MaryLaBotz says "I love my Kenmore Elite microwave because of it's size(2 cu.ft) " about Kenmore Microwave Ovens

The Kenmore Elite microwave oven is an asset in our household. We've been without a microwave for a long 3 months. This microwave is better than our last one because of it's size (2 cu. ft) and simplicity. I can heat up my casserole dishes because they actually fit! The features of sensory baking are new to me and at first I wasn't sure I liked them or they even mattered. But I save time and guesswork when heating/thawing items. The price was not bad either: $160, but I got one from the sale rack with a scratch on it for $100. I love it!

I also appreciate the friendly service at the Clovis Sierra Vista Mall Sears. Austin was wonderful! He deserves an A+.Thank you for your input and helping me decide on this microwave!
...

RobbyB says "Worst microwave I have ever had" about Kenmore Elite 2.0 cu. ft. Microhood Combination with Even Glide Plus Turntable

Let me list the problems I have had.

1. Tray jumps off the track, this knocks top heavy containers on their side spilling the contents. This also may cause the container to know the top tray off the plastic hooks and when the metal of the tray touches the sides it sparks and burns the surface.

2. Sometimes the display goes out inexplicably, found that unplugging the power and plugging it back in brings it back.

3. The vent does absolutely nothing, steam bellows out and around the microwave face.

4. The vent faceplate broke the two tiny tabs that hold it on so it leans forward unattached now.
...

We bought this countertop oven (Kenmore 721.63252; 1200 watt and 1.2 cu ft according to ****************) a month ago. It replaced an earlier version of this model that served us well for 6-8 years, before it's turntable drive failed. We use this microwave oven mostly for cooking vegetables and reheating food, which it does very well after you have some experience with the controls, which are easy to understand. The present model is a bit larger with a better door action (the old unit's door was more difficult to open), so we're very pleased with it.
...

thouse says "An unmonitered workhorse" about GE Sensor Microwave Oven

The GE Sensor Microwave Oven is super. My favorite feature is the "reheat" button. You can place anything in the over, press that button and walk away. It will beep when finished. Nothing has came out overcooker, tough or 'microwavey.' Even the frozen "tv" dinners don't have that rock-hard spot that my previous oven seemed to cause.

The inner chamber is large enough to hold even my big serving bowls. Cleanup, so far, has been easy. Just wipe. The other mumerous presets seems to all work splendely as the sensor measures the volume of steam generated by the food and will try it's best to prevent overcooking.
...

HaSalesKing says "Great Price Thanks to Mr. Bluelight!" about Emerson 1.1 cu. ft. Microwave Oven w/ Silver Front & Cabinet

I just purchased this Emerson 1.1 cu foot microwave and so far so good.

After aout 10 years of the old rotary dial, I have stepped up to an electronic control panel with options. My 12 year old loves the one-touch button operatiion with his favorite settings preprogrammed (popcorn and dinner plate to name a few) It even has a memory setting to program your own specific times and temps!

I like the added timer feature. In a house with 4 teenagers and a 12 year old this is a must. That way I don't have to keep calling every 5 minutes to ensure that they didn't burn dinner.

Best thing about the microwave so far is the price. Kmart ran a bluelight special on small appliances and I grabbed it up for $70 with the smart plan!
...

In fall of 2002, we purchased all Kenmore Elite appliances for our Retirement home. Being as these would be the last appliances bought, we wanted stainless steel and the best. In 2006, our microwave started "acting up". It turned itself on when no one was around. After three service calls, the serviceman ordered us a new one. Now in Aug. of 2009, less than three years later, we were using the microwave last nite, Aug. 13, to cook a potato. I put the potato in and used the sensing option, like I always do. Left the room and in a few minutes, there was smoke in the kitchen. The microwave had not turned off automatically, like other times, and burnt itself out. Also, after tossing the charcoal lump of potato in the garbage, and putting the garbage outside, we notice that the side of our plastic wastecan was melting. The potato was on fire and we had to use the hose to put the fire out. If we had not put the garbage out on the deck, we would have had a kitchen fire. ...
...

This microwave is great! I defrost food, re-heat, make popcorn, make rice and cook entire meals using this appliance. I would definitely buy a GE microwave again.

The user interface is simple, intuitive and easy to use. The pre-programmed functions are helpful and give good results. I especially love the 1-5 minute one-touch buttons that cook at full power for 1-5 minutes. That covers 75% of the cooking I want to do. It's easy to set the clock and I use the kitchen timer for other cooking tasks.

Since the microwave is installed over the stove, kids tend to pull the door down as they open it. Over time the plastic door handle cracked (twice, I think). This might be the case for any make/model, though. GE's replacement part website is awesome - type in the appliance and model. It shows an exploded diagram and you click on the part you need and they send it out with instructions.

