It would be very nice if Sears stopped cutting the commissions on items for your sales folks. You'll end up driving your talent to your commission because they are willing to pay more for the same knowledge and skills.
It's not done for regular sales, only for loss-leading sales. For instance, the Oasis set for $1499 had a lowered commission because they were being sold near cost. The less profit there is, the less commission there is. That's how commission works. Hot Deals like that are rare, and the only other things that get reduced commission are when there's a hugely ridiculous sale elsewhere that Sears pre-emptively price-beats. Again, if someone else is loss-leading with that product, then we're going to be making that same loss happen. Again, vastly reduced profit means lower commission. I'm not aware of any commissioned sales position that offers equal commission rates for high-profit and low-profit products.
