FixNmowers....I did take care of the pressure washer a while ago....great reminder!

Madgolfer...I used Craftsman Pumpsaver when I winterized my pressure washer, but never thought of running the Pumpsaver through the hose and nozzle while connected. That's really helpful...I'll take care of that tomorrow..thanks!

I winterized the pump, hose, pistol and wand by leaving them attached and holding the trigger til the Craftsman Pumpsaver squirts out the tip. There's nearly a dozen o-rings from pump to tip that will dry out over time. Good time for the motor oil change too.

Good advise, particularly the bit about draining the water. Several years ago we had an electrically powered one and I followed the 'lay up' procedure as detailed only to be greeted next spring with a cracked pump casing. The only thing I could see that could have cause this was water freezing in the casing. On that particular model looking at the casing I could see how a small pocket of water could be left.

Moral of the story, make sure the antifreeze is al the way through the pump casing and/or do not store it where there is not any possibility of temperatures below freezing being encountered.

to treat your pressure washers before you put them up for the off-season. Drain the water & use a pump lube and anti-freeze product to keep your pumps in good condition for next season. Don't leave fuel in your units during the off season. Protect & store them out of the weather.

but neither the limited or non-limited edition applies soap. even stuck allen in to push the float ball several times and still no soap. and yes i have nozzle dialed into 'soap'. arg

Hi 69thunderbird, I've heard this happens if the pressurewasher runs out of gas, the automatic choke is controlled by a thermostat near the muffler. Warm it's wide open, it's a Briggs thing. You need to close the choke manually to prime the engine to restart it. Good luck.

Purchased a Craftsman 2700 Limited Edition Pressure washer featuring "Quiet Sense" (real quiet after you go deaf) and "automatic throttle control."

Starts up great when cold but turn it off and it will not restart until the carb cools down again (45-60 minutes). If you have a big job (which i do) this really sucks.

There's obviously a design flaw in the 'automajic' part of the throttle that does not allow you to restart when warm. Sears is aware of this because they told me to return to the store and advise that i had a "Hot no restart" problem.

When i returned to store they told me to return it to there service center 1/2 an hour away so i just returned the unit and repurchased the cheaper 'non legend' model. I'm expecting the same hot no restart issue with this one since it has the same 'automajicness' as the other but worth a try.

will advise.

would be awesome if a SEARS rep would diagnose and post solution to this defect - like installing a heat disapation plate around fuel bowl to prevent vapor lock?

anywho - will advise if the replacement non-legend model has better luck

My 5-year old and subsequent out-of-warranty power washer recently failed to produce adequate pressure. I dropped it off to my local Sears store and it was subsequently shipped to a repair facility. I was told it's going to cost $302 to fix which is almost as much as I paid for it brand new! No thanks Sears. Now I'm out my $35 "diagnostic" charge. What a waste of time and money.

Sounds like you are on your game Richie. I've seen these little OHV engines lock-up at either TDC or the bottom of the stroke. In a lawnmower you just move the blade to move the piston and free it up. In a pressure washer that's not so easy because the pump is sealed. There are plenty of videos on Youtube for repairing the recoil or a pressure washer if you want to take a shot at it yourself. Good luck.

Used about a month ago. Water comes out of the nozzle at normal house pressure so should not be any excessive pressure in the pump. Either 1) rope start mechanism has issues, 2) motor is frozen, 3) pump is frozen, not allowing the motor's crankshaft to turn. Thanks.

If the pump has built pressure from pulling the recoil once or twice, then it's like trying to start a lawnmower on a tree stump. Even without the sparkplug, the crankshaft isn't going to move. When was the last time you used it?
