I read Terry Brooks series The Word and the Void and could not really get into it. I have been an avid fan of Terry Brooks, esp the Shannara series though. I had read all his other books but had put off reading the Genesis of Shannara series because it sounded like it was going to be much like The Word and the Void series. I finally started reading it recently though. I found I COULD NOT PUT IT DOWN. The book had me totally hooked.

The series really is a linking of the Word and the Void books to the Shannara books. The Genesis of Shannara starts out quite a long time after where the Word and the Void series ended. The main characters in those books are long since dead and gone. The world though has so deteriorated to the point that the demons, the freaks and the undead have pretty much taken over the earth. About 5 months ago our van broke down. We limped it to the closest garage who said it was the transmission that was shot. They recommended we take it to AASTRO Transmission. They said that many people had recommended them and liked them. We did as they recommended even tho we had a mechanic that normally worked on our cars. Now we are VERY sorry we did that.

They advertised that they would check out your car for free. Well, after doing the "free" inspection, they said they had to do a more thorough inspection to find out exactly what was wrong and that would cost $150. We foolishly agreed to that. Once that was done, they said that they had to do an even deeper inspection by taking the whole transmission apart and that would run us about $450 (but we wouldn't have to pay for the $150 from the other one). Last time I was at the grocery store to buy softener for my clothes, they didn't have my usual bargain brand in stock. I don't like the unscented variety as I like to have my clothes have a nice scent after I wash them. I am picky about just what brands I buy tho becuz I am allergic to strong floral scents. Ultra Downy Simple Pleasures was on sale 2/$5. That was a really good sale price for a name brand so I grabbed a bottle. I got the Vanilla and Lavender scent just becuz I liked the pretty purple bottle. The first time I wore my clothes after washing with this new softener, I was sitting watching tv. I happen to take notice of the fact that my pants were softer then I am used to them feeling. My shirt also was softer then I remember it feeling. Chainfire by Terry Goodkind is the 1st book in the Chainfire trilogy (the last 3 books of the Sword of Truth series). Richard, after having been healed by Nicci from an almost mortal arrow wound, wakes to find Kahlan missing. Not only is she missing, but noone even knows that she ever existed. People start believing Richard is going crazy because he is the only one that remembers Kahlan. So begins Richards desperate search to find out where Kahlan is and what is going on. In the meantime, Jagang is separating his army forces and sending the main force south and around the mountains to come up to D'Hara. The D'Haran forces need to prepare for a big final battle but where is Richard? Prophesy foretells that Richard must lead in the final battle but he is busy chasing phantoms. To add to the mix, Jagang has unleashed a terrible underworld beast that is chasing Richard. It hones in on him when he uses his gift and never attacks in the same way twice.

The Naked Empire by Terry Goodkind is the 8th book in the Sword of Truth series.

Richard and Kahlan are down in the Old World. Richard is poisoned and told that to get the antidode he must help free the empire of the pristinely ungifted from the invasion of the Imperial Order. At the same time, the D'Haran army is defending D'Hara from the Imperial Order army. Zedd and Addie are captured in the Keep and taken to the heart of the Imperial Order army and face the wrath of Jagang.

This book starts out rather slow. Way too many times the author spends way too much time talking about different subjects and not just getting into action. Eventually the action picks up tho and it is typical absorbing Terry Goodkind. Goodkind is a master at making his characters come to life. You grow to love them dearly and want nothing bad to happen to them.

If you have read the other books in the series, you will love this one too. No matter how many books he adds to the series, they all are...

We have a Sonic Drive In right across the street so we have the kids walk over there once in awhile and get something. Sonic is pretty pricey so we don't usually get their food. But they have AWESOME drinks. I am partial to the slushes.

They have a wide range of slush flavors. You can get add ins also. Like you can get a grape slush with lemon. They also have cream slushes. You pick one of their flavors and then they mix in a cream to it. I had never got it before becuz it didn't really sound good. Like a grape slush with cream? Hmm But today Matt wanted to go and get something there as we're stuck at home waiting for our car to be repaired. I have been in the Science Fiction Book Club for years. I first joined when I got my first job. I LOVE science fiction and fantasy books. I had cancelled my membership once but then joined again several years later.

They have a very good sign up deal. You usually get a deal where you can get 6 or 8 books for free. YOu just have to pay for shipping and handling (which now usually comes to around $10 - $15) The books are all hardbacks, never paperbacks. I prefer hardbacks so that is perfect. Then you are obligated to purchase 2 more books at regular price in the next year or 2. That is usually VERY easy to do if you are an avid reader like me.

