We have enjoyed our Whirlpool electric stove for many years. It matches nicely in our kitchen. The oven cooks evenly. I like to bake cookies. I don't need to rotate for even cooking. The burners come apart easily for cleaning.
...

Pointman111 says "Sears Outlet Jenn-Air replaced our dead, 30 year old Jenn-Air!" about Jenn-Air 30 in. Electric Downdraft Cooktop with Grill and Two Coil Elements

We knew we needed a Jenn-Air Cooktop as a temporary replacement to the one that lasted 30+ years, but we will do a total remodeling of the kitchen next year, so we got a

basic Jenn-Air to fill in for the year or so until the new kitchen appliances are purchased and the kitchen is remodeled. This temporary unit will then go to the outdoor kitchen we are also installing at the same time.

This unit isn't as upgraded as the old one, but the fit in dimensions were perfect. The

2 burners work perfectly, but the first grill burner on the left, closest to the controls has

a problem heating up! :( The other grill burner is fine, so I plan to stop at the Sears Outlet store this weekend to make sure we got the correct left side grill element. That

is one of two disappointments to date. The other is that the top of the control knob area

is about and 1/8 - 1/4" slanted, so the doowndraft cover plate doesn't fit snug, as it should. We discovered this after the installation was...
...

I thought I loved my cooktop stove. But when I spent nearly $500 on all new pots & pans, little did I know that the cooktop could not be used for all types of cookware. After using my new cookware on my cooktop stove for about 30 days, the entire top of the stove shattered! i was devistated. I had only had my stove for about 18 months. I could not return my new pans, so I ended up going back to the old school electric coils :(...

Gas 30 inch Jennair grill and burner cooktop should be pulled off the market. It does not work. It is an absolutley lousy, non-functional design. You buy this thing and you will have thrown your money away. Jennair's customer service is a joke. They apologize and deny the problem. Purchased this thing approximately 3 months ago. Cannot grill anything without having to open windows and shutting off smoke alarms. Down draft for grill is poorly designed. Does not work. Flame pattern on grill is a joke. Only approximately 1/3 of grill is exposed to direct flame - 1/3 is a grill the remaining 2/3's is useless. You cannot even fry or boil water on burner side if grill is on. Hard to believe, but it is true and Jennair is in complete denial about it. This thing is junk and it is dangerous. Do not buy. Send me your money instead and I will at least give it back to you after I send you some pieces of iron and junk and call it a cooktop. Do not buy. I am surprised...
...

We had nothing but problems with this cooktop. The elements and buttons are all part of the same unit, so when one thing breaks, everything breaks. Our Kenmore cooktop broke and had to be replaced 4 times over the course of its 5 year lifespan. So now it's five years later, our warrenty has run out, and we're stuck with a completely nonfunctioning cooktop, which will have to be completely replaced, whereas our first gas range cooktop is still working after 15 years in the house we left behind. Needless to say, this will be our last Kenmore.
...

I listened to my husband when he said let's get this one when I wanted a glass top and I wish I didn't buy it. The actual burners work great (can't simmer without boiling over but that could be my propane output needs adjustment) but that's about it. The problems I have is the Stainless steel scratches so easy even when you clean it gently. (I vacuum off crumbs with a soft brush before cleaning) One of my knobs melted. Half of the decals for the temps have come off even with gentle cleaning. I am trying to get the rest off (honestly, I know where the temps are and it looks better without the decals) The burner covers are all faded to gray the black is gone. The grids are hard to clean spills off of even with soaking and they black is coming off them too even though I use the recommended cleaner. I like all of my Kenmore appliances except this one.
...

I have owned this unit for about two years, and am now shopping for a replacement. The curved design is this unit's downfall. The burners are spaced too close together to use them all at once, so you end up with a three burner stove. Also, the control knobs fall apart - all of mine have fallen apart - and are too close to the burners and likely to melt under high heat.
...
