. I didn't care how the washer got the job done, as long as it could do so safely, quietly and effectively.

Are you in a water restricted area? If not, then why do you need to scrimp on water? If everyone saves too much water the utilities will not make any money and will raise rates. So we will be paying the same amount of money for less water. I pay about $2.00 for 1000 gallons of water, check your rates you are probably paying less than the propaganda would have you believe.

Does anyone else have a similar situation?

I have owned this washer less than 60 days and I am already disappointed.

The washer does not thoroughly clean clothing, nor does it remove odors from clothing (specifically sweat from workout clothing). Also, use of the fabric softener dispenser leaves tan stains on white clothing and linens.
I have read the owner's manual thoroughly and followed directions. I use the proper HE laundry products. I wash clothing daily so stains and/or odors will not set in. I have removed the detergent/fabric softener dispenser drawer 3 times and thoroughly cleaned it. I have also performed the recommended washing machine cleaning cycle twice, using the recommended product.
To prevent the stains, I have tried diluting the fabric softener and I am hoping that it helps. For the odor, I had to wash the clothing on the heavy duty cycle 3 times and use the water plus feature (which requires standing and waiting for the washer to fill, pausing the cycle and pressing and holding the "Extra Rinse" button until the chime sounds and resuming the cycle). So much for modern conveniences!
I understand that the concept of a high efficiency washer is to use less water and energy and still get the job done, but that concept is simply not working when put into action. So, is there a way that I can get my HE washing machine to permanently use more water to get my clothes clean(contradictory, I know) without having to wait for the magic moment to use the water plus feature? What if I wanted to use the "Delay Wash" option and needed the extra water? Would I have to go back to the laundry room at the precise moment in order to complete the process required for the water plus option?

Try running some of the front load Washer cleaner through the machine, if you have a clean Washer cycle use that. If no clean cycle just run empty with the Normal/ hot water selection. Run empty with only the cleaner. Be sure not to use the spongy sheets with soap and rinse aid already in the sheets, even if the claim to be HE they cause problems.
