No Suction

That sucks!

I am so sorry. I tried my hardest, but i just couldn't help it! But, seriously, I know how frustrating that can be.

Vacuums can be very tricky and I have found that over time, vacuums do lose suction. I have a commercial vacuum that my wife uses for her business and I have torn that "sucker" apart trying to figure it out more than once. I consider myself a pretty decent DIYer, but those vacuums baffel me. Good luck!

BTW, I also own a Dyson and I swear (I tell my wife this all the time) that the suction is no where near where it use to be when it was new.

What a waste of money...(Dyson DC 25 All Floors)

Wish I never purchased this sweeper. No light. Awkward to use. Half the time when you stand it upright it doesn't catch and falls down. The hose is so tight it you try to use it the sweeper falls over. Only two utensils that are not great. After less than two years of minimal use the motor head broke inside where the roller connects to the side plate. While Dyson replaced the whole head with no problem I feel it shouldn't have broken so soon. The design of the head on the left side has a hook in it that catches things. The "ONLY" thing I can say good about this sweeper for the money is the Ball technology and no-bag whirl wind suction. Most sweepers have the suction and no-bags now so the Ball is about it, but for $400-500 I would buy something else if I had a choice. Unfortunately the value on EBay is nothing compared to what I paid.

Kenmore Canister Vacuum

I don't have a St. Bernard, but I do have 3 high-shedding German Shepherds and this Progressive is the greatest vacuum ever. I have an older progressive which has stood up to the torture it takes here, and is presently in the shop for a minor electrical repair, however, I did want a new one and bought this purple one and it's just as wonderful as I'd come to know.

First of all, the machine will pick up the pet hair in one pass, bear in mind that I have LOTS of dog hair on my carpet. The pet power attachment does a pretty good job, but my dogs don't get on the furniture but they do rub against it, so I'm just judging from using it along the sides of my chairs, etc. I don't use it on my carpeted stairs either. The regular floor beater brush works just fine there.

FYI I have a Dyson and it doesn't do HALF the job my Kenmores do. Don't get "sucked" (pun intended) into their hype. The Progressive is a better machine and easier on your wallet.

I bought a Kenmore Canister Vacuum and it worked wonders. Picked up our St. Bernard's dog hair. It also lasted for 5 years and at the time I bought it Sears did not have the 5 year warranty option. I am going to end up buying a new one as this one finally bit the dust.

Sears doesn't know about their own warranty. I bought a Hoover vacuum which developed a crack in the frame 9 months later. I called Sears and they sent usto their repair center and said I had a 2 year warranty.Once we got there, they said that they don't work on Hoovers anymore and to go to Hoover. The Sears website also directed us to the Sears Service Center. Hoover is now stating that they will charge $20 just to look at a vacuum that is under warranty....Suggestion: Dont buy a Hoover at Sears!

My Kenmore Intuition Vacuum is brand new. With each pass, it makes a 5-striped line pattern on my high pile carpet. Each striped line is about 3" wide. After studying the manual, I am using the following settings: CARPET surface, HI pile height, LO power level. I even have the suction control fully open on the handle to decrease the suction that is creating the 5 lines. Any setting alterations that create more suction, make the vacuum harder to push and the lines more accentuated.

Sears launched a vacuum without bags IN STORE to support it, that's the fuss. Bags are expensive enough without the shipping fees charged by partsdirect. Luckily for the early adopters, the Kenmore U and O work well enough. They're too big, but they seal well enough to do the job.

Kenmore U or O bags will work until they get the Z bags figured out. Also, some vacuums shipped with a misprint on the label. The 30100 takes an EF-2 exhaust filter, not the EF-1 as printed.

I was pleased with the performance of this vacuum on carpet (it uses the same cleaner head as the #1 rated Intuition canister) but no Kenmore vacuum in "brush-off" mode will clean hard floors as well as a bristled hard floor attachement. And since the 30100 has no hose, you're out of luck. For serious hard floor cleaning, you want an upright with a seperate hard floor brush (LG and Dyson offer these) or a canister vacuum.

KenmoreProgressive Glide 30100 upright disaster

I bought this vacuum over a month ago. At the time Sears didn't have any Z bags for but luckily it came with one. Can't find bags for this anywhere, made several trips back to Sears but just a waste of time.Good news is I don't need to change the bag yet, mostly because the suction on this thing is so poor it can not even pick up dust off my wood floor. I also noticed if you try to read the online Sears reviews - they won't work - only has 2.5 stars but I wouldn't give it that. Any bags out there??

re what about Oreck vacuums?

Oreck doesn't rate well with CR and for good reason. Yes they are light and simple, but they certainly lack for cleaning power. A good Oreck alternative is the Hoover Platinum Bagged Upright (Sears # 39866) which happens to be the current CR #1 upright. The sales associate at your local Sears store would be happy to tell you more.

Ive been thinking of buying an Oreck because they are lightweight and I've read in several forums they are a sturdy vacuum. I'm not looking for a lot of bells and whistles-just want my carpets to be vacuumed. Tx in advance.
