ABS wheel sensor

Without a code reader, it will be hit and miss as to finding the cause of the light being on. The first thing to do is to check to see that each wheel sensor is connected. It is possible that when they were removing the struts, a wire was knocked loose.

Many auto parts stores will read the computer codes for you for free, in the hope that you buy the needed parts to repair the problem from there.

If you were closer, I would have you bring the car in and I would scan int for you, but 200 miles to the dealer is a short hop compared to the trip to the DC area.

We just had all four struts replaced on our 1997 Lexus ES300, and when we picked it up the ABS light was on. The mechanic implied the light was on before he did the struts, but we know the light was not so I'm thinking that we don't want him to fix anything else for us. I presume this car has an active ABS system, and would like your input on probable causes and solutions. The Lexus dealer is over 200 miles from where we live and if the problem is simple, I would like to try the fix myself. I just don't know much about ABS systems, and do not have a code reader! Thank You for all your help.

squeaking brakes

There are other issues that can cause squeaks too, besides worn pads. Sometimes we have brake-dust or moisture issues that can cause squeaking as well. Also, sometimes the pads are not secured properly into the caliper, causing them to rattle when the piston forces them against the rotor. This can be either an installation issue, or faulty hardware holding it in place.

Hope that helps!!

Hi mariasjag, really the only time your brakes are supposed to squeek or make any kind of noise is when they are getting worn down and need to be replaced so they will make noises to make you aware of this or if something else is wrong with the braking system. So they are either using very cheap brake pads on your car or there is still something wrong with your brakes. I would definately get another oppinion on your car since it is still underneath the factory's warranty. I'm sure this car was not cheap so I would deffinately keep complaining about it and even write Dodge directly and something will happen! Please let me know if you need anything else! :)

Hi mariasjag2003, I think your problem is that you bought a Dodge! Dodge vehicles are junk and are over priced for as cheaply made as they are these days! My wife rented a 09 Chrysler Sebring when she wrecked her car and it rode so rough and drove worse than a tank and the inside had plastic everywhere! The only soft material was on the seats, and they weren't very much comfortable either! Seriously though, what they told you was the biggest pile of crap I've heard and I would try another dealership cause brakes are supposed to be quiet. I am sorry to hear about your squeeky brakes and I hope they can get your problem fixed cause i can imagine what you are going through! :(
