Better Product Labelling

Idea_tail_up posted on February 04, 2012 at 08:58AM to Store Experiences

When I purchase merchandise, especially shoes and especially when I am actually in a Sears store, I always investigate the materials used to make the product.  As a vegan, it is important that I am able to identify items that are made with no animal products.  It is often difficult, or impossible, to make this determination in the store.  And since shopping in the store has benefits, such as being able to actually try on shoes and clothes to ensure a proper fit, I would appreciate it if you made...

more benches

Idea_tail_up posted on January 26, 2012 at 10:37PM to Store Experiences

In the shoe department.  I dread when my wife visits the shoe department and she finds an available bench because she ends up buying 3 or more pairs of shoes. On the other hand, if there´s no place to sit and try on she goes next door to the payless store and buys there. I don´t know why because there aren´t any seats there, go figure. I don´t like payless- cheap shoes.

Encourage the Sales Staff

Idea_tail_up posted on January 25, 2012 at 10:30AM to Store Experiences
The sales staff can directly influence a lot of purchases in the tool dept, if they would point out and highlight their sales items or pick a particular product for the day or week and focus on pushing that item. Plus selling works well too. I didn't say pressure selling, but plus selling. Plus selling is where a customer picks an item to purchase & the sales staff sees what you are purchasing and offers or makes suggestions for items that would compliment that particular tool or item. Example: you...

Downdraft cooktops - Gotchas

Idea_tail_up posted on January 17, 2012 at 04:10PM to Store Experiences
Having just purchased a GE profile downdraft cooktop to replace my old JennAir, I didn't realize how perilously close I came to incurring several hundreds of dollars of additional installation charges. Even after specifically questioning the salesman on any other required materials, labor, or equipment beyond the $169 installation charge, I was assured that everything was covered. It isn't. Fortunately, none of the following occurred, but easily could have. The plug (pigtail) was not included...

Use Security Cameras to Help Relocate Available Resources

Idea_tail_up posted on January 16, 2012 at 10:00AM to Store Experiences
Use the store's security cameras for security of course, but also help direct instore resources to depts that get busy and need additional assistance. Call code (whatever) to dept (whatever). that would shift any non-busy depts to the dept that is in need to handle a customer surge. When the surge is over, then those extra resources go back to their original dept.

Bring back the checkout registers to the shoe dept.

Idea_tail_up posted on January 15, 2012 at 10:36PM to Store Experiences

Can someone bring back the checkouts to the shoe department at the Sears stores. I don't know if these were removed in all the Sears stores all  over the States or just in the Sears at Bakersfield, Ca. but is very inconveniently ridiculous to grab your shoes and go make a big line to pay for these at other registers.

Who came out with this idea and why? It makes no sense but to upset customers. The last time I was at my local Sears store, a customer service rep was hard to find as well, not to mention...

Gave Kmart another try and customer service was okay. But please clean up and modernize your stores.

Prices aren't available and scanners aren't working.

Idea_tail_up posted on January 09, 2012 at 01:53PM to Store Experiences

There are times when the price isn't listed on the shelf but I'm still able to check with a price scanner.  However, if the scanners aren't working and the price isn't listed on the shelf, the only way to check the price is with a cashier.  That isn't always a problem but when the lines are long, waiting only to find out the price is too high isn't always an option.  Can more scanners be put in the stores so there is a better chance to find one that is working?

More checkout availibiltiy or self checkout.

Idea_tail_up posted on January 07, 2012 at 03:54PM to Store Experiences

It seems like everytime I go to either of my local K Marts, the checkout lines are long and the cashiers are tremedously slow.  It seems like they do not care to even be there.  I work retail myself and am a manager and I have to jump on a register every now and them to help get the lines down.  Getting anyone else to help or care at the ones I shop at seem to be impossible.  Adding four self checkout lines to the store and having one person man those would definitly help with the lines at any...

Layaway Adjustments

Idea_tail_up posted on December 31, 2011 at 11:11AM to Store Experiences

I think if prices go on sale and you have that/those item(s) you should get the price adjustment instead of having to take it off of layaway, going to the service desk to return it then re-buy it. I work in layaway and I don't know how many times customers have asked me that. As an employee and customer, that would make the most sense to me. Saves the customers time and hassle and saves Kmart from angry customers.

A Fresh Design for a combined Sears & K-Mart shopping experience

Idea_tail_up posted on December 28, 2011 at 11:08AM to Store Experiences
Both Sears & K-Mart can be redesigned as anchors in a specialty setting that includes restaurants, book store, home shopping retailers and the first ever digitalized custom nursery & exterior shop. The setting would attract renters and home owners across a wide spectrum of incomes for an extended period of shopping, relaxing, and dining. The approach should see both brands through the difficult economic times and position them well for an eventual recovery. New shopping habits for future home owners...

SEARS 1980s Needs Modern Twist

Idea_tail_up posted on December 28, 2011 at 03:21AM to Store Experiences

Very sad to hear the closing of 100 stores, my opinion to the BOARD of DIRECTORS: FIRE YOUR CEO! Seriously, your stores have not moved an inch in terms of style or design, your stores look exactly as they did in the 80s, very sad to hear that you are closing down 100 stores, its not hard to see what Walmart and Target are doing, my Walmart in town, has been updated and remodeled 4 times since its opening 9 years ago, 4 major remodels. My SEARS at the PARKS MALL in ARLINGTON ZERO TIMES. Do yourself...
