Hi Buzz, probably with a few new holes drilled in the frame and if all the original parts are there. Different models had different assemblys and belts. Check the owners manual at Sears' ManageMyLife.com to see how it fits your model tractor:

Hi Wyatt, it depends on which tractor model the snowthrower was mounted on. Different models have different assemblies, brackets and belts. Check the owners manual for the thrower at Sears ManageMyLife.com, starting at page 12, here's a copy & paste:

Hi DownEastBrewer, a brand new 24839 with all the original parts would still require a fit-up kit from Agri-fab, the manufacturer. Odds are that a used one won't work at all since different tractors required different assembly procedures and parts. If you are handy at welding, it's a maybe. Good luck.

Looking locally at some used Craftsman snowthrower tractor attachments. I know by the attachment fit-up guide that my tractor (917.28974, the PGT 9000) will take the ï»¿24837 snowthrower.

My question is - Would the 24839 snowthrower fit it as well, or any other model? Am I limited to only the 24837?

The best advice I received when I purchased my first mower was to get at least a 18 horse mower and use a mulch kit instead of a bagger option. The mulching blades finely cut the clippings and return the nutrients to the lawn. You don't have to mess with dumping the grass. I live where there are many tress (and fall leaves) and in the fall I might have to go over the leaves a couple of times to get rid of them all.

Hi Counsel, either the 24891 soft or 24897 hard 2-bin baggers will attach easily. The 24892 soft 3-bin bagger may require a grinder to adapt the mounting bracket. Good luck.