I bought this microwave hood combination last March to replace our old hood vent and gain some counter space in our small kitchen. It was not easy to install. Like our Kenmore dishwasher and garbage disposal, the microwave is NOISEY (I run the dishwasher on my way to bed or we wouldn't be able to watch TV). 3 months ago, the light went out, but due to surgery, it waited. Imagine my surprise when there were NO 30 watt candelabra bulbs available at Sears or Kmart or *****. You can order one through the Sears website for $7.49 plus shipping & tax, or if you are lucky like me, you can find 2 at a local appliance store for $3.25 (including tax). BUT apparently when the bulb blew, it did something else because even with a new bulb, the oven doesn't light. I give up. We will NEVER EVER purchase another Kenmore product. When the next appliance quits, we'll buy Whirlpool...like our replacement refrigerator. We will not buy anything from Sears again. I'd rather pay a little...
...

I have had my GE 1.5 cu. ft. Microwave Oven for two years now and I find it to be satisfactory. Besides the fact that I find it noisy, I really feel for the price, it is the perfect microwave for a student on a budget who will use this for a few years and who will probably end up selling it at the end of their student career (likely for a very very low price). Although it does not some of the fancy heating options like the other microwaves, I feel that it was perfect for me as I never end up using them anyways!
...

If you purchase the Kenmore Elite Microwave, be sure to buy the extended warranty as you will surely need it - and you will need to KEEP extending it. My door handle has broken 3 times (It has to be four times in one year before they admit it's a lemon!) The buttons for the fan, and light keeps getting stuck and has also been replaced a number of times. They have also replaced the whole control panel twice. I strongly suggest picking a different model. I know I will next time. The pro - it looks good, and also cooks very well when it's working.
...

We recently purchased the Kenmore 721.63252 (721.63259) microwave oven. We have had our microwave since we were first married which was over 20 years ago. I went to use it the other day and poof - nothing. My husband the electronics technician said we may have just blown a fuse. He was going to try to repair it. Unfortunately, he is always too busy and there it sat and sat. One day we happened to be at the mall shopping for clothes for mu husband. We happened to be at JC Penney. My husband suggested that we look at their microwaves. Boy, they are expensive and have a very limited selaction. I suggested that we look at Sears. I always see your products on Extreme Makeover Home Edition.

You had a much broader selection and the prices were half what they were at Penneys. We selected this Kenmore partly because of the way it looked and partly because the price seemed so inexpensive. It was around $100.00.

We took it home and plugged it in. I can not believe...
...

When my wife's ancient microwave kicked the bucket, we went to Sears to get a new one. It had to fit in a particular space, so the external dimensions played a large role in our choice. However, we did not have to compromise quality or ease of use to do so.

This microwave will accommodate most large plates, and heats quickly. The controls are very simple, and offers some special features that, while we don't use them often (and, thus, sometimes forget how to use them), have proven useful.

I can definitely recommend this microwave, and have found it to be a great addition to our kitchen.
...

We bought a Kenmore Microwave #20-66229 just two weeks ago. It wasn't worth packing home. When I try to open the door, sometimes the whole unit slides across the counter! This happens intermittently. We are returning it and will try to find a unit that is more reliable and easier to use!

Don't buy this unit!

By the way, this unit may not be the same as the one that is being reviewed by others here. I got this oven from Sear's in Redding CA on day a young pleasant salesperson that is 50/50 chance when shopping there. When I picked it out, the salesman went back to check on supply and when he came back, he said that they only had one, and it was a return, because when the previous customer got it home and opened the box, and decided it was the wrong color for ther kitchen, and returned it back for credit. The salesman said, if we would settle for a returned item, he would give us a 10% discount ,as well as discount, for last one in the store. We have been happy with it's cooking ever since....

Got this for my company's kitchen when a previous one from Sharp
broke down in 2 years. Working very reliably, small footprint.
Easy cleanup with messy users (students and postdoctorates).
Would like one for my home but my brother got replaced it with
a Sharp from Costco. Output is 1100 Watts.
...

Darknight71 says "The Product was terrible." about Kenmore Microwave - 1100 Watt

I had purchased this mirowave from Sears a little over a month ago. I looked through reviews and noticed a lot of negative reviews about this product. I even asked the salesman about the product and he said they were mainly false. He was kinda rude with me and pushy for a sale. My other microwave lasted for 5 yrs but met it's end from a lightning storm.

The Kenmore 1200 watt microwave had all the features I wanted. Great power, inside space and was rated #1 by consumer reports. I purchased the microwave hoping that I wouldn't get a lemon. I had the microwave for approx. 1 month. It heated great and had worked as good as what I read about it. Then a sunday afternoon when I was making supper, I just heated up a couple of items a few minutes earlier. I went to use the microwave again and I had it timed out for 5 minutes. It rang saying it was done cooking and I opened it up, the food was still ice cold. I tried this several times and even unplugged......