Once you sign up, you get a packet in the mail about every 3 weeks with a small catalog of books you can buy and any specials they are running. There is an order form you need to send in, even if you don't want to buy anything. If you are not buying anything, you just mark on it that you don't want the featured selections and then...

Nowadays with gas being so high, it doesn't pay to have to shop around for the best prices on things. Many times when I am looking for something in particular, I will try one place to get it. If they don't have it, I go online to Amazon.com. They carry almost everything you might want.

I usually shop for video games or books with Amazon. Many times there will be an older book that I want. I try to look for it at our local used bookstore but they have gotten away with carrying the older books. AMAZON! I always get on Amazon and they always have it. I can usually get it new at a very low price. Just today I found 2 books I have been wanting both for $4 each and both were hardbacks in excellent condition. They had copies of them in paperback for even cheaper but I wanted the hardbacks. Shipping on books is almost always $3.99. So I pd $8 for each book. I just got a hardback book at my local used bookstore for $8. So Amazon meets their price and I don't have to spend...

I used to take my pets to another vet but had problems with the vets. They would tell us we needed certain things done that were not needed and were costly. Vet care is always expensive as it is. When my cat Socks got very sick, I needed a good vet and one that understood cats. I had seen Cat Hospital of Tucson in passing several times. It was near my home. I called them and they gave me an immediate appt (as Socks was VERY sick).

Unfortunately my Socks died that day at the Hospital. It turned out he had severe lung disease. But the staff there was VERY supportive and caring. They did all they could to save him. I was grieving VERY badly and they allowed me to hold my cat after he died and comforted me.

The day after my loss the hospital called to ask me if I was doing ok after the loss of my cat. A week after my visit I got a letter in the mail from them sending condolences on my loss and suggesting places I could get grief counseling if I needed it. After that I...

I have played Harvest Moon games before but on a Gameboy (not a DS). I was never a real big fan I am currently addicted to Rune Factory, which is a fantasy version of Harvest Moon tho. I thot I would give this game a shot as it is a new version for the DS and hopefully better.

So far the game seems a LOT better then I remember it being. The nice difference is that you can play as a boy or as a girl (I am tired of always playing as a boy so that was a pleasant surprise). Your ship goes down in a storm and you are cast ashore on this island that looks like it was once inhabited but no longer is. Another family is on the island with you. They are shippers. Your character takes over the farmland on the island and you can start raising crops and animals, and fishing, etc. As you do more and expand the island areas, more people move to the island and open shops. We have several game systems. We have 2 Nintendo DS's, a WII, a PS2 and a PSP. Games are usually pretty expensive to buy. IT really bites when you buy a game and find out you don't like it. So I thought I would try subscribing to a game rental website so that we could try out games before we decide to buy them. I had tried one several years ago and was very disappointed because we had so many problems with them so I was hesitant to try another. But Gamefly offered a special introductory rate so I thot I would give it a shot. I don't remember the rate but it might have been free for one month or for 2 weeks or something like that. I have been with them for around 9 months now and am very pleased with their service.

Gamefly works a lot like the movie rental places but they only rent games. They have games for all the current systems... PS3, PS2, PSP, XBox 360, XBox, GameCube, DS, Wii, and GBA. They have different levels of membership where you can have one game out...

I rented Sims 2 Castaways for the DS from Gamefly. I'm glad I didn't buy it becuz I really didn't like it. It was very confusing to play.

Your character is stranded on an island. You first have to build a shelter and find where to go to go to the bathroom, find food, place to bathe, etc. I kept fainting becuz I just didn't know what I was supposed to do. Once I did get the hang of it, I was able to keep my character in a half way decent mood. But then you have to figure out how to do different things to explore new areas. I got to the point where I needed to find rope and wood to fix a bridge. I found out how to get the wood but for the life of me I couldn't find out how to get the rope. I finally got so frustrated that i sent the game back. I supposed I could have found a walkthru site to help me out. But I just didn't find the game appealing enough to go thru that hassle.

It was my 19 yr olds birthday and I wanted to do something different. The kids suggested bowling. I have one of the Entertainment books and saw Bedroxx Bowling center. There were coupons for half off 4 games of bowling. It looked like there was a lot to do there other then just the bowling too so we could make a whole afternoon of it at one place. So we decided to go there. We had a really good time.

