I bought this for my home in Atlanta - I live in three cities and have two cats with another "human" at the primary home. These systems take care of the hair that accumulates on the hardwood and carpet floors so I don't have to deal with it. The house keeper still mops and vacuums once a week, but these are great to keep the place spotless during the other six days a week.
The downstairs is all hardwood with some area rugs; upstairs is carpet and tile and these systems have no problem -they won't accidentally fall down the stairs either. No problem changing levels for the area...

We have almost all rugs in a large old salt water farm with 3 cats and a large dog, Golden Retriever.
I am basically retired and my wife still works so this gives me an opportunity to help take care of the house. The amount of hair our pets deposit requires constant cleaning and the Roomba 530 is wonderful. It does require frequent cleaning which I do not mind at all. I start it, clean it and love it.
All I can say is "awesome". What a time saver!! I have a 9-month-old son, and it's nice knowing the floors are clean for him to play on. But does Sears even sell these? I had to get mine at ******, then bought one for both sets of parents at Bed Bath and Beyond.
I wasn't sure what to expect from the Roomba when I got it for a Christmas gift. Much to my surprise, the Roomba really exceeded my expectations. It's also a lot of fun to watch it do its thing as it travels throughout the house (in a somewhat haphazard manner).
I have wood floors throughout my house and the Roomba works great to collect all of the dirt and dust. It also has a cool sweeping tool that gets into the "tough to reach" corners. I would say that the vaccumm probably covers 90+% of all floor area in a single use. If you run it twice per week, you can hit 100% of the floor area. ...

Also, you are not supposed to use the Roomba on the floor if there is water, so be careful with the bathroom floor after you shower, or using the Roomba around your pets' water bowls which it can knock over.
My Roomba has trouble returning to the base when it runs out of power, and I have read that it is because my docking station is on carpet rather than a completely flat surface.
As others have noted, the brushes require...

When I get back it's back recharging. I find its better to clean out the filter after (or before) every Roomba run. It's pretty easy, just open the door and the dust falls out.
When I first got Roomba I had to clean the brushes more often, but once you get your house initially clean, and if you run it often, you only have to clean the brushes every now and again.
I love my iRomba 500 series I have two dogs and one cat and the pet hair it pick's up is unbelievable
It is quite and get into places I can not like under the beds
It is Easy to clean The iRomba is one of the best investment's I could make
I have had to replace the brushes that stick out of the side they do not seam to last long
It can be pogromed to clean at certain times and it does go back to it's docking station
