“Nate went above and beyond superior service”
Changed a lock on Sat, and dropped into Martinsburg Kmart for a few items, and some copies of the new key.
After searching the sporting-goods dept and hardware counters, I stopped a passing employee named Nate and was told that the key machine was in the electronics dept...He also offered to page someone to that dept to complete my purchases.
After waiting 20 minutes for someone to show, my wife wandered around to look for some help, and found the only employee within 3 departments...and it was Nate again.
Nate chose to handle my purchases himself rather than make me wait again, despite the fact that he was unfamiliar with the equiptment...In other words, he was willing to give it a try and risk the embarrassment of fumbling about and looking foolish in order to help a customer who needed to be convinced to come back to Kmart in the future.
He did fumble a bit, but he went out of his way to provide superior service...and contradict one of the primary complaints of most local Kmart shoppers: Poor and/or inattentive customer service.
As a manger of a local production company, I've learned the hard way that you just can't teach "Give a ****"...Either a new employee brings it with them, or you hope that they pick it up along the way...but it can't be forced.
Nate is a young employee who is a natural customer service professional, and it's my opinion that the next opening for department manager should be offered to the employee who exhibits the personal and professional character befitting this position...NATE is one such candidate.
