Offer a price scanner in every department

Under Review
Idea_tail_up posted on April 30, 2009 at 10:51PM to Pricing & Policies

It would be great to have a price scanner in every department so that I could find out how much things cost before I bring them up to the register.

Staff at the Sears Store

Idea_tail_up posted on May 16, 2009 at 03:28PM to Store Experiences

I shop at Sears during the week, when there aren't so many people at the mall.  It was hard to find someone to help me in the vacuum, luggage, household goods area?  I think a few more good employees would benefit the store.  Especially the one in Westminster CO!!

Idea_tail_up posted on May 17, 2009 at 08:54PM to General Customer Service

I think it would be nice for there to be more associates available to assist me while shopping...actually, if there were ANY to assist me, that'd be so awesome!  Maybe the extra cashiers could take a few moments to walk through the store when they're not assisting customers, and see if there are any shoppers that look like they could use assistance!

Too Many Questions!

Idea_tail_up posted on April 30, 2009 at 10:34PM to General Customer Service

Everytime I shop at Sears or Kmart, it seems as though the cashier is asking me if I am interested in signing up for a credit card, if I want to join the Craftsman Club, or if I want to take a survey.  It is too much when what I really want is to get home and watch "Lost".  I understand it is part of their job, and these are good programs.  Just a suggestion- only one question at checkout?  That I can deal with.

K-Mart

Please, Please, have more than one cashier and customer service checking people out.  This seems to be a pattern at every K-Mart I've visited (except at Christmas).

More Sale Associate and Correct Pricing on Signs

Idea_tail_up posted on May 14, 2009 at 11:53AM to Store Experiences

I use to work at Sears and we never have enough sale associate to cover the store.   I think there should be a sale associate for every department.  I worked in ladies apparel and by the time I left there I could sale a craftsmen tractor.  Another thing was the pricing the signs where never right to match up with the ads that came out on Sundays.  The fitting room needs to have an attendant with numbers for each dressing room.  You give the customer the number for the room and the attendant check...

Cashers needed

Idea_tail_up posted on May 13, 2009 at 06:05PM to General Customer Service

Most K-mart has a big waiting line at check out, I have seen some people walk out because of this so I think you put in self check out and more crashers.

Also bring back your blue light specials

Offer a customer service desk and a check out area—keep them separate

Idea_tail_up posted on April 30, 2009 at 10:35PM to Store Experiences

I’m not the most decisive person when I shop but when I finally do make a decision to buy something I need to make a fast getaway before I change my mind again. It doesn’t help when there is a delay at the checkout lines.

MIA

Idea_tail_up posted on May 12, 2009 at 09:59AM to Social Responsibility

Made in America, a new product line or perhaps, as long as we're imagining, Craftsman, Kenmore and Diehard. What I believe Sears needs is a national marketing theme for American made products. Sure, sell the imports but at whatever the expense, offer an exclusive product line that represents American capital, handiwork and design.  And a no-frills, non-profit Sears card at 10%.

Dresses Should they stay or go

Idea_tail_up posted on May 09, 2009 at 10:22AM to Store Experiences

I think that sears should keep the dresses after Easter because the prom season, wedding season and graduation season.  The dresses should be available because this is the season.  My daughter is graduating from kindergartens and it was so hard to find her a dress.  Sears had some beautiful dresses but they were only in white. Just something to think about.

More cashiers!

Idea_tail_up posted on June 01, 2009 at 06:55PM to General Customer Service

I fully agree that there should be more than one (1) cashier at the registers. At least on the weekends. We try to shop during the week but sometimes we come in on the weekends and they are swamped. So swamped the poor woman accidentally charged us twice for the same shirt that totaled to an extra $46.84. She was very polite and understanding as so were we. She was swamped! Not to mention tired from a long day of ahrd work! Just a suggestion. We love Sears though!

Identify country of origin for tools in the product description.

Idea_tail_up posted on February 09, 2010 at 09:13PM to Online Experiences

I would LOVE to see the country of origin for the Craftsman tools displayed in the description of the item.  I am one of a growing number of people who shop for "Made In USA" products, and this would simplify my shopping for tools.  I live 35 miles from the nearest Sears store, and do most of my shopping for Craftsman tools online.  If I know what tools are made in the USA, it makes my choice far easier.  Thank you.

Offer Layaway at all Kmart stores

Under Review
Idea_tail_up posted on April 30, 2009 at 10:26PM to Store Experiences

I don’t always shop at the same Kmart but I do always like to use their layaway. I think it’s a little odd that not all Kmart’s have layaway. Is this the decision of the individual stores? If all Kmart’s were to have layaway it begins to establish a new and improved and streamlined reputation for the company. Plus it makes shopping easier for customers.