For a Saturday, it was not that busy. We got a lane to ourselves. If you want bumper bowling, you can get it. IN fact, you can set it so the bumpers come up for certain members and not for other members. I have never seen that before. A family near us had the bumpers come up for their 5 yr old and no bumpers for the rest who were more experienced bowlers. The place was very clean. I bought one of the littermaid automatic cat boxes because I started working full time and didn't have as much time to keep up with cleaning the cat box. I thought it would save me some time. I saw the commercials on tv and thought it looked SO EASY. Well, the concept is good but the actual product stinks!

The biggest problem with it is that when it runs, it is VERY NOISY. The main time that the cats go to the bathroom is at night because that is when they are awake. SO that is when you want to have it run. It has a setting so that it scoops out the waste about 5 minutes after it senses a cat has used the litter box. I don't know how many times I woke up in the middle of the night hearing that thing going off. And it goes SO SLOW. Every time it went off I'd curse under my breath that I was going to take a hammer to it! We started turning it off at night and then I'd end up having to manually scoop out the box before turning it on for the day. But they wouldn't use it...

When the mcgriddles at McDonalds first came out I thought I would try them. I was curious. I love McDonalds breakfast foods. My first bite was my last. It was AWFUL. I just could not stand the sweet taste mixed with the sausage. I am a person that has to eat all my foods separate. The syrup in the griddle cake was just TOO sweet. Separately the pieces would probably have been fine, but not together. Recently my 11 yr old wanted to try one. He did not like it at all either and he is an AVID McDonalds fan. We got coupons for Buy One Get One Free for the breakfast bowls at Jack In The Box. I was out and hungry so decided to get one for me and my husband. When I first openned it up I wasn't sure about it. The sausage and bacon on top of the eggs almost made it look like something the dog threw up. But I got a bite of the eggs with the cheese melted on top of it and it was delicous. I don't know what cheese they use on it but it was very creamy (not thick like cheddar is when it is melted) and delicious. In the bowl is a layer of tater tots at the bottom. Then they heap a LOT of scrambled eggs on top and then the cheese and a little of the sausage and bacon mixure on top. It made a VERY filling dish which I could not finish and neither could my husband. The sausage was very bland but you could taste the bacon. But, like I said, the cheese/sauce they put on the eggs was to DIE FOR. I would buy this again but probably ask them to leave off the sausage/bacon and just have...

I have played other Harvest Moon games and liked them. I rented Rune Factory: A Fantasy Harvest Moon and found out it was even better then the other Harvest Moon games I have played.

For those that have never played Harvest Moon before, you start out on a farm. You have to plant and raise crops. As you go along you can get animals to raise also. Your goal is to earn enough money to expand your farm and woo and get a wife.

The twist to this game is it is set in a fantasy setting. You still have a farm. But instead of getting animals, you can tame monsters in the caves in the area. Some monsters will help you like field hands. Some are like animals... bee monsters give you honey, wooleys give you wool, then theres one that gives you milk (I haven't gotten one so don't know the name). In the caves you can also just kill the monsters. YOu can also mine for ore in the caves and upgrade your farming equipment.

We got our Lexmark x1185 from a Used store. It has worked GREAT for us. Our last printer was also a Lexmark but we were very dissatisfied with it. And that one we had gotten brand new. It would not take the paper and had to feed the paper one at a time. This printer you can put a lot of pieces of paper in the feeder and it will draw the paper out just fine.

The only negative to this printer is that the ink is a little bit expensive. It takes 2 cartridges (color and black) and each one costs around $15 to $20. I go to the websites that charge the least. And it goes through the black ink really fast. We don't do an enormous amt of printing but we went thru a cartridge in about a month. The color has been lasting a LONG time tho.

But considering we got this printer used, it is holding up really well. It is very durable and it prints out very good pictures as well as print. Even buying these printers new, they are very affordable. So if you are looking for a good cheap...

I had a friend suggest Winster to me because they knew that I like playing games on Pogo. I got pretty addicted when I first got on. You can chat while playing just like Pogo. But unlike Pogo, there isn't a lot of variety.

All of the games are like slot machines but with a twist. Unlike slot machines, you can just spin the ones you want and save your spins on the other squares. Like a slot machine you have 5 squares. You spin the square you choose and you can spin it as many times as you want till you get what you want. Then once you get a 5 of a kind, you can cash in. You earn points.

Unlike Pogo, you CAN earn something with your points. You can choose the prize you want to earn. Then you continue playing until you reach your prize level. It takes a LOT of points to earn a prize though so you won't win your prize fast. I'm going for a crafters package and it takes 3,500,000 points. I can usually earn about 50,000 - 100,000 in a long session of playing.
