Create a Product Wiki

Lot of good advice on repair/maintenance/etc floating around on these forums for appliances and lawn and garden.  How about creating a wiki on here so people can share the knowledge?  I think it would be something Sears could really benefit from -- a community of people working together to collaborate on common issues/fixes!

Sounds like a great idea - but remember this old codger is still trying to keep up with the 21st century - what is a wiki???

A wiki is a knowledge base that is open to the public to add information or edit information, which is searchable by topic. Think of it like an encyclopedia that can be updated instantly by people around the world at any time. Go to www.wikipedia.com to see the world's largest and best-known example.

Thank you BlueCrew - In addition I enjoy reading your comments on the postings in Discussion. You seem very knowledgeable about Sears and its varied merchandise. This is very good and I wish all employees in the various areas of the stores were as well versed as you. By the way I saw the posting of missmow or whatever her name was and chuckled all the way through the various comments. I do agree with you that she was somewhat overboard, but I am sure that was due to her disastisfaction she had with the lawnmower. My tractor is down right now (happened before Memorial Day) but I called the 1-800 number and they are sending someone out 8 Jun (hopefully) to repair it. They told me about the backlog and holiday traffic which I understand. I will keep you informed to let you know if they actually show up which i am sure they will!!

Yeah, unfortunately, seasonal products will have bursts of repair activity (like tractors when the weather gets warm, or snowthrowers when snow starts falling). There's really no workable solution to this phenomenon, because hiring more people just for those surges would mean crazy costs for the rest of the year. Your understanding of the hardships of taking care of millions of customers is appreciated by everyone, and I'm sure your tractor will get back up and running soon. In the meantime, remember to keep fertilizing every 6-8 weeks and watering regularly. Thanks for your kind words!

Hi rstinnett- A product wiki could be a great addition to the community. I'm going to mark this idea as already launched because we have a number of other online properties in place to help customers with products: MySears Community (reviews, forums, blogs, twitter, ideas) and ManageMyHome, Sears.com and more. Keep those ideas coming!
