Kenmore 14 cu refrigerator/freezer

the new fridges are 134a refrigerant in the sealed system. The reason a refrigerator will not work in the garage is in the winter time the temperature will get down to 30-40 degrees in the garage and in some areas of the country even colder. The temperature /cold control is in the fresh food compartment of the fridge. air is taken from the freezer to cool the fresh food section. When the temperature gets 38-40 degrees in the fresh food section the thing turns off. So half of the year the fridge will be unreliable to keep stuff frozen in the freezer and the proper temp. in the fresh food section. If you want to use the refrigerator it must be kept in a area that is never lower than 55-60 degrees.

I thought someone smashed my light, but later realized that it was a melting blob. Since I thought it was orignally someone left the door open I went through the parts list and made the order. Three days later I installed the parts thinking everything was good to go. 4 hours later I had a new melted pile of plastic.

Today I was given this number directly for this problem 1-800-659-7026. They are shipping parts for the technician and I am to call when the parts arrive. Then call back to schedule the repair.

I was also told to call back after the repair to put in a claim for the $98.03 in parts. We shall see.

we just started having this lighting issue today, after having thrown away the class action suit info that we had received months ago. I have already contacted Sears and made a repair appointment, but will definately contact the number that was posted here; we would rather they repair their mistake at their expense, as we have already paid a hefty price for the appliance.

I have been watching a particular fridge at the Outlet. They usually advertise a % off of the "regular" price. My question is - why does their "regular" price differ from the "retail" price. It seems as if they show a higher retail price, so when they take the % off the price does not go too low. The "regular" price even fluctuates. How is that?

Not at all, but I've been working for them long enough to know how to manipulate the system to the customer's favor. Most of the new Kenmore Fridges are manufactured by LG now, so there has been a change in hands.

I tried to copy my photos but they won't post. I am not blaming Sears, I am blaming Whirlpool for producing a poor quality refrigerator and by now they have to know there are issues with the inside liner of their refrigerators (side-by-side) and the only resolution they have come up with is to band aid it as the technician said; along with two options put tape over all the cracks or expoxy all of these cracks. This is just not right as you know we the consumer paid good money for this product and I had hoped that Whirlpool would have wanted to do right by their customer. As for Sears they should not be taking the beating for the lack of quality manufactured by Whirlpool. I have been a Sears customer for 35 years and have always found them to be a stand up company who cares about their customers; but unfortunately they are stuck with Whirlpool as they are with KMart.

Razzy are you having the same problem with your refrigerator?

Squirt, as I responded to Suz, Sears will only do so much -

Unless you can get a Tech to prove that it's affecting the fridge's energy efficiency or some other feature, it won't be covered. It's cosmetic unless it is causing an issue beyond just being an eyesore.

1/6/12 - Finally the service person showed up at 5:10 pm when I was told the window was 1 to 4:00 pm after taking off the entire day from work. Service person told me you have two choices 1-he can put tape over all the cracks and I asked how thick and he said about 1/16 (picture three layers of tape applied ontop of each other) or use expoxy over all of them, similar to bondo that you would use on your auto. He said (the tech) it is just cosmetic, hello our frigerator is 6 1/2 years old if I wanted a bandaid refrigerator I could have purchase USED, we purchased NEW and paid good money and as I told the Tech. because of the lack of quality we must either accept what you offer or the old saying "Too bad, too sad! Well I left a msg with my original contact at Corporate and will wait to hear back from him.

Hmm - Cosmetics are only covered a maximum of 3 Years by the protection agreements. The question is though, is that a cosmetic issue?

I'd call out another tech to look at it and mention that your fridge seems warm because of the crack. Get that second opinion and have him see if it IS affecting the energy efficiency of the fridge. If so, then that would be covered by the Protection Agreement.

Semantics are your friend, sorry to say, but that is sometimes the best way to get Service to fix an issue.

We had the same problem. The first time, we thought the door had been left open all day. I had to throw out everything in the refrigerator, including $250 worth of insulin. The second time, we were home and determined it was indeed the lights staying on, so removed the light fixture completely. Recalling, the class action settlement form that came in the mail, we contacted Sears for the repair. We've now been waiting over a month for the parts to come in. We're told they are on back order with no estimate for delivery. I can't help but think that if this were a repair job that we were paying for, the parts would have been replaced by now. I've been a life-long Kenmore owner, but after this (and my washing machine that required replacement of the motherboard after 4 years), I'm looking at GE for my next round of appliances.

They called me, and sent their technician very quickly. However, he says that the relay on PCB is guilty, and they must order the PCB that costs about $2 from Korea, to replace spending about $200.

After unscrewing of lamps looks like it cooled down, and started working. I bought a pair of 4W LED lamps and put there, instead of a pair of 60W lamps. I believe it fixes the problem, since light is not so bright now, but quite good, and instead of 1A through that poor relay flows about 80 mA.

10W LED lamps cost $16 now in Costco, it is much cheaper than $200 for repair. for GE I am pretty sure they are even cheaper.

Kenmore ELITE Refrigerator Light Stays On

I have the same problem with our Kenmore Elite. It is a model #795-77552600 and we purchased it new in 2006. This morning I noticed an electrical burning smell coming from the fridge. When I opened it, the ceiling of the fridge was too hot to touch and the plastic light cover is melted. I realized that the lights are not going out when the doors are closed, even though the switches are working and start the fan when pressed. I have removed the bulbs for now. Is there a fix for this and will Sears cover any of this repair? This seems dangerous...

Maytag - Slow water flow after filter replacement?

Our refrigerator is a Kenmore. We were moving when the amber light came on and we reset it. The water flow was great until a few days ago. It cut down by half very suddenly. Could the filter suddenly become clogged with lime deposits?
