The electronics' world is never static-technology is constantly evolving. To some, newer means better, but is that always the case? Take a look at some of the key distinguishers for each technology:

Plasma vs. LCDPlasma TV

  • Superior viewing angles
  • Generally a better pixel response time
  • More choices in TVs larger than 50 inches
  • Better at displaying deep blacks- thus enjoying better contrast and detail in images
  • TVs larger than 50 inches are generally less expensive

LCD TV

  • Generally more pixels per display channel
  • Better in brightly lit rooms due to anti-glare technology
  • More computer friendly-have an ability to display detailed graphics better
  • Better for shorter viewing distances
  • Consumes 30% to 40% less energy than a plasma of a comparable size
  • Weighs less than plasmas of a comparable size

While there may be technology gurus who beg to differ, newer does not always mean better. The choice is simply a matter of preference and the lighting conditions of your TV viewing space. I own a 52" Sony 1080P HDTV, 240 Hz, LED. This TV has the best picture I have ever seen. I have it in my basement, where there is a little light. Watch sports is amazing! It feels like you are right there.
