Best Toaster Ovens?

Get the Breville Compact convection/toaster oven. It's rated the best toaster oven. It's pricey but you get the quality you pay for. Got mine on Amazon.com for $70 less than you see it advertised for at online store prices. You can get a 12" pizza in it or roast a whole chicken. It's worth the price to not keep replacing the cheap ones.

Our Black & Decker toaster oven, has a metal under-the-counter rack, the toaster can slide into.

That gives you a little extra counter space below the toaster.

I am looking for a toaster oven for my folks in Phoenix. They use it as an oven in the summer time so they do not have to use the regular oven. They have limited space.

Can you tell me what is the best one for me. I have always has a black and decker. I just want something that toasts, bakes, and broils that is not huge. I have a small counter where it goes. I appreciate your help.

The very first B&D toaster oven we bought about 20 years ago was WAY better than the new one we bought earlier this year. It lasted about 5 years or so, and each replacement after it also lasted about 5 years. For about 30 bucks each, it wasn't bad. The newest one has no digital controls, but it is lousy as a toaster. As a mini oven, it is OK.

Takes forever to toast, and then when you take out the first batch of toast, you have to wait for it to cool down before it will come on to toast the next batch. And yes, I follow the directions

Hi Bob...With just my wife and I, I'm thinking broiling more than toasting. To do a couple of chops or chicken without heating up the oven.

We have a nice Black & Decker toaster oven, with big'ol knobs that can easily be read.

I'm not sure if it is still be sold new.

Nothing on it is "digital".

That's "old"...

I am looking for a safe toaster oven for my Mother in law . Counter space is important , most important a timer and knobs she can read . One that will shut off if she has a senior moment .

I work for Sears and before I give you any recommendations, I would ask a few questions on your primary uses for the toaster oven so I could make the proper recommendation. What is your primary use for the oven: toasting bread, baking, making frozen pizza, reheating snacks? Do you have any countertop size restrictions for the oven? Any concerns or requirements for speed of cooking time? Any color or construction material (stainless steel, etc.) required? Let me know and I'll give you my recommendation that would would best fit your needs.

My B&D toaster oven's timer has a "stay on" position" past the off position. It IS very easy to put it there. I have had visitors make a piece of toast and then ask me "whi's that thing still on?"

If you get a toaster oven, line the metal tray with foil to keep it clean longer.

Most of them have an "On" position past the "Off" position on the timer. It's an easy mistake to leave the oven on. Hard to believe they are still legal!

I guess you really let the crumbs build up. We empty ours out every week or so to avoid the fire that you experienced. That can get pretty scary, I would imagine.

They ALL got this cleaning door on the bottom, that lets you clean out the crumbs and spilled over food.

I highly recommend CLEANING the inside bottom of the unit, from time to time.

Ours CAUGHT FIRE because of not cleaning!

I can tell you which one I DON"T like: the Black and Decker Toast-R-Oven, because the first bread you toast in it may toast fine, but when you do a 2nd toasting after it, the oven is heated up already, and the elements may or may not come on to toast it. The thermostat keeps the elements off when it is satisfied. If you leave the front door opened, it seems to work sort of OK, but it seems odd. My older B&D toaster ovens worked fine, but the newest one we bought works rather oddly, maybe because of more stringent safety regulations.
