This is a follow up of my original revew. Only cooked one batch of cookies, and these took 14 min. to cook instead of 12 min. The oven elements did not cycle on as many times as are old oven. This oven must be insulated extremly well. There was a lot less heat being blown out of the upper vent on the front of the unit. I may need to incress the preset temperature, but will wait untill I check the temp. again when cooking the cake. We realy like the large window on this unit. We could easly see both trays of cookies, and the additional light were great. We are going to try a cake next. Rian
...

i bought my kenmore gas stove in august i love it. my old stove i had to light with a match to light and this one has lite knob then you turn it to what ever setting you want. the oven is so big and the light really helps to see what you are cooking. it also makes a beeping noise when it reaches the tempature for starting to bake. i had the stove deleveried and the was on time and sit it up for me i couldn't ask for a better stove and ps. i also bought a kenmore refrigrator i love it also. now i need a washer and dryer and i will be in to buy it also cause the products are good as well as the people who help you pick out what fits your need and doesnt pressure you into buying something you dont need. that is why i will be back to buy any of my applinces or other items i will need. thank to sears and i love kmart just as much
...

Do not buy this oven.

I am not much of a cook so my oven has not been used much. After 18 months of minimal usage I started receiving an F95 error code and the oven would stop working. I am told the repair costs will be approximately $530 for essentially a new oven. Of course I passed on the extended warranty as they are prohibitively expensive. All the reviews from **************** etc rave about this oven so I deemed myself safe (not).

Of course Sears can not/will not do anything for me. In renovating my kitchen I bought the entire Elite line of appliances along with a stand alone freezer. Wouldn't you think Sears would deem me a good customer? I'm done with them forever!

From the start it ran 25 degrees off the desired temperature but that I could deal with.

When we first got it, the fan was too noisy. It was about as loud as the microwave or exhaust fan above the stove. The installation tech said "that's not right, it's defective, call Sears and get another one". We did what he said and the new one is perfect. There is a bit of fan noise but it's not loud at all. Before I could hear the fan from just about anywhere in the house, now I have to stand right in front of the oven to hear it. The first one smelled bad too. This one has a little brand new smell but it's not bad at all. It works great and it looks nice too. The inside is larger than our previous Kenmore 27". A cookie sheet that I crimped the down the sides to make it fit in the old one slides in fine with about 2" to spare in width. Hopefully this oven will last a long time. My wife does a lot of cooking and baking so it will get a workout.
...

I purchased this oven several years ago. When it works it works well. The problem has been very low reliability. After a few months of use the doors go ajar when the oven started to pre-heat. This caused the oven to stop preheating. I've had to have this repaired multiple times. The next problem was the controls. The oven would show the oven has reached temperature when it was around 100 degrees off (too cold). It then would show a fault after more use. I had this repaired a few weeks ago and it's starting to show the same symptoms again.

Then oven has a lot of bells and whistles, but is useless if it can't do the basics like reach a temperature and actually bake.

When we began our kitchen remodel, there was no question about the appliances that would be installed. I wanted only restaurant quality, high end appliances, until our *************** magazine came in and stated that what I wanted could be problematic and that Kenmore was rated #1 almost across the board! We saved a bundle, purchased local, upgraded to the best that Sears/Kenmore had to offer and couldn't be happier. I am having a small issue a year later, but Sears has ordered the part, (the element went out on the top oven), and scheduled a service call and was more than accommodating. We couldn't be happier with Kenmore or Sears....

We purchased this oven nearly a year ago based upon favorable reviews in consumer magazines. When we ran the self-clean cycle for the first time a week before Thanksgiving, the thermostat was tripped to shut the oven off because of the high heat and the oven wouldn't come back on.

After waiting a week to get a service person to repair the oven (we had to use a neighbor's oven to cook our turkey), a service person came to our home and said this was a common problem for these ovens which are actually manufactured by Electrolux. He had to remove the built-in oven, unscrew the back and replace/reset the thermostat switch. He said there isn't a higher-rated thermostat replacement available so this same problem would most likely occur the next time we ran the self-clean cycle.

Luckily, the oven still had two weeks remaining on the warranty so the repair didn't cost anything except the aggravation of not having a workable oven over Thanksgiving. Otherwise, it would have been a $180...
...

I purchased this oven about 5 years ago- top of the line Whirlpool. After the first time I used the self- cleaning feature the display pad kept showing an error code. I can use the oven still, but at times it will go black and not work at all. I found out that the keypad needs replaced to the tune of $400! This may not even fix the problem and it will be more money to replace the control pad. I also read other reviews about it failing again after the costly repairs. I called Whirlpool and basically was told- "too bad."
...
