Have you used Sears Online Layaway yet? How do you like it? What can we do to make it better?

I was very excited to use the online layaway feature today.  Then I started searching for eligible purchases.  The process if very tedious and frustrating.  It would be nice to have a category for "layaway eligible items" and then maybe be able to break that down further by product type.  It's too difficult to find things that I can put on layaway with this system.  Guess I will just have to shop in the store.  :(

What you can do to make it better is order product according to items that are put in layaway and make all products except for seasonal items available for layaway

I bought a TV on layaway on November 16. I paid the first payment of $97.20. On November 19 I made a payment of $189.19. I made these payments online. Now for the past 3 days I have not been able to access the Layaway site. Every time I try to do it I get the message, "We cannot access this at this time." So I called Sears Customer service and they could not help me. They told me that I had to go to the Sears store where I would pick up the TV when it is paid off. This store is 35 miles away! So I made the trip. I spoke to an Associate who didn't know what to do. So the manager came over and told me that I had to call Customer Service! When the Associate punched my Layaway order number in the computer, my second payment of $189.19 was missing!

I returned home and called Customer Service again as I was instructed to do. Again Customer Service told me I had to go to the Sears Store.......

So now I have $189.19 missing, I can't access the Layaway site online and I am frustated as hell!

Hi themare-Welcome to MySears!  I can imagine your frustration about this payment.  I am sending this along to SearsCares-they should be able to get this straightened out.  Check back on this thread to see if they have reached out to help.

Thanks for your quick reply. I went on the Layaway site early this morning and they had already straightened out the Layaway Manager Web site! However, I did contact my bank and put a stop payment on the original $189.19 that is floating around in Sears Accounts Receivables. I was able to re-send the same amount today on the web site and I am very pleased so far. BUT, I am out $15.00 for a stop payment fee.

I've had the same problem, except they have misplaced almost $600.00 of my payments and I get the same run around.  800 number tells me to contact the store, the store tells me to contact the 800 number.  On top of that, I notice the item I put on layaway is almost $100.00 cheaper now and the lady I spoke with at the 800 number said if it had been less than 30 days since I started the layaway then I could get the price protection.  Guess what?  the store says thats incorrect and I can only get an adjustment within 7 days of paying off the contract.  Very frustrating process.

Today, again I went on the layaway site and guess what? One again it tells me that "We cannot ......your request at this time." I thought layaway would be easier to do, but since I have to keep traveling 35 miles each way to make sure everything is OK, then I won't use the layaway program anymore and that means I probably won't be spending at Sears anymore. We are talking A LOT of money here.

I am having the same problem as themare said in their message except I paid at the store and online and now can not find my purchase.Contacted SEARS by phone and they said they are aware of the problem.........It would be a VERY NICE thing once it has worked all the kinks out.,but as it stands now I am just hoping I dont lose my purchase and money, not something I have come to expect from SEARS.

I do any of my store lay-a-ways... at the STORE.

On-line lay-a-ways should be done... on-line.

The two worlds are NOT seamless, yet.

It's awesome! I have used it more than a dozen times. Never a problem. I like that I can make payments online. Never have to go to the store untill I'm ready to pick my items up. Love it!! Layaway is the best thing Sears ever could have done.
