It takes a lot to make something great. In fact, sometimes it takes an entire community to make something great! That's why we created Ideas. The Ideas forum is an opportunity for you, the customer, to tell us how we can improve in all aspects, whether it's about customer service or a suggestion for new products. We want to hear anything and everything you have to offer, whether it's big or small!

What can I do on the Ideas platform?

As a visitor, you can read and vote on Ideas posted by members of the community.  Once you sign up and register on the site, you will have the ability to submit your own ideas into the community for others to read and vote on. You will also be able to comment on other ideas as well. 

Is this where I can ask a question?

The community was designed to provide a platform for all to share their opinions, suggestions and feedback. If you have a question regarding a Sears or Kmart product or service please feel free to contact us and let us know how we can help you. If you have a question or comment about the site send an email directly to one of our community managers. Or, if you have a question for the community, open it up in the discussion board area!

What happens to my idea once it is submitted?

The community has a team dedicated to reviewing every idea that's submitted. If you submit an idea, we will check it out. We're looking for innovative, creative ideas to help us get better and you might be the one to come up with it! We're also keeping an eye on the Ideas platform to see which ones the community likes best (the ones with the most votes). Once an idea is selected, it enters the stages of implementation where it is tossed around by our key decision makers who will come up with a plan for making it a reality. How cool is that?

What do the status badges on some of the ideas mean?

On the right hand side, next to an idea submitted you will sometimes notice a "status badge." Each status has a specific meaning. After the initial process of submitting an idea, you will notice a "new" badge. This simply means that your idea was posted recently. It allows us to know we need to check it out! If you see a "considering" status, congratulations! We have taken notice of your idea and have put it in front of key decision makers. If those decision makers want to begin the process of implementing your idea, you will notice a "working on it" status. Finally, once your idea is implemented, a "launched" status will appear next to your idea. 

How will I know if my idea is being considered?

There is a status bar on the left side of the main Ideas page. The title is "View by Status".  You can see what Ideas are being contemplated, and the steps they go through before they are launched.  Check in often to see the status of your ideas!

Does every idea get a status badge?

Not every idea will get a badge and not every idea will get a response. But, we make an effort to read each and every one. 

How does voting work?

Get noticed and help other Ideas get noticed as well! Once you are a registered member, you can vote on each idea one time to help increase the vote count. One vote is worth 10 points so when you vote an idea up it will add 10 points and when you vote an idea down to subtract 10 points. Your point total will determine whether or not your idea gets bumped up on the board, above the other ideas submitted.

Can I change the way I view all ideas?

You certainly can! You will notice at the top of the Ideas pages that you can change the way you view ideas. Right now, you can view ideas by...

Points (our default) – The idea with the most amount of votes will appear at the top of you page, followed by the idea with the second highest amount of votes, etc., etc.
Date – View the most recent votes at the top
Comments - Ideas with the highest number of comments posted on their ideas

Will I be compensated for submitting an idea?

While we do not compensate, we may give you credit on the site if an idea is implemented. To learn more about the ownership of ideas, please review our terms of service. 

What about my privacy? 

We always want to ensure our member's privacy. You can visit our privacy policy page to review the full terms. Once you are registered on the site your screen name as well as your idea will be visible to any visitor.  

What are the rules for using Ideas? 

Throughout the community we do not allow any profanity or behavior considered to be inappropriate. We do not allow personal attacks on other members or posts of malicious nature and reserve the right to remove anything we feel necessary.
