We purchased a large Kenmore Heavy Duty Commercial freezer and just love it. I am always shopping the sales and buying in bulk, so we wanted an extra large freezer. The Kenmore freezer has a smudge-proof textured door. This model has a pull-out wire drawer on the bottom which works excellent for bags of frozen veggies. The doors have ample shelving to hold items such as packages of cold cuts or smaller boxed items. Overall, the freezer holds a huge quantitiy, allowing me to save lots of money buying in bulk when I find a sale. Also, my husband is a hunter, so come fall, we really fill it up. I would be lost without it. I also like the fact that it has the outdoor indicator light so if, for any reason, it stops operating, we will know soon. We've not had any problems with this freezer. Definitely pleased, especially with the size.
...

I have purchased two Kenmore freezers this year and could not be happier. I have one for my home and replaced my mother's 30 year old freezer.

I especially like the section for the ice cream. Now there is no more searching for the carton in the middle of the night!

My mother is a true Italian who makes her sauce and freezes it for the unexpected drop in guests. She loves the idea of being able to size her own shelf and the slide out basket for her meats at the bottom.

Even the delivery man said he had never seen so much food in one freezer!
...

Kenmore 8.8 cu ft chest freezer in black is a great value. I shopped around for days, looking for freezers, and reviews both on freezers and delivery. Some reviews on other stores quoted freezers being damaged in freight. But sears delivery was superb, and no damage to my new freezer at all. Its worth the extra money for the black finish, and it also has a temp alarm in which the white one does not. It is very quite, only noise you hear is a click ping when the compressor comes on. You can not hear it even hum, unless your ear is right down to the side where the motor is. I did turn it up one notch colder above the facotry setting. In over 10 days now since it was new, only has limited tiny amount of frost. But then I only open it quickly get what I need. I dont use the key to lock it , no child in my house, but if I did they only fault I see is that the key is made of plastic which will break after wear and tear, this should be made of metal. Hm, plactic key for a metal...
...

blcaug44 says "Kenmore Elite freezer has useless Soft Freeze zone & ices up!!!!" about Kenmore Elite 20.6 cu. ft. Upright Freezer

We recently purchased a Kenmore Elite 20.6 cu.ft. Upright Freezer. I really like the design of the main freezer compartment (3 drawers and 3 shelves) making it easy to access things. However the door has a "Soft Freeze Zone" that is advertized as good for ice cream and other items you want to keep a little softer. HA! The compartment 1s 22" X 5" X 5" which will not hold any thing but dixie cup size containers. It would be great for 1/2 gallons, etc.. if it were big enough to hold them It keeps the smaller ice creams(popsicles, fudgecicles, bars, etc. TOO SOFT. What a WASTE of precious space!

In addition the door seal is already not sealing tight at the top and ice forms inside and on top of the door. The noise it makes is also annoying, but at least it is in the laundry room. I am already very disappointed in this purchase and I've only had it 2 months.
...

This Kenmore frost-free upright freezer replaced an old Whirlpool upright freezer which i had to manually defrost. I've had it approximately a month now and am very happy with the performance. It is supposed to have an alarm that goes off when the temperature goes up inside. I don't know what the alarm sounds like at this point.

After reading the other reviews of this product, I was a little skeptical about ordering it as a lot of them indicated that it was so noisy. I proceeded to order it anyway. I have it installed in the basement and it is not noisy. Even when I am in the basement, I have to really listen to hear if it is running. Perhaps the problem with the other reviews could be that it was not leveled as it should have been.
...

My wife and I purchased the Kenmore Elite 19.7 cu ft chest freezer from Sears. We picked up the freezer and carefully unloaded it. We opened the box and found dents in the lid and on the right side of the freezer. We were not happy. We decided to try the freezer anyway and moved it into the basement. We let the freezer sit 24 hrs before plugging it in. We plugged it in and then installed the 9volt battery. Nothing happened. The light in the freezer would come on and you could change the temp setting but the compressor will not run and cool the inside. We left it plugged in and call customer service. They did not tell me anything I already knew. We went to the basement and the freezer was running. We thought ok good to go. Oh no. After a hour or so went to check the temp and it was not running and dispayed 60 F. Had power to outlet and to freezer but it would not run. Felt the side were the compressor is and it was vey hot and sounded like a relay click once also. I unplugged......

rogergayleblock says "Second time it needs to be fixed!" about Kenmore Upright Freezer

Kenmore Elite Freezer Upright was purchased just over a year ago. We had a problem with the control board not calling for defrost. It was then just under three months old and was fixed under warranty. Now after our first year and the unit is now full, we had a gradual increase in temp. We traced it to a lack of R-134a. We added an adaptor and added a small amount to get the compresser happy. The next thing was it was not cooling to temp setting. We pulled out food and noticed ice on the bottom back. This was same symptom as before- no defrost. We cut the orange wire and measured an open looking into the defrost heater/thermistor. The board side had 120Vac present. When connected no ac current was measured. It seems that the thermistor or the heater has failed open.

