Advertise the Seniors Days

Idea_tail_up posted on August 06, 2009 at 05:20PM to Promotions & Discounts

We have a Seniors Discount Day coming up soon, but other than the barcodes at the registers and signs inside the store the day of the discount, what other way is there for someone to know when it is? Sears should be advertising this discount in AARP magazine or Parade magazine or some other publication that seniors tend to read. Even if it was just mentioned in the flyer, or if there were advanced signing, or a sign for the doors, or pre-sale bag stuffers. ANYTHING!

UltraPlus detergent sample packs

Idea_tail_up posted on August 03, 2009 at 09:09AM to Suggestions for New Products

Every washing machine comes with a sample packet of detergent (usually Tide or Tide HE). If Sears also had sample packets of UltraPlus to throw in with a washing machine purchase, it would be a great way to promote our UltraPlus brand detergent. Maybe do little pouches of powder and little pouches of liquid, and let the customer choose which version they'd like to try. Maybe do the no dye/no perfume version, so it's safe for everybody to try. They could retail for a penny and be rung separately,...

Gift with purchase in tools department

Idea_tail_up posted on August 05, 2009 at 11:18AM to Promotions & Discounts

The last gift with purchase that I remember in the tools department (other than bumper stickers and Craftsman Club calendars) was a mini toolbag. The premise was nice, but the fact is that they weren't popular because they were neither large enough nor convenient enough to make for a worthwhile toolbag. They were formed rather than limp fabric, which meant that the bag would always be the same shape. It had no way to close completely, so the tools could fall out at any time if tipped too far in any...

Classification of appliances on sears.com

We are working on this idea right now

Idea_tail_up posted on May 06, 2009 at 08:47PM to Online Experiences

If you look at appliances and sort by color, you'll find models in colors other than what you've chosen. Or, if you select front-load washers, you'll get top-loaders in there, too. And I have yet to figure out the "high efficiency" selection for washers. The appliances need to be classified correctly by color and type, and the classes of products need to be clarified or simplified.

Make it known this is a PUBLIC site

Idea_tail_up posted on May 14, 2009 at 02:35PM to Online Community

I have seen several posts in Ideas and Discussion boards where people have posted their names, addresses, and phone numbers. It apparently isn't clear enough that this website is open to the public, and that everything (except private messages) will be viewable by everybody and anybody. To help protect our customers from identity theft, this website has to make it clearer to new members that it is entirely open to the public, and that they should not post their personal information.

Pebble is the new social network for Sears Holdings employees. First, it was open to anyone. Now, it's only open to salaried management (though I can still login, and there's nothing stopping any employee at all from logging in through the intranet link). I propose Pebble be made open to all SHC employees.

Eliminate the belt-and-pulley automatic transmission

Idea_tail_up posted on May 20, 2009 at 06:01PM to Product Feedback

This year marks the return of the belt-and-pulley automatic transmission on certain models of Craftsman tractors. This transmission system costs less up front, but is plagued with maintenance and costly repair issues (not ours in particular, but the style of transmission in general). While I understand the motivation of providing another price point and another option, this is a step into territory that Sears was once proud to not tread upon, and will almost certainly lead to many customer complaints...

Link from product to youtube video of product

There are currently some videos on youtube.com that show various Craftsman products in use. It would be great if there was a link from the product's page to the video, or if the video was embedded on the product's page. If people could see a product in action, they may better understand how it works and buy it.
