I purchased a Kenmore Ultra Quiet Dishwasher in July of 2008. It did not perform well: it was not quiet and it left coffee stains on cups, and waterspots on tableware and dishes even though I used the recommended detergent and followed manufacturers instructions. The dishwasher stopped working two days ago; the one year warranty expired 3 months ago and now I am stuck with a white elephant in my kitchen. I will not be purchasing any Kenmore appliances in the future, even though I had been a Kenmore loyalist for 25 years. I am very dissatisfied with the product and resent having to pay a service technician $75.00 to come to my home.
...

Bought the Kenmore 665 Elite to replace the beat up, 15+ year old Whirlpool dishwasher that came with the house when we bought it. Paid a little extra thinking we would be getting a nice appliance. WRONG! Our dishes were cleaner using the old dishwasher. We've had techs out six or seven times to replace multiple parts, but they can't seem to get it to work. I've had to call so often that I have the escalation dept's phone number on my speed dial. One tech said the water was too cold, another told us it was too hot. Pretty obvious at this point that we got ourselves a lemon (thank god we got the extended warranty). We've had good luck with Kenmore stuff in the past, but we got chumped this time. We just want a dishwasher that works at this point, so I'm going to have to press the issue and see about getting a replacement. Headed over to the store tonight (Colonial Park, Pennsylvania) to have a face-to-face with the Appliance Manger and ruin his evening. My wife had the brilliant...
...

Curly1ocks says "Kenmore Quiet Guard Dishwasher destroys dirt and gunk on dishes!" about Kenmore Quiet Guard Dishwasher

When we looked to replace our old olive green dishwasher with an updated version, we considered one of those fancy brands they offer on the TV commercials.

Well we did purchase one and it looked okay, but it just had one major problem. It wasn't too concerned about the amount of stuff that remained on my previously white and gleaming dishes. Not only did it leave bits of food particles here and there, the drying cycle was very good at cooking it on to the dishes so that it took more scrubbing to remove than it would have to wash it by hand in the first place. My dishwasher was quickly becoming my least favorite modern day kitchen appliance.

It didn't take us long to decide we needed a replacement for our apathetic dishwasher. The Kenmore Quiet Guard cleans dishes quietly and well. They come out clean, really! There is no bad location in the dishwasher to place a dish. Corner items are just as spotless as those in the center of the rack. Top and bottom are clean and ready...
...

I love my new Bosch ! I had a Kitchenaid for 15 yrs before it finally gave up . I researched through brand sites ,consumer sites and blogs before I decided to buy my Bosch. I really have to listen to hear any noise and my husband & kids sayI have the hearing of a bat.My family is surprised @ how quiet it is. There is plenty of room for the all the dishes and I love the utensil holder. I have tried for years to get the family to put the utensils in with the handles down except for the knives. My husband & kids hate change now they have to relearn how to load the dishwasher.I also love the option of removing the top rack so I can clean large platters and tall pots ect. Even the removalbe tall glass holder on the top rack for vases is a great feature as I have a hard time cleaning the bottom of some of my vases due to the thin necks.
...

Looked good in the store for it's features and greenness. Low water and electric use.

To bad it didn't work as well. It is very touchy and the cycle will abort if everything isn't just right. A failure code displays and the codes are in the user manual. The repairman said it was the Cascade detergent we were using - the code also has other reasons. We ran three cycles w/o detergent to clear out the code. We than changed detergent and reduced the amount used. It ran for about a week than failed again.

The buttons on the control panel are black with smal white lettering that can only be seen in bright lighting.

After two months we have switched it out for a Bosch.
...

I paid quite a bit for this Kenmore Elite with Quiet Guard II, paid extra for the "BLACK" color to match all the other Kenmore's in my kitchen too. But it was a lemon from the start. Many mechanical problems. I have had the Sear's repairman here over six times, once was even a supervisor with the repair guy because they could not figure out what was wrong. Sears extended the warranty for two extra years because of all the problems so the service was good, as usual, but the machine is not one I will recommend to anyone.

When it DOES run, it is quiet as a mouse! So that part is good, but the first year was horrible with it breaking down constantly.

I would not recommend this one to anyone, try a different Kenmore!
...