My question is: Where are these located and how best to get to them for replacement or should we just deep 6 this thing?
...

When we bought our freezer it was due to the fact that our freezer space was far to limited. When our local store had a meat sale, we knew we had to get a small and efficient freezer. Our first stop was to Sears and with the help of the sales person, he matched us up with the perfect size and price.

We end up buying bout 75 pounds of meat. This included hamburger, steaks, pork chops and both beef and pork ribs. We repackaged the meat and to this day--about six months later we are still working on out loot.

Our electric bill only went up about $5.00 per month. We are totally satisfied with our purchase. BTW, the guys that delevired it were great. They took their shoes off before they came in and were very respectful during the entire process.

Besides meat our freezer holds pizzas, ice cream, pot pies, bread. I mean EVERYTHING!!
...

This is a space saving freezer that holds more than you would expect. We almost bought the larger one but, we're glad we went with this one because we have more than enough space. It was on sale when we bought it at a little over a hundred and I am sure we have saved at least that amount with the food we have saved from spoiling. We have had it for over a year and we haven't had to defrost yet which is great because I thought we would have to defrost at LEAST once a year. I love that it had a lock and for my husband's birthday I bought him an ice cream cake and locked it in the freezer so he wouldn't peek. What a great feature! When we host parties we keep extra ice in it to make sure we don't run out and it doesn't take up space and clutter the refrigerator freezer....

My husband and I purchased the Kenmore Elite 24.9 cubic ft. chest freezer in Nov. of 2008. It's nice and big! We have 7 kids and needed a new chest freezer. What I really like are the dividers. They really help keep things organized. I've had a large chest freezer before and they are certainly more challenging to keep oraganized than an upright. We found the alarm to be a bit wimpy but that was certainly not an important feature that we were looking at. Overall we are very pleased with the freezer so far; having it for only a couple of months. I hope this is helpful! Oops! I forgot to mention the lift out baskets. There are 3 and they are great too....

I researched this freezer before buying it and it had mixed reviews but I was not anticipating this freezer being so LOUD! We placed it in our basement but you can hear it so clearly that I lost sleep last night. Now I am stuck trying to figure out if I want to keep it, since after reviewing several Kenmore freezer reviews it appears they are all noisy! I do like the layout of the freezer and the features on it, especially the alarm feature which tells you whent he door has been left open more than 5 minutes. However, if I had known it was going to be this loud, I would have bought nother brand....

I just purchased a Kenmore upright freezer yesterday from Sears. I was surprised to find a medium capacity upright for just over $400.00. It has outside door controls and a lock. The lock is an important safety feature for me, very important if you have small children around. The lock also keeps my frozen goods secure from intruders, I have some really great lamb in my freezer that I raised myself.

I was impressed with the warranty that was offered by Sears. It will cover up to $250.00 of product if one should have a power outage, I think that is awesome! I had never heard of an offer like that. The warranty was $89.99 for three years, this also covers any parts and labor on my freezer which I guess would cost $90.00 now for just a visit and that is not covering the cost of fixing whatever might be broken.

I am very happy with the purchase and recommend the Kenmore upright freezers to you!!
...

This freezer was the worst purchase of my life!!!! It is nothing but a Chinese piece of crap that uses way too much electricity. My electric bill went up by 1/2, and this freezer was supposed to be energy efficient. In fact, I had it tested by the electric company. They said that if it had been a bigger model, they would have replaced it for free because it had such a negative effect on my electric bill. Since the freezer was only a 5 cubic foot freezer, the electric company could only warn me about it. Don't waste your money!!!!!...

We needed extra space for frozen foods, out refrig. freezer just wasn't large enough. We only go shopping twice a month, and finding place to store all the grocery's is a real challenge. I looked at many brands, and many stores before purchasing this freezer. I did find lower prices at a couple of stores, but the freezers were name brands that I had never heard of. After researching the brand names online, they are made in China, and they really don't have good reviews. So, naturally, I purchased the Sears freezer. It's a brand I trust!...

I purchased this GE chest freezer when I realized that my side by side is too small.

We have a family of 5 and this is perfect for the extra bread and when I find a sale on meat.

I wanted something that would allow me extra space but not too big where I loose track of what I have. I thought if the food goes bad I'm not saving any money on wasting food.

I did look at the 7cu. size but I think this is a better deal and makes me rotate my food.

I divided up left side older food, right side newer purchases.

It works for us.

The chest is colder than an upright since the temp does not change when it's opened as cold air drops. So the food stays fresher longer.

Since it's a chest and a manual defrost model I only have to defrost it about once a year or longer. Since it is not opened over and over again the frost does not build up.

...
