RG1Florida says "Nice design but packs quite a bit of noise..." about Dyson Air Multiplier Tower Fan

The design elements of this fan are fantastic and it blends very well with the decor of the room we placed it. However and to our surprise, it is very loud, especially at a high speed setting. Using it at low speed, doesn't generate enough air output, hence my average rating for this item.

I decide it to keep it because no other option will blend with our decor better than this Dyson unit. However, as a fan, my old 50 bucks unit delivers better results.
...

Purchased the fan, put it together & it ran beautifully. After 2 days the motor would "surge" when the fan was oscillating. After 2 weeks there was an oily substance noticed on the bottom of the motor casing. At that point the fan would only occasionally turn on. Also would not stay pointing straight out, but would tilt back on it's own so air was blowing up (when it did work).
...

I've owned this fan for 3 years. It's been great! The motor finally bit the dust. I knew it was going. I was jump starting it like an old prop plane for the last 3 months. It did a wonderful job of keeping me cool all summer and reminding me to breath at night. I have a bit of apnea so fans are a must. I've never had one work so well before. Looking for a replacement now. I want this same model. I can't live with my dollar store junk in my room for too long. Oh, and in the winter I use the remote on this fan to turn it on AFTER I'm under the warm covers.
...

Can not believe how much air this fan moves. Ionizer really takes the 'stink' out of the air and makes a room feel spring fresh. Like how it oscillates and sends so much air into even the largest of rooms. Works best sitting in a corner and then sweeping the air thoughout the entire space. Great fan that is very quiet yet packs a HUGE breeze.
...

Sear's Honeywell Fresh Breeze Tower Fan is very quiet and it cools a room like a small window air conditioner unit. It has a thermostat on the fan. We've owned one for a year now and we have been moving it upstairs to the office and downstairs in our bedroom at night. We are able to keep our air conditioner thermostat turned up higher than we usually keep it when we run the Fan. We are purchasing another one to keep in the office upstairs cooler, so we can keep the one in the bedroom that we already have. Then, the following month, we will be purchasing another Honeywell Fresh Breeze Fan for the kitchen. It's great having it there when you are cooking. Yes, we could buy a fan for less money, but the Honeywell works so very well, why try anything else? This is definitively the case of "You get what you pay for".

I was extremely grateful I researched the web prior to purchasing this fan. It definitely saved me tons of set up time. No tools were needed but it was a small challenge to understand the instructions about setting up the base when putting it together. I have no idea how such a simply step can become so challenging. Other than the struggle with assembly I was satisfied based on the price I paid. It's kind of loud on medium and high but that became a plus as it functions as sound machine/fan to mask to noise from the kids outside. It gets a A+ on cooling as it cools my entire living, dining room, and kitchen areas....

Need a fan at home? Look no further, this fan is all just about anybody needs.

This fan has been providing us with plenty of comfortable airflow for the last couple years. Three speeds, adjustable height, and quiet operation. It was simple to assemble (I actually followed the instructions). And, Its head oscillates, so it covers the whole room rather than just creating one comfortable spot in the room.

I'd definitely recommend this fan to anyone looking for a stand fan for just about any size room.
...

I didn't have any problems putting than fan together or issues with the quality of the stand. It is similarto mostfans in this price range. My problem is that you can barely feel air coming out of the fan - no matter how I angle it. Not good!...
