It's a great service! I have used it several times, and I can honestly say it is the best way to make a purchase! Way better than a credit card because you spend money you have, in small increments to get what you want and need. I know of several families who appreciate this program, and use it frequently, especially for school shopping or for xmas gifts.

Dear Robert

Thank you for your response, but the problem I have is that the store that they want me to go to is not where I live. How is it that if you miss a payment or two your layaway will get canceled but if you want to cancel it on your own nobody seems to know the process. I didn't go into the store to put it on layaway why should i have to go there to cancel it. It's incidents’ like this that make you don't want to shop at sear's anymore and I have brought snow blowers, lawn mowers, stove, refrigerator you name it and I have brought it but you won't have to worry about me anymore I have learned my lesson. I guess customer service don’t mean much anymore

I've also experienced problems with customer service concerning a online purchase I entered my rewards # and amount to be credited to my purchase. Well it didn't register I relayed my problem to customer service online, by email and over the phone I received 3 different answers and in total spent over 2 hours to get the problem resolved..all was in vain since the problem could not be corrected and I could not use my credit towards by purchase needless to say I wasn't happy. Wrote customer service once again they did not even have the decency to say a simple I'm sorry. A few days later I made a in store puchase and told the cashier to redeem my reward points..Guess what??? She forgot. Went to Customer Service Desk and they could do nothing about it..I was so aggravated I returned all the items and re-purchased them ..making sure I got my credit.

Well I was in the store the other day and they told me it has to be done online. Now he is saying i have to come to the store because he has to puit it back on my credit card but yet I didn't use a card I used paypal. This is my last time putting anything on layway with sears and if yall are smart you will do the same. It can't be this hard to cancel a layway.

I just skimmed through the customer service section and did not quickly find anything on cancelling a layaway order. However, you can go to Sears.com and point at the "Services" pull down and click on "Layaway". Then read all about how layaway works. Maybe you should try calling the store where you made the purchase.

Ouch - They really don't know what they're doing. Once you finished paying a layaway off, you'll be presented with a Delivery date. There is NO WAY that you should be waiting till March if the product is readily available online AND if they have some in stock (Do they still?).

I've dealt with layaways, and yes, for an associate it's an imperfect system that is a bear to wrestle with. But still, for the managers, and the manager's manager to not know? I'm sorry, that makes me quite sad. Which model was it by the way?

If need be, cancel everything. Ask them to return it, get your refund and act as if it were a new sale. Best bet to be honest.

Please accept our sincere apologies for the trouble and frustration you have encountered with your elliptical layaway and delivery. Stock levels are always based on projected releases from the manufacturer, but it's clear in this case we have let you down and there is a problem. We'd be happy to connect you with a corporate case manager who will help you find a solution to this. Please send us an email to smadvisor@searshc.com to the attention of Scott containing your screen name used here (Stacilee26) & your contact information (preferably a phone number).

So, 2 weeks ago I went to Sears looking to purchase an elliptical machine. At the time, I wasn't even aware that they had layaway service. I was originally going to apply for credit, but went the layaway route instead.

They put everything, the delivery and installation charge, the 3 year service plan, plus the item on the layaway charge/contract. Okay, fine.

My mom offered to pay it off for me so I can get it much sooner and just pay her instead, so we went up to Sears in Oviedo Markeplace FL to pay it off.
First she asks if I'm picking it up tonight, since they do have some in stock, and then quickly rememberd that it was a delivery. Well, it seems that the system won't let her make any delivery scheduled date until the end of March, since that's when the layaway plan was originally supposed to end.

After spending an hour up there on Friday trying to work it out, the cashier and manager took a copy of the receipt and stated that they would continue working on it, something about it not hitting the system yet, and they would call me. The cashier called before the end of the night and stated it would be done first thing in the morning and I would get a call to confirm.

Come this morning, I get a call from the delivery department letting me know that delivery is delayed until the 31st of March. Now they are claiming there won't be any in stock until then. YET, when I go online, I could still order a brand new one to pick up or have delivered within 2 weeks. So...of to Sears I go. The person I talk to, who says he's some form of supervisor first treats me like I'm nuts for thinking that this is way more difficult than it has to be. He tries to say that it's the warehouse and they can't control it and again tells me about the fact that the layaway wasn't supposed to be paid off until March. I CANNOT BE THE ONLY HUMAN THAT HAS PAID SOMETHING OFF EARLY. They cannot hold my item hostage. He's almost laughing, and I go off. He says he will look it up and see what it says.

In the meantime another manager comes up to me since they heard me "getting emotional"...hmm... a little sexist since I'm a female? But at least he was nice and even chuckled and said oh yes, the system just needs to be overidden, etc. But, yet, it is STILL not resolved. They have to do some sort of refund, etc... or try to work it out with the Warehouse to get it worked out, but they aren't open on the weekends so I have to wait until Monday.

It's complete BS that I could walk in and buy this and set it up the same way as a new buy and get it next week, but can't get this one delivered because of the layaway complication. And yet, they can't seem to refund it properly either.

So, screw Sears...if it's not resolved by Monday, then they better find a way to refund every single dime of the order and I will take my business elsewhere and probably even spend more money.

This is so shady... and again, the fact that they are acting like I'm crazy for wanting it 2 months before they want me to have it...well, I'm pretty sure I will let out my temper on someone at least one more time.
