After purchasing a lawnmower in May of last year I was talked into applying for and using a Sears Mastercard with no interest for one year. On the first bill I was charged interest, called customer service, they appologized and "fixed" the account. The second bill comes with an interest bill. This has been a theme for 8 months. I end up spending a half hour to an hour everymonth on the phone with these people to fix a problem they assure me is fixed each month. I am in the process of filing a complaint with my state department of commerce. Not only do they have some of the worst customer service imaginable, I believe that Sears Mastercard is Criminal. During the most recent call this morning I was told that I must submit my request to remove their fradulant charges in writing. I have been cheated. Do Not Get This Card Unless You Are Comfortable With Being Stolen From.
...

I am annoyed! For a zillion years I had a Sears store card. That was all I wanted having more than I needed with re. to VISA and Mastercard. So I get a notice that my Sears Card is going to go away to be replaced by a Sears Mastercard. Knowing it is not a good thing for my credit to cancel or "quit" a card, I go with it. Now I find out, being hassled everytime I go into a Sears, that there still is a store card, "Would you like one?"

NO!!!!!!!!!!! Annoyed!!!!!!!!
...

Was very dissatisfied with this credit card. Card was cancelled even though it was being paid on time. Apparently they do random credit checks, and if your credits starts getting blemmished even if you are paying your card, they still cancel it! Dumb if you ask me!...

I just started using fidelity. You definitely have to do your own homework. I do not remember a lot from my economics classes I took in high school. This makes it very hard to decide what to invest in. They do have the option to invest in a plan that they have set up, but I like to have control of my money. My employer only contributes half of the first 6% of what I put into the account. This is a bonus, but it makes it hard for me to decide what to put my money in. This is why it is so important to do your homework. You don't want to lose your retirement from bad investments.
...

I had a Sears CITI Card for several years but had not used it.

I recieved a promotional offer of 0% intrest rate for 24 months for purchases and card transfers.

I used the card for a large purchase and later was told it didn't qualify for the 0% intrest rate because the purchase was not made at Sears.

Now I'm stuck with an extremely high intrest rate. My first months intrest was over $200.00. Now I am borrowing money form my 401K to pay it off as soon as possible.

I will close my Sears card when the debt is resolved and will not use it anymore.
...

Skeptic107 says "Deceptive practices, terrible rates" about Sears - Credit Card

I got the card a few years ago to buy some appliances and tools with their seemingly great promotions. I never used more than half of my credit line, never missed a payment, and always paid more than the minimum payment. After a year or so of loyalty, I noticed without warning that they began charging default rates on the first item I bought. When I looked into it, I found that they had applied my last several payments towards the "new" charges, declaring the promotional no-interest charges as unpaid. Dirty trick but apparently a legal one. Frustrated, I stopped using the card and paid it off in full, leaving the account open but dormant so it wouldnt damage my credit score. To add insult to injury, after the banking collapse, I got a notice saying that my interest rate was being jacked up to 29.99% in response to the new regulations enacted to protect consumers against the very scams this company was practicing. Never again will they get another dime of my money.

Today, I read the news...
...

I am writing to give fair warning to all. Do not apply for a Sears credit card. They are a bunch of scammers.

My story.

Back in 1/28/2010 I purchased a mattress from Sears using the 18 month no interest deal the had going. Nine months later I still have yet to receive a bill from them. I called them up to inform them of this and the corrected the problem. They were sending my bill to a wrong address. Durning my phone call I set up automatic bill payment with the customer service rep. I told him to make my payment eaqualy so in 18 months I am payed in full. We last Monday I was informed that I have to pay 200.00 in intrest and late fees because I didnt not finish paying of my mattress in time. My argument to them is shouldnt my 18 months start from the day I got my first bill? I mean how am I supposed to pay for something If I dont have a bill? This is the thanks I get for calling in to inform them they have not billed me. Oh and thier customer service is horrendous. I this company has...
...

I had never missed a payment and also made more than min. monthly payment the whole time i had this card, my husband was injured and was off work for a few months, which i used the card more than i normaly would, It was around Christmas time. Went to use my card one day and it was declined, was worried about identity theft because it had a 9,000 limit, so I called and they had dropped my credit limit, without notifying me to under what my balance was. (around 3,000) which over drew my account, then i got slammed overdraft fees, increased interest and monthly payments. This is how you treat a loyal customer who pays on time and most months 2 payments. They said they dropped it becaused they was notified by one of the credit agencies that my credit rating had dropped. This is not fair at all none of my other cards did this to me, has been almost a year and barely under the limit with all the fees, the increased payments and interest rate. Would never recommend this card...
...

Have had a Discover card since "92. Have never had any customer service issues. I applaud their security efforts too as they will proactively call me if there is suspicious looking activity on the card. Love the cash back program. I usually take mine in the form of a credit on my account, but sometimes will take a partner gift card (which is actually an even better deal.). Of course like most people who (currently) carry a balance, I wish the interest rate were a bit lower, but it is actually reasonable when compared to my other cards. I also appreciate the fact that on a couple of occasions over the years, Discover granted me credit limit increases (once at my request, and once on their own). This helped me out greatly.
...

First: some back ground info: I had this master card when it was a Sears only operation out of Ohio and then for the last 2 years or more since it was taken over by Citibank (still out of Ohio). Have had the card since 1997 and just closed the account in mid April of this year. Their pattern of abusing the customer was about the same over the years- it didn't change with the change in ownership, surprisngly. My interest rate was a decent one at 10.5 % and I did use the Awards points I earned to some extent. These are all good points- but the bad points began to outweigh the good until things got to a breaking point for me and I closed the account in disgust.

The abuse was in these areas: Sears MC was extremely senstive to any use of the card for overseas purchases- even online puchases from countries in Europe- usually the UK, sometimes France and Germany through ******. It got to the point that the card was basically unusable for these purposes. OK, you could call them and get the...
...

I applied for this card in order to get 10% off on an electric range I was buying and it was the biggest mistake I made in purchases for the past 20 years. Half of the time I was unable to get on their website and they gave no alert on payments due. I ended up paying $60 in late fee and interests for a $800 purchase. Thier interest rate is one of the highest. I've never been late on my CC payments for the past 20 years. Do not apply in order to get that 10% off, else you will end up paying more for your purchase in the future.
...
