Sears Hometown Shop Talk - Holidays

September 14, 2010 | Hometown Store | 1 comment

Its official. The Holidays are here. My neighbors in back of us have red and green Christmas lights stung across the outside of their house. Today, the Christmas tree ceremony is being held downtown. My kids will soon catch the Santa bug in a big way.  They have already begun their What I want for Christmas wish list, which will continue to expand.

Our family enjoys the Holidays decorating, making cookies, dressing up for parties, and figuring out what presents we are giving each other. Holiday shopping usually helps get everyone in the mood, but sometimes, can detract from the meaning. I like to shop because I like the experience the cool brisk air as we walk from store to store, the jingle of bells from the Salvation Army Santa, and, of course, seeing the decorations and lights. Shopping has its downside crowds, carrying around a big heavy coat while shopping inside, and going from store to store looking for that one special item and its sold out because its special to a lot of other people too. For me, this is extremely frustrating and can zap the spirit right out of me.

Ahhh...the benefit of shopping online. There are no crowds. Items can be found with ease and best of all is being able to shop when its convenient to me.

At Sears Hometown Stores, we believe in Shopping Your Way. If the gift you are looking for is not on the sales floor, well find it for you online, and order it for you. Pick it up in-store and shipping is free. This saves time (and a little money too).  Freeing up a little time is great for me during the holidays as it gives me time to see the sparkle in my kids eyes and time to enjoy the season with family and friends.

How do you shop for the Holidays?  What have you found to be great secrets or time-savers for finding that perfect gift?

I absolutely hate fighting the crowds during the holidays. One of the things I love is that I can now do the Sears layaway online. My Christmas shopping is done -- and the only time I'll be visiting the mall is to pick my stuff up once its paid for!
