The panel that sits on a 40 degree angle, from the back rear of the washer top to just under the control panel, has 3 screws alont the top. that will allow the service panel to be removed. there are two spring retainers that you can now acess. they are brass in color. insert a flat blade screw dowm into the clasp. prying in a direction that brings the tip of the screw driver toward the front of the Washer and the handle toward the rear will release the clamps. now you can slid the top straight foward about three inches to clear the guides form the side of the cabinet. then you can over turn the lid and get at the lid switch.

Hi HPenafiel! Good question. I had a similar problem with my washer dryer combo as well. We had to remove the panel where the controls where, which wasn;t difficult and like yours, required a coupe screws to be removed. However, getting it back on was an entirely different story. It actually required a special device to get it back on so we ended up having to call a repair person to come out and do it.

Definitely won't be taking it off myself again!

Anyway, glad you where able to get it figured out!

I'm answering my own question so here goes. You need to remove two large clips on the backside of the washer. You also need to remove the angled front panel over the washer (3 screws). After that you can pull the washer top forward and out. Finally you can easily reach the lid switch (including the wires) and remove it from the clips holding it in place.

The lid switch in my Kenmore Washer/Dryer combo model #: 110.98762792 came apart and I need to replace it. How do I open the panels so I can remove the switch (and cable)?

I'm not sure where to start and which panel comes off first. Thanks in advance for any advice!

WASHER OVER FLOW?

The city where I reside has a gravity flow water system to the town by having city water tanks positioned on hills. My house does not have a pressure regulator most likely because we live on a hill in close proximity to the tank. Relatives that live well below us in elevation have a pressure regulator on their main line entering the home. Both of these relatives had what terryf described with the hot water tank popping off very frequently, Changing the heaters pop off valve did not fix the problem, so after a failed attempt to adjust water pressure, we had the home's pressure regulator replaced and the problem is fixed. The local hardware store loaned us the pressure gauge that attaches to an outside garden hose faucet to check the water pressure!

In my experience the PRV pressure regulating valve is supposed to be located where the supply enters the house. It should not be able to effect stuff outside the house like irrigation or hydrants.

WASHER OVER FLOW?

We had problems with various Appliances failing to stop the water flow, the popoff vavle on a water heater would suddenly start leaking, a Dishwasher or Washer would suddenly have problems. Came to find out the city was playing with the water pressure in town, and had not told the general public what they were doing. A long story short we had to install pressure regulators on our system to regulate supply pressure. This caused many problems as sprinkling systems that use to cover my yard were not reaching many sections, ended up putting in more and moving others because the city would change the pressure every year. Most hardware stores have inexpensive pressure tester you can get to check your pressure.

Watts' stuff has historically been good quality and their customer service has always been top notch.

To be fair,I note that the reviews for the Intelliflow at Amazon are trending highly negative.

I have never used that particular item, but I am familiar with the Watts Intelliflow which seems to work as advertised and looks like a worthwhile investment if you absolutely cannot shut the water off.

I am told to steer clear of the Watts Flood Safe supply hoses. They are said to have a terrible track record of nuisance trips and even failure (breakage) that can actually cause a flood.

Would you recommend installing the "Flood Stop Water Shutoff System" leak detection automatic shut off valves in locations where the washer shut off valves are not easily accessible, etc? Does this shut-off system have any drawbacks?

Even the manufacturers say you should shut off the water supplies when the unit is not in use. There are just too many weaknesses (valves, hoses) and too much opportunity for failure and a potential large expense when they do fail.I do not mean to be discrimanatory but there is a large contingent of females out there who are vehemently opposed to shutting off washer supply lines when not in use.Even my own wife ridicules me for being overly protective, even though i have seen a hundred laundry rooms flooded, and four trailers "Totalled" just because the owners were too lackadisical to close a couple of valves.

The mixing valve is responsible for turning the water off and on/ If a small piece of grit keeps the needle valve from setting properly the valve can alow water to run. If the water stops running when you shut of the house syupply you change the mixing valve. There are small screens it those valves if you remove them to clean them you must carefully place them back into the valve. Some people get tired of cleaning those screens, especially if they are on a well. All lot of people will only turn on the water to the Washer when they are doing laundry and turn off the water when the Washer is not in use. Especially after they went on a short vacation and came home to find a indoor pool in the basement.
