I think it would be very helpful to employees to hold a produst knowledge meeting before the start of thier shift.  Each employee and even managers should get asigned one prodyct from their department and be able to explain a little about the product to the rest of the staff.  It would be benifical for customer service especially if that item is on sale or featured in magazine's.  It never hurt's to learn

Good idea. However, apparently Managers and Customers alike don't like to see Associates talking with one another. The solution: electronic training and an off-site seminar, called Power Ramma.

Is it open to the general public? That would be pretty cool to attend something like that.

It's held once every year for the Sales Associates. The event is centered around what makes SEARS products tops in their field, and what the various tiers of product quality and capabilities center around for Customer satisfaction with a sale. For example, if you have less than an acre of land and are looking for a reasonably priced riding mower, the Garden Tractors (that do ground engaging work) can probably be not introduced first. But, a zippy 42 inch deck, Lawn Tractor, that is on sale, may be JUST the ticket for this Customer - for years of satisfaction and enjoyment with their new purchase.

Be even better to fire up a different bad boy every weekend....gas up a tractor, lawn vac, chainsaw, pressure washer, snowthrower etc. Call it mini-powerama

That would be so... much more better than focusing on what "we all are NOT doing" to get more better "numbers" and percentages. Product knowledge would be awesome to discuss. With pre-planned sales presenters. That IS what we do all shift long - present products to Customers. Why not practice on one another - in a group meeting, before the store opens, so we're not accused of being "rude" talking to one another - while a Customer is within ear shot. And, with increased knowledge, will come increased sales, which should raise the NUMBERS. Bam! Great suggestion.
