How to wear false eyelashes without looking over-the-top

I know what you're thinking, false eyelashes...pass.  I'm not my grandma, I'm not a drag queen, I'm not wearing false eyelashes.  Ladies, I was with you.  I wore false eyelashes for dance recitals and at Halloween and couldn't imagine wearing them with my evening makeup, let alone everyday! I was wrong.

A couple weeks ago, encouraged by a co-worker we took a little break to product test some of the new eyelashes that came in.  We tried full strips with sparkles and the individual ones that can be placed at the corner of the eye for a flirty subtle look.

After playing for a few days we were hooked.  False eyelashes are surprisingly wonderful.

For an everyday look I've settled that the most appropriate option is the single eyelashes.  Dip the tail in a little eyelash glue (preferably black) let the glue get a little tacky and place in the corner of your eye; I like to repeat with two on each side.

This creates a really subtle but extraordinarily glamorous look. No one would even know you're wearing them; your eyes just look a little brighter.

Every girl knows; evening is time for more dramatic and fun makeup, this goes for eyelashes too.

For the more dramatic look, strips are the way to go.  I'm not a big fan of putting strips on the bottom lashes (I think it's too heavy for real life). For your top lashes, get a strip put on a strip of glue, let it get a little tacky and place just on the natural lash line. I like to start in the middle and work my way out, but you might have to play and see what works best for you.

There are a lot of eyelash skeptics out there, but I challenge you to pick some out next time you're at Kmart and just give them a try.

They're lots of fun to play with and it's always fun to try something new!  If you've been wearing false eyelashes for awhile, then you can attest with me to the fun and glamour you can have decorating your eyes!

I have very fine, small eyelashes and have looked longingly at false ones many times. I've never bought them, though, because I've been too afraid of hurting/losing what lashes I do have. :)

I wish I had the skills to apply, I have tried many many times to wear false lashes and unless I get it done at the nail salon for $20 than I'm going to end up with a mess at home. What usually ends up happening is I cant get it to stick to my natural lash line but they stick to my fingers. I've tried youtube.com HOW TO videos also. What wrong with my technique? Any suggestions?
