Manufacturer's websites within Sears.com

A great way for different brands to get their point across about the products they sell on Sears.com is for each brand to have a mini-site on Sears.com.

Interested in a Whirlpool commercial you saw?  Go to sears.com and type in Whirlpool and have their mini-site come up showing the features and benefits and a tool to help you find the right Whirlpool product on sears.com for you.  Sears.com has a small version of what could be with their "Maytag Showcase" when you type in Maytag in the search.

Same would go for Samsung, Frigidaire, Electrolux, etc.

The great thing about it would be that each manufacturer would be responsible for the upkeep of their own mini-site, therefore ensuring prompt updating and well-done production values because they'll all be vying for the customers of the #1 appliance store in the nation, Sears.

Every brand has a showcase for appliances. I agree, though, that if DeWalt, Milwaukee, Makita, Panasonic, Toshiba, Sony, Samsung, Vizio, etc. maintained mini-sites within the Sears umbrella, they could provide lots of information for our customers and lots of advertising for the manufacturers.

when we visit any sears store to verify a specific product or merchandise and we do not sure to buy the product. I recomended the floor associate requeste the e-mail to the customer and automatic Sears sent messages about offers and specials prices for the product during 3 o 6 months. This help us to take a desition about the trade mark and price of the merchandice

I think that this is an idea that makes sense. We try to learn all we can about the individual manufacturers but unfortunately this is an internet driven world. It would be so much easier to continue to educate the consumers just that much more by offering the minisites. Alot of times they think that we can only talk to them about Kenmore, Craftsman, or DieHard's product lines. That's not true! A well rounded employee understands their products and also that of the competitors so that can have a consultation with customers. If in fact they don't see what they're looking for through the internet vehicle, those are lost sales that may not reach the store level or even become problemsome because of the misinformation. Any additional resources available to the associates I am in support of!

This does seem more like a push for outside brands. While good, the minisites add no value to the in house brands like Craftsman which already has a fantastic website. It does sell other brands of course but the main focus for Sears is their own products.

I think this idea would help differentiate Sears from the competition, because it will provide customers with more and better information.
