L.T.D.. I look at the size charts too but I have found them to be more of a guide than the absolute truth. Some shape wear, I've had to go a size up to get something that I can get on, not to mention - get on comfortably. In some tops I can wear an L in others I have to go to a XXL. It all depends on how it is made. Skirts are from M to L or 14 to 16. There seems to be no rhyme or reason to the sizing of ladies clothing. Bras 40C to 42D go figure. I read all the posts on Vanity Fare running a size large so I picked up a size smaller and they fit perfectly. I'd like to thank everyone for the words of wisdom in that area. Unfortnately I don't have the hips to properly fill out panties. Thanks CDinVA

For future reference, watch the Kmart ads for great sales on both the Hanes and Fruit of the Loom brands. I myself prefer the Hanes because they are more comfortable but both brands do come in a variety of styles for both men, women, and children.

I think you are so so correct about the sizing ,alot of it depends on the person and their individual shape and clothing styles. I have fond it so much easier to order lingerie,(nylon panties,shapewear,and camisoles),by hip size or torso size(med., lg.,so on)alot of this is knowing if you are a large person or not,be honest with yourself,enjoy the dressing ,the feel of the fabric,and the wonderfull fit of quality clothes and how nice you feel in what you choose,,,,,,,,,,,,talk to you soon,,,,,,,LOVES-TO-DRESS

If you look at a sizing chart it will give you an approximate size. I have found them to be nothing more than a guide. My experience is that no to manufactures have the exact same size. This goes for mens and womens clothing. I can wear a size 36 to 38 slacks and in ladies jeans either 14 or 16 it all depnds on who made them. I don't care for boyshorts, thongs and in most cases bikinis. Briefs and high cuts are the way to go and my personal prefernce is nylon. Keeping that in mind - buy what you like. From slacks to skirts and everything in between it is the fit, style and finish that matters not the size on the tag. I seldom try anything on in the store. I must say that Sears is very good about returning/exchanging and not questioning who my purchases are for.

My experience is that imported panties and bras run small also, especially with bra cup sizes I have also gone to a size 11 panty too

i have found that there are differences in sizes not only with the maker of the panties but even between the stlyes of the same maker. i love VF panties. in the nouveaux style i wear a 9 or a 10. in the illumination line, 10 is tight.

also i have found that imported panties run usually a size smaller. sears vip panties when made in usa i wore a 10. now that they are imported i have to wear an 11.

Again you all are drawing the right conclusions from your observations. Those wonderfully soft, silky, sensuous Vanity Fair nylon panties are more generously 'sized' than almost all other brands. My favorite--the Perfectly Yours Lace Nouveau--is a 'perfectly mine' fit at one size lower than any other pantie I've tried. Anyone considering these great little affordable daily luxuries would do well to keep this in mind.

You all are right in your observations that Vanity Fair nylon panties, especially the wonderful 'Perfectly Yours' nylon briefs, seem to be more generously cut than most other brands. The advice to 'buy one' and try it, is excellent. I've become so fond of my silky VF panties that I haven't bothered trying any others in years. Once you know your size, all you have to do is be aware of any continued 'growth' in either direction. Enjoy!!

Yes they do. I ordinarily wear size 7 panties but found that size 6 Vanity Fair panties fit perfectly while the size 7 panties are too big. But then again this type of thing is a common occurence with womens clothing. For example, most of my skirts are size 16, but I also own a number of size 14 and in one of those I am sure I could fit into a size 12. I also have a size 16 dress which fits loosely and a size 18 which is snug. Go figure.

Thank-you. While checking out a pair of VF briefs at my local Sears i noticed they looked a little larger so I held them against a pair of Olga panties that I purchased previously, size 7. The VF size 7 was much larger, and the size 6 matched the Olga 7 much better. I was just wondering if that was common with most Vanity Fair panties.

I had written to Sears customer service and was told that the panty sizes were consistant (which they are not) and when I asked the question of the personal shopper on chat they didn't understand the question.

Is it my imagination, or do Vanity Fair panties run a size larger? I usually wear a size 7, but when I went to the store and tried on a pair of pretty VF briefs 6 fit best. (I didn't like the brief style, I normally wear high-cut, but they fit) Is it the style? Has anyone else experianced this?

I"m a guy who has a 36" inch waist. I only wear brief panties so I can't tell you about other styles, but I wear a size 7 in most panty brands. However Vanity Fair panties seem to run large for me so I wear a size 6 for them. Conversely, Fruit of the Loom panties seem to run small for me, so for their panties I wear a size 8. Go to Herroom.com and click on the site map link. There you will find a link called "Lingerie Tips For Men" which gives great information on how to size and purchase the whole realm of lingerie, not just panties.

SearsRAWR, on behalf of the guys who are pondering this question I have to say thank-you! It is always great to get a woman's perspective when it comes to panties. You also reminded me that I neglected to mention that I wear a size 38 jean, which are just a little loose, and generaly a size seven is perfect!

Hmm, I'm a female and I generally wear a size 6-7 depending on the cut/style. I can fit into a 5, however sometimes they're a liiiiiiiiiiiiittle too tight. I've tried my husbands pants on and he wears a size 32/30. I'd assume therefore a man around a size 32 would fit a size 6 panty because I have some hips going on me and if I can fit size 6 with my hips, the hips won't be an issue to men. :D

And actually I've just gained some weight over Thanksgiving/Christmas that I haven't lost yet so I'm probably in a guy size around a 34 now and I still fit my same underwear.

Just go to the store and ask the salesperson. Let them explain the sizing to you and pick out a pair. Then let them know you would by more if you could be sure of the size. If they don't suggest that you try them on, ask. You will however have to promise to buy that one pair you try on. But if they fit well, you know your size, if not you will know how to adjust.
