I have had my 19606 for 6 years and I have never had a problem with it. I sew regularly and have never even had to have it serviced. I learned to sew on a much older, but similar computerized Kenmore machine that my husbands aunt gave me when she upgraded to a much more pricey Pf--f machine. She gave me just enough time to fall in love with it before she took it back because she perferred it so much over her new pricey one. So I went to Sears and bought the 19606 model discounted as an openned shelf model. All it was missing was the manual which I downloaded for free. It has worked perfectly since day one and still running strong. Great machine for the money!...

The Hamilton beach iron was a compact, efficient streamer for my clothes while on my cruise to the carribean and travels to my grandchildren. I was able to easily remove wrinkles and creases with no hassle, which resulted in a reduce in cost saving for the use of the cleaners. I was impressed and please with my choice and would definitely recommend this iron to all of my friends. You won't be disappointed.
...

I love this little daisy of a machine. I was going to get it for my kids but actually got them Husqvarnas like they use at school. But then I saw a friend of mine has it and she is a real grown-up good sewer. She uses it so I thought, why not! It's a good little machine, does not take up much space and is so cute!
...

Mimi94 says "So Happy I purchased this Great Steam Iron! " about Kenmore Deluxe Steam Iron

I recently purchased (August 2011) an expensive professional steam iron (Rowenta) which never worked correctly and then refused to work at all within two months of purchase. I sew for various charity causes and needed a very reliable iron. I read the reviews of the Kenmore Deluxe and then drove down to Sears to buy it. I am thrilled with it- I can see how much water is in it- it shuts off after a set period of time but then reheats very quickly- the steam is even and does not sputter and drip - It is a great iron for my needs- penetrating through many layers of fabric easily.

It is not a lightweight iron- at first it felt a little heavy to me but I quickly got used to it. If you depend on an iron for sewing- if you want an iron that performs as it should and a store that stands behind its product then I would recommend this iron. I bought the warrenty simply because I was so "burned" by the previously mentioned lousy product and wanted to make sure I could ...
...

Jeannie144 says "Over Priced-Over Rated" about Kenmore Deluxe Steam Iron

I was very excited to receive this iron due to the flowering review. However, when I received the iron, read the instruction guide and proceeded to use it I discovered that in order to get a blast of steam you must put the iron on cotton or linen. Another feature which is most annoying is the temperature adjustment button. PLUS OR MINUS. I have small hands and everytime I go to iron a piece of clothing my hand apparently touches one or the other either lowering it or raising the temperature. A person with large hands will be constantly re-adjusting this temperature button. It does a nice ironing job if you avoid touching the temperature adjustment button. It is much larger and heavier than my prevous iron.

The cost was very expensive and you only get a 2 year warranty. My advice. Buy a less expensive iron that only has a 1 year warranty and you will still come out ahead....

This machine is awesome! I bought it nearly a decade ago as a novice sewer, and since I was a teen and was paying for it with babysitting money, I needed it to be fairly inexpensive. I was sure this wouldn't last very long, and that I'd need to replace it once I got a better job. Nope! Seven years later, I'm a senior in college and it works just as well now as the day I bought it. I've never had a problem with it that wasn't due to my own error in loading thread or forgetting to do something. It's lightweight, uncomplicated, and offers pretty much every stitch you need that's not embroidery. I love that it's easy to make it go fast or slow, which is great for going slowly around curves or faster on straight areas. It's extremely easy to use--I had only a small amount of experience in machine sewing when I bought it and I rarely had to look at the instructions. In fact, I love it so much I brought it to college with me! As I type, it's sitting in my dorm room. I've even had my friends and......

JoeyJingles says "Nothing more than average operations" about Black & Decker Metal Iron, The Classic

I bought the Black and Decker Classic as a replacement when my regular iron died because the Classic was one of a very few offerings where I was shopping.

The Classic has a very small water fill opening and steady care must be given when filling with water. In addition there is no fill window so a complete guess is required. I fill and shake as a quess. When overfilled water pours out the bottom holes as well as the front fill opening. Every time I use it I end up wanting to chunk it.

The iron has a good grip and feel when using it but the floorplate is not curled well so it also has a tendancy to grab and hold material.

The nose is more rounded than pointed so working in close quarters around pockets is harder that most other options.

In the end I kept this iron for when others suddenly fail and it fills a void until I can get another "good" iron....

Beebs143 says "Tension is a mess if you switch stitches" about Euro-Pro 32-Stitch Sewing Machine

My Singer machine finally died after 34 years. My Mom thought she would surprise me and ordered this machine for me for my birthday. If you are only going to do straight stitching, then I guess this could work for you... When I switched it to a zig zag to finish an edge and went back to a straight stitch, the tension was messed up. The bottom thread is a huge glob that is getting all caught into the bobbin casing.
I have been an avid sewer for over 30 years, and I cannot figure out how to get the tension correct again... Also, threading this thing between 2 discs for the tension is a nightmare.
When I googled the problem, It seems it is a common one and parts are hard to come by. Repair shops consider this machine a disposable one.
Save your money and buy a real brand name machine....

This iron says "Professional" on it, but that's more of a prestigous play on words than a true to life description. A real professional iron does not shut off automatically. And professionals don't like the auto shut off feature that so many of us have come accustomed to and desire.

Performance: This iron removes wrinkles in a flash, is a steam powerhouse and heats up and cools down quickly. It glides effortlessly over fabrics and removes wrinkles in a single pass. It steams so well, that it doesn’t seem to need the burst of steam feature, however it does have this feature. And you may not need sizing or starch because of its good performance on its own. This is important because some people might have allergies to starch or sizing chemicals. And let’s face it, that stuff smells nasty and it’s unhealthy to be breathing.

This unit steams well and DOES steam automatically on wool/silk temperatures but not on nylon settings.

Aesthetics: My iron looks just like the representative picture...
...
