Put your mark on the future of Sears

A lot of people are unaware that Craftsman "Forever" guarantees applies to a lot of lawn and garden products -- such as hoses, sprayers, etc.  Advertise the heck out of this!  Put a banner outside or something.  A lot of people would love to buy a hose ONCE and never worry about it again!

 

Right now you can take your items that need repair to your local Sears store for drop-off (for items not covered by in-home service).  I would like to see this expanded so that you could drop them off at Kmart as well -- sometimes you just don't have a local Sears nearby!

 

It's so frustrating to not be able to find out information on a tool or appliance, especially when the sales staff is helping others. I notice that right now the manuals for appliances and such are stored on the BACK of the item. Move those to the front so customers can flip through them and read them. Make it easy for them to get information, not difficult.

If I am standing in the middle of the store and have an urgent question, but can't find anyone I'd love to be able to Twitter to Sears and/or Kmart on my phone and have an answer sent back to me, or for them to locate and dispatch an employee my way. 

Joe Boxer is one of the strong Kmart brands that I'd love to see in the Sears store in Columbia, MO.  While traveling to Fairfax, VA and visiting the Sears there I noticed they carried Joe Boxer items, but our Sears doesn't.  Since this is a college town, I think carrying that brand could pull more male customers into the store.

 

I want to be able to click on a "Share This" link and be able to share products I am looking at on sears.com or kmart.com with my friends on Twitter or Facebook.  I just saw the new Kenmore Black Stainless Steel Trio refrigerator and wanted to show it off on Facebook but there is no easy way to do that!

Lot of good advice on repair/maintenance/etc floating around on these forums for appliances and lawn and garden.  How about creating a wiki on here so people can share the knowledge?  I think it would be something Sears could really benefit from -- a community of people working together to collaborate on common issues/fixes!

 

The bag design is "ok", but how about on one side of the bag you print something to the effect of: "For more ideas on how you can help the environment, go to Sears.com and check out our full line of energy efficient Kenmore appliances".

Sears is very good at giving away 10% off coupons or $10 off coupons; so why not give customers who come in for auto service 10% off coupons for Sears so they can go shop while their car is being worked on.

For the larger Sears stores, hold events (and let the local media know!) where you host cooking shows inside the stores. Hook up real Kenmore appliances and demonstrate how-to create meals for any budget. Great way to draw people in, and great way to show off the appliances!

As a promotion give away (and as something you could sell as well, even on Amazon and at other book stores) create a Kenmore cookbook with recipes from customers and Sears/Kmart staff. Whenever someone buys a major appliance they get a copy of the cookbook. Throughout the cookbook there could be "fun facts" or product tie-ins to Kenmore products.

Pick a day and be a leader in the green movement. On that day every customer, when they make a purchase, gets a free cloth tote bag. It's free advertising for Sears and good PR. Plus, its just the right thing to do.