I was a little hesitant about buying this as it seems much smaller than a full size dishwasher. We have an older style kitchen and the cabinets are not wide enough for a 24". But my wife was adamant, and she has a friend who has the same model and loves it.

Hookup was very easy, only one water line (hot), and elec hook in and drain connection into the garbage disposal.

It works great, gets dishes very clean. Reasonably quiet too.

We have a family of 5 and find that we fill it pretty much every night. Is not big enough for large pots, so they have to get done by hand.
...

The Kenmore Elite does the job everytime, no prewashing, comes out sparkling clean & dry. This dishwasher is so quiet I do not even know it is running when sitting next to it. It's also Energy Star. I also find this dishwasher very easy to load & unload. Although I never timed the cycle, it doesn't seem that your always waiting for the dishwasher to be done, like the other 2 dishwashers I am writing about below.

We have had 3 dishwashers in less than 3yrs, 1st an LG that began to stop mid-cycle & not restart unless you set it back to the beginning & the cycle was always over 2 hrs., then it started to leak & was unrepairable, dishes also never dried very well. We had the extended warranty for the LG & they refunded.

Next we tried a Samsung, it was really quiet, but all I can assume it was so quiet because it wasn't doing anything, dishes always came out dirty, even...
...

We purchase this dishwasher based on previous reviews that we read and the excellent rating with ****************. We've been using it for only one month but so far we absolutely love it. It's not completely silent, but it's so much quieter than our old GE dishwasher and we barely hear it in the next room. I could not get over how much room there is in this thing! Because it is an energy star model, it will run longer than older models (seems to run about 1.3 hours for us but it "adjusts" based on how dirty the dishes are), but used a lot less energy and water. It just cycles on and off through the wash which makes it more efficient. So far we are very happy with this purchase!
...

Didn't like the design of this dishwasher - the silverware rack in the door didn't get clean or dry. (not that the rest of the dishes were much better) Poor design overall. Nowhere to put covers for containers, When closing the dishwasher, got fingerprints all over the front, since it was inconvenient to reach around under the door to grab the handle. Not very quiet by today's standards. RETURNED it for a Fridgidaire Gallery, and LOVE IT! Was definitely worth paying for the install on the exchange!
...

I RECENTLY PURCHASED THE WHIRLPOOL GOLD DISHWASHER WITH THE ADAPTIVE WASH CYCLE AND SO FAR I AM VERY PLEASED WITH IT. I BOUGHT IT FOR IT'S DESIGN. I WANTED MORE SPACE IN THE MACHINE FOR POTS AND PANS. I LIKE HAVING THE SILVERWARE BASKET ON THE DOOR AND THE JETS WHICH SPRAY FROM THE BACK OF THE MACHINE WHICH TARGETS THE SILVERWARE BASKET.

IT IS ALSO MUCH QUIETER THAN THE MACHINE THAT I REPLACED. IT HAS SEVERAL WASH CYCLES AND ALL OF THE BUTTONS ARE LOCATED ON TOP OF THE DOOR WHICH MAKES IT NICE ESPECIALLY WHEN THERE ARE SMALL CHILDREN AROUND.

I HAVE LYMPHOMA AND I HAVE TO BE CAREFUL WITH GERMS AND BACTERIA ESPECIALLY SINCE I HAVE HAD TO HAVE MY SPLEEN REMOVED. THE HIGH TEMPERATURE WASH AND SANITIZING RINSE LEAVES ME CONFIDENT THAT THE DISHES ARE EXTREMELY CLEAN.

I WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS MACHINE TO ANYONE......I LOVE IT!!!!!
...

Since I had to buy this 'cuz it was the only one that fit into the space, I was more than skeptical. I loved my old GE and the set up of the trays. This top rack bugs me cuz it does not hold my glasses snuggly or allow me to load in the same way. The bottom rack bugs me because the plates don't stay securely in place. The door bugs me because it does not stay down without the bottom tray being open.

Having said all of that, it is a good product that cleans well, and quietly.

Most of the top issues are preference and comparing it to what I am used to. I would recommend this - (to anyone who needs to fit a dishwasher that is 32" high). Every other brand builds their dishwashers at 34" high. Not practical for people who are replacing a dishwaher under an existing countertop and on top of pre-installed flooring.
...

I've owned this unit for a bit over three years now, so I'll give you a detailed, critical review.

