Thank goodness Sears carries these yearound. I have been pleasantly surprised with this unit-- it is quiet, easy to operate but the best thing is, I have noticed a difference in my utility bill..It is lower than previous years. I can only attribute this to the new unit. It cost less to operate! YEA!! I give it 4 stars only because I have not used it a full year yet but so far its great.</p>... IT HAS BEEN INSTALLED FOR ABOUT 4 DAYS IN A 1400 SQ. FOOT RANCH HOME PRETTY WELL INSULATED. IT IS IN MY KITCHEN WINDOW AND COOLS MY KITCHEN DININING ROOM AND LIVING ROOM . AN  AREA OF ABOUT 32 X 24 FOOT.  THE WEATHER OUTSIDE WAS ABOUT 85 DEGREES AND HIGH HUMDITY AND IT MADE THIS AREA VERY NICE. IT REALLY SUCKS THE HUMIDITY OUT OF THE HOUSE. IT WAS A LITTLE HEAVY TO INSTALL  BUT WITH HELP "NO PROBLEM". I REALLY DON'T KNOW HOW  MUCH ENERGY IT WILL USE  BUT IT CAN'T BE MORE THAN THE OLD ONE. I PUT A PROBE THERMOMETER IN THE FRONT OF IT AND AT TIMES IT GOES DOWN TO ABOUT 35 DEGREES. ITS PRETTY QUIET AND IT HAS A NICE LOOK TO IT. I PAID $300.00 AND $85.00 FOR A 5 YEAR EXTENDED WARRANITY. The fan is pretty weak and i have to put another fan in front of the airconditioner just to get the air into the living room which is about 5 feet away. I wouldnt exactly call it multi room. I would recomend it if your going to use it for a sinlge room but definately not multiple rooms.  Other then that if we keep it on 24/7 it stays fairly cool. Im not extremely satisfied but definately at ease that atleast we have an airconditioner.</p>... My unit arrived in good condition. I got a neighbor to help move it from the car to the house and to do the final installation of the inner unit into the installation sleeve. Don't try to move this unit alone; it's not that heavy, but it's too wide for one person to lift.</p> <p>I found that the hardware and instructions were adequate, but I'm much more of a DIYer than average. I found a few faults with this design.</p> <p>The worst part of this job was sealing the installation to be reasonably air tight from inside to outside. We live in an area that gets hot in the summer and cold (below 0 F) in the winter, so I was appalled to find long 3/16" gaps at the top of the side curtains that are necessary to adjust the installation to a range of window openings. I spent a lot of time adding foam strips in various places to seal everything against air...</p>... I have a Sharp that automatically incrementally adjusts the fan speed and this does not exactly do that. The closest this comes is in energy saver mode where it shuts the fan off completely if it is not actually cooling. This is OK but the effect is that it comes every 3 minutes to see if it needs to cool (fan included) and then shuts down again. I can't imagine having it on this setting if I were trying to sleep. The only other option is to pick a speed and then it is just on all nite. So you can leave it on normal cooling with low, medium or high and then it is on all the time, or energy saver with low medium or high and it cycles on and off every three minutes. i just leave it on low and it is not bad. plenty of cooling power.</p> <p>I ordered it online and picked an installation date and just expected it to happen. I ended up doing most of the work coordinating the delivery from UPS with the local...</p>... Sat, 22 Aug 2009 01:35:23 GMT http://www.mysears.com/Kenmore-12-000-BTU-Multi-Room-Air-Conditioner-review-49f60 YANKEES44 5 http://www.mysears.com/Kenmore-12-000-BTU-Multi-Room-Air-Conditioner-review-35430 <p>We bought two of these about a week apart in early August.  One went in my garage and the other in the mother-in-law's house.</p> <p>If you're looking for something cheap that blows cold air and is reasonably quiet and efficient, then you'll be happy.  For anything beyond that though, exercise caution and understand that you're getting (maybe) what you pay for.</p> <p>First and foremost, these are made in China; they are cheap and they show it.  They were not well boxed and both (from two different Sears locations) had dents and distortion in the outer cases.  The grilles don't fit well and don't want to stay on, and the access door for the filter doesn't like to stay shut.  As someone else mentioned the side curtains are a bear to install due to sloppy machining and lack of clearance to get to the screws.  And, the holes in the bottom of the frame for the external supports that go beneath it on the windowsill are drilled such that they're pretty much useless.  They did not line up with anything...</p>... Thu, 13 Aug 2009 17:09:04 GMT http://www.mysears.com/Kenmore-12-000-BTU-Multi-Room-Air-Conditioner-review-35430 Stan20607 3 http://www.mysears.com/Kenmore-12-000-BTU-Multi-Room-Air-Conditioner-review-90953 <p>My 7 year old 10,000 BTU Panasonic AC was starting to die, and at the worst possible time, being it has been brutally hot this past week in NY.  We loved the Panasonic, but they have gotten out of the AC business.  I was on the hunt for a new AC, our reqiurements were; enough cooling power for 400 Sq Feet, which includes a kitchen area, Quiet, Energy Efficent, doesn't weigh a ton (Panasonic weighed 77 lbs), and doesn't cost a fortune.  I looked at Friedrich - weighed over 100 lbs, and a host of others.  Almost pulled the trigger on a Sharp AC, which no one sells locally, they are quiet as I have one in our bedroom.  I came across this Kenmore 12,000 BTU unit Model 75121 at 79 lbs, only 2 lbs. heavier than the Panasonic (Not bad for an extra 2,000 BTU's).  The reviews were pretty positive, so we decided to give it a go, knowing Sears would take it back if we were dissatisfied.  Sears is within 2 miles of my home, so my wife and I popped over and purchased it.  Unpacking it we noticed...</p>...
