I have seen several posts in Ideas and Discussion boards where people have posted their names, addresses, and phone numbers. It apparently isn't clear enough that this website is open to the public, and that everything (except private messages) will be viewable by everybody and anybody. To help protect our customers from identity theft, this website has to make it clearer to new members that it is entirely open to the public, and that they should not post their personal information.

Hi! We actually do mention in our terms of service as well as our privacy policy and the discussion boards guidelines that this is a public site and whatever information you post will be public. I've also posted a topic to reiterate these guideline to our members. http://www.mysears.com/forums/help Thanks for the feedback!

Maybe, for someone's initial post, when they hit Send, a pop-up could come up and remind them that everyone in the world will see this, are they sure they want everyone in the world to see what they've written? I don't know, something to slap 'em in the face with the facts. You know as well as I that people don't read the TOS, privacy policies, guidelines, or posts before they start posting. They need something to stop them in their tracks the first time they decide to post to make sure they're not doing something stupid. After all, most of the offending posts are their first posts.