Having an old house without room or the proper electrical for a full size dishwasher, I thought we'd give this a try. Hand washing just doesn't get the dishes that nice, hot, sterile clean, so this is a great alternative.

My machine arrived with some dings and dents, but the hassle of returning it outweighed the damage. Like many others, I had to replace the washer in the hose (it all depends on the kind of faucet you have) before having a nice leak-free connection, but it's since impressed me with its performance. My set up is a bit different in that it is permanently connected to the hot water hose of my washing machine (with a shut off valve) and drains into my washer. In terms of washing, I give this machine high marks. It runs in our household at least once a day, giving us super clean dishes and it swallows more than you would expect.

It's the quality/fit/finish that I have issue with....
...

Got a great deal at my hometown store on a floor model Kenmore Ultra Wash dishwasher with SmartWash and Sani-Rinse (665.12724). It fits easily twice as many dishes as my old Kenmore. The tall tub, height-adjustable top rack and no more center pop-up sprayer make a huge difference.

I love the easy-to-use control panel; it even remembers my last cycle settings! It's quiet, cleans great, and is Energy Star qualified, so I know I'm saving energy and money compared to the old one.

I have had this dishwasher for two years, it works for us most of the time because there are only 3 of us in the house, if there were more people in the house I just don't see it as being a practical appliance. Also, when I cook, I handwash all of my pots and pans if I were to try to put pans in this AND dishes it just wouldn't work, there is not room in one drawer for a plates, silverware, glassware and pans. Also, I have to hand wash platters or oversize plates, they simply won't fit. But, on the other hand, it's beautiful and I think it cleans very well. The only other 'issue' that I have with it is I think it would keep on drying forever..it just goes for hours, I always just interrupt it, I figure if I don't it would keep drying for a month
...

yardNgard says "Quiet N clean dish washing machine" about Kenmore 13863 Stainless Steel Built-in Dishwasher

I bought my Kenmore Elite Dishwasher with TurboZone (model 13863 - stainless steel inside and out, Quietguard Premium) almost 3 year ago and have been fairly pleased with my purchase. I don't think any dishwasher out there is perfect, but this one certainly gives it a run!

One of the features that influenced me was the TurboZone. I didn't want a gizmo or gimmick when it came time to cleaning. This unit has an extra set of sprayers down in the back so that you face your really grimy pans and pots in this direction for attack. It really does make a difference, but it is not perfect. I found I don't have to soak pans nearly as much or do the cleaning myself as long as the nozzles can get at the areas that need cleaning. Only in some of the more stubborn, totally-baked-on messes did I find that the turbo needed a turbo boost. This wash area of the lower tray also features an adjustable set of tines so you can angle whatever you're cleaning towards the back or stand it up straight depending...
...

lcorrea619 says "Sparkling clean dishes everytime" about Bosch 24 in. Built-In Dishwasher

I love this dishwasher! My dishes are sparkling clean everytime. I love that you can set it to wash while you are asleep and put them away in the morning. I think it is very quiet, but it is new. I know that it is soooo much better than the Kitchen Aid that came with the house. The best part about it in my opinion was the installation. The instructions were very clear. My husband has never installed anything before and had it running perfectly in 10 mins. I also purchased a Bosch fridge, washer and dryer because I was so impressed with the quality. I gave it a four out of five because the space around the silverware basket is a little large so it moves around a bit.
...

safetysue says "I wouldn't buy this again." about Bosch Dishwasher - Evolution 500 Stainless Steel

In the process of just completing a major remodel - moved the kitchen in our home. My DH was firm on a Bosch dishwasher. Purchased model # SHE68M02UC/50. I'm happy to say I will never let me repeat NEVER unload this dishwasher. It does not dry the dishes. It's not supposed to dry the dishes - it doesn't even have a drying cycle. It's supposed to dry with the heat from the extra hot water. Don't believe it.

You have to be careful when you remove the dishes or you'll water all over the floor. Not a good thing for hardwood floors.

Google search for 'Bosch + Drying" and you'll find plenty of opinions on this subject. It actually states in the manual that it will not dry Teflon or plastic. I'd be shocked to find a kitchen that doesn't use plastic storage containers.

The selling points - runs quiet and cleans better than most are true.

Wish I had my 12 year old Kitchen Aid back - it was noisy but the dishes came out clean and dry.
