I have hard floors and I have cats. The cat litter and cat hair is always on the floor. This vacuum picks up both easily. The vacuum bags hold a lot even though they appear small. I purchased this vacuum during Thanksgiving on one of those early bird specials and I have never been happier with any vacuum purchase than with this one. I had been using a wet-dry vac to vacuum my house prior and this just made it a lot easier to pull out and do a quick job. It does pretty good on rugs also....