Womens Jeans in Long

Idea_tail_up posted on May 07, 2009 at 09:37AM to Suggestions for New Products

Why can't I get "long" jeans in women's at Sears? I know I can get them (when in stock) at Kmart, but I can't at Sears. With Lane Bryant closing many of their store's you should be seeing more customers looking for "long" pants in women's sizes.

Save Money

Idea_tail_up posted on May 08, 2009 at 08:08PM to Promotions & Discounts

I work at Sears and find that Sears waste alot of money printing too many signs that get thrown away...Hundreds of signs go in the Garbage that is a wase of paper ink that equals Money in the trash. All sears has to do is put up a sign that says take off 10 15 20 % etc. regular price, and or specify which Items are effected. This requires only about e.g. in appliance 10 stratigically placed signs, instead of hundreds of sign changes, that waste time, paper ink and confusion that equates to saving...

Customer Assistance Buttons in Each Department

Under Review
Idea_tail_up posted on May 01, 2009 at 11:36AM to Store Experiences

With my prior work at Kohl's I experienced an easy way for customers to be helped when there was no associate to be found.  Instead of wandering around the entire store looking for a qualified associate, there was a button attached to a support column in certain departments that, when pressed, would issue a page over the intercom that customer assistance was needed in that area.

After a minute or two, if an associate did not go over and manually deactivate the device, it would issue a second page....

Birthday Wish

Idea_tail_up posted on May 14, 2009 at 08:18AM to Promotions & Discounts

You should offer sears and K Mart credit card members a discount on their birthday. It would be fun to go shopping on your birthday, for that perfect new tool item or a nice dress to go to church or out to dinner. It makes someone feel special that you remember them on their special day.

Update the look and feel of Sears stores.

Idea_tail_up posted on April 30, 2009 at 10:30PM to Store Experiences

I've noticed a lot of Sears stores in more rural areas could use a makeover. Updating the look may help keep Sears feeling fresh and in touch with the times.

Idea submission - 15% off coupon

Under Review
Idea_tail_up posted on May 13, 2009 at 06:11PM to Product Feedback

I tend to shop at JC Penny quite often because they offer an additional 15% off coupon on their receipts when the customer completes an online survey. I rely on these coupons to get the best deal possible. If Sears can do something similar it would be a great service to the public.

K-mart should be able to take Discover Card payments

Idea_tail_up posted on May 06, 2009 at 04:10PM to Credit Cards & Financial Services

Since K-mart is a major part of Sears Holdings Corporation, it only makes sense that people should be able to make their Discover Card payments at K-mart as well as Sears.

Having this ability just at Sears is not fair to those who live much closer to a K-mart.  Since the two entities are very much intertwined, especially with Sears cards, let's expand our customer service and convenience adding this to K-mart.

Automatic Change Dispensers at Every Register

Idea_tail_up posted on July 02, 2009 at 11:38PM to Store Experiences

Sears should consider introducing change dispensers at every register. Walgreens uses these at their Berkeley, California stores, and they significantly reduce wait times in checkout lines.

Drop Media Planing Group now !

Idea_tail_up posted on July 02, 2009 at 11:02PM to General Customer Service

To whom is concerned,

I am bringing to your attention a grave matter regarding your advertising policy and partners involved.

Sears is the biggest client for Media Plannig Agency, one of the world's leading advertising agencies.

On April 1 2009, MPG laid off 11 percent of its US workforce and since has been denying fifty dismissed workers in New York City their right to colletive bargaining. Collective bargaining is the right for workers to negotiate with employers through a union. It is  a basic...

Stop Advertising with MPG!

Idea_tail_up posted on July 02, 2009 at 12:39PM to Social Responsibility

Sears/Kmart- please refrain from doing business with MPG until the company offers a fair severance package to the employees it laid off.

The company has put over a tenth of its workforce out on the streets even though it has maintained growing profits.

Do the right thing and cut the cord with MPG!

Customer service

Idea_tail_up posted on May 13, 2009 at 07:43PM to General Customer Service

I suggest that you have motorized carts readily available for the handicapped to use.  I had a broken ankle some years ago and had to "hop with a walker" for 11 weeks, and could not go into a store unless these carts were available.  Much better than a wheelchair because I could do it myself.  I note in stores like Wal-mart, Sams Club, etc. they are readily available for those who need them.  Much appreciated by them and their families.

Stop advertising with MPG

Idea_tail_up posted on July 01, 2009 at 11:32PM to Social Responsibility

I used to work for MPG until they laid me off in April. The severance agreement they offered would allow them to sue me but wouldn't allow me to sue them and in exchange I would only receive 4 weeks pay, not even close to enough time to find a job in this economy.

When I asked for some changes to the agreement, they refused to negotiate. Do to these callous lay offs in the midst of record profits, I don't believe that MPG is a company that Sears would want to do business with.

Please stop advertising...

Please stop advertising with MPG until they negotiate a fair severence package for the employees they laid off.  I will not patronize sears until it stops doing business with MPG or MPG stops engaging in unfair labor practices.
