I work at Sears and find that Sears waste alot of money printing too many signs that get thrown away...Hundreds of signs go in the Garbage that is a wase of paper ink that equals Money in the trash. All sears has to do is put up a sign that says take off 10 15 20 % etc. regular price, and or specify which Items are effected. This requires only about e.g. in appliance 10 stratigically placed signs, instead of hundreds of sign changes, that waste time, paper ink and confusion that equates to saving...

You should offer sears and K Mart credit card members a discount on their birthday. It would be fun to go shopping on your birthday, for that perfect new tool item or a nice dress to go to church or out to dinner. It makes someone feel special that you remember them on their special day.

I like receiving coupons by email.  Also, receiving a coupon when a purchase is made at the store is nice.  Also coupons for completing store-related surveys is good.

As an employee, I can't even count the number of times someone has asked me whether we offer some kind of senior discount. We recently had a "Senior Day" which was extremely successful. Apparently Lowe's offers some kind of senior discount like once a week.

Secret Discount Sale

Secret discount.  Customers on your list receive an envelope in the mail with a 10-50% discount code.  Shopper must gather purchases or order items before discount code is revealed.  Advertising can hype the sale.  Most discounts can be for 10%, which in itself will be a motivating sales tactic.

clearance sales that never end is missleading to shoppers

Sears has woreout its clearance sale signs they never end and it makes sears look bad really bad.  These clearance prices at times are not real clearances but simply sales.  Sears needs to limit the use of clearance signs and focus on end of season price signs, as well as discontinued merchandise sales signs.  When using discontinued signs it should be noted that these are the lowest prices to clear out merchandise.

Your shoe department is bad when it comes to marketing; returned, discontinued,...

Having had both the Sears Card (blue) and the Sears Mastercard/visa (whichever one you promote) I noticed that the coupons are few and far between.  Offer coupons for both cards and not just the Sears card.

Make the Kidvantage discount available on sale/clearance...shoppers will feel as though they got a great discount!!!

the most interesting idea I have considered is when a customer (who is also a member) reviews something, they should be allowed to accumulate rewards points - or add to points by a code similar to coca-cola (with a code from a reciept, or online order) which adds up to rewards from the company.

I would imagine that if this system was widely spread, a lot more customers will be interested in spending time with reviews. In fact, to prevent this from going overboard, the reviews and ideas have...

Military Discount

I believe that since Sears is widely known as a retailer that helps out military personnel, adding a military discount storewide would be a fantastic move for Sears.

To make things simple, just give military members the standard Sears employee discount, 10% off of hardlines and 20% off of softlines.

They must be able to produce a military ID as verification, and it can be entered in to the system to thwart conterfeiters just like a driver's license.

It would be great to have a section of the website where one could look for printable coupons to take to the store.  The coupon could be printed off the website.

eCommerce Retail Idea: Taking the idea from woot.com, maybe a searsdailydeals.com, and sell 1 item from Sears, 1 from Kmart, 1 from LE, TGI, etc. Items are usually overruns, overstocks, out-of-season, etc that go up for sale at midnight EST, and go until they sellout. Woot.com items rarely last past the afternoon. Accoring to Quantcast, woot gets 102 million page views per month. The Sears site could leverage multiple retail brands by offering an item from each. A new site in this space is hoopstick.com...

I think when you have a sweepstakes, like the "Extreme Makeover " where participants need to keep coming back to the website, is a great time to catch their attention with sales, promotions, and upcoming events.  Sweepstakes participants are more likely to buy from the store when they know whats going on. Advertise your upcoming sales to everyone ahead of time.

Can we look at doing more events (sidewalk picnics, seminars, classes) for club members maybe quarterly new product showcases or demo days. I would like to see more benifits besides the tool discounts ( I do realy love those) Maybe a apperal line or special personization of some products for club members.

ive noticed "steal the look" signs throughout the store and on the cover of recent ads.  It just made me think maybe you shouldnt tell the customers to steal your stuff, but instead say "get the look" or "wear it , make it your own" something else encouraging that doesnt break the law
