I guess you get what you pay for. The price was pretty decent but the construction of this item is poor. I have had it for maybe two years and the shelves can't withstand normal usage. The sealing strip on the bottom door pulls away from the door almost everytime you open it. I have reset the strip in the groove several times only to have it come off. The bars that hold the items on the door have cracked almost in two. Very disappointed for the quality of the product. I purchased this item thinking the name would guarantee a better appliance.
...

all of my life my mother owned kenmore products. shes shopped at sears forever. if ever she had a problem sears took care of it without hessitation. so when i was in the position to buy my own appliances, ther was no doubt where i was going to go. i went straight to sears. my kenmore refrigerator top freezer model no.62042 is great. its frost free ajustible temperature and easy to clean insides are great. they are going to come out once a year to clean the motor area and make any adjustments thats needed. i purchased the extended 2 year warrenty. if i have any problems of any sort they will be here to fix it.
...

Giradeau says "A quality refrigerator for a very reasonable price." about Kenmore Refrigerator 18.2 cu.ft. No. 77889

We bought our new Kenmore refrigerator about one year ago. It has worked well for us. We wanted a basic unit that was Energy Star compliant, value priced and this one fit the bill. By using our Sears credit card we got free delivery, which was a real saving. This model came with an ice maker which we chose to decline. The unit is much quieter than our older model. We feel it keeps our groceries cold at a uniform temperature. We especially like the humidifier crisper which seeems to keep veggies and such fresher for days longer than the old fridge. The door has a lot of storage and the lower shelf accommodates your tall soda bottles. And, it really is Energy Star compliant as we see a slight lowering of our electric bill. The old fridge was very inefficient. For those on a budget, and who isn't these day, we think the Kenmore 18.2 cu foot is a real bargain.
...

KITTY77 says "Keeps our refrigerator alive" about Repair Center Kenmore refrigerator

We have a Kenmore refrigerator that was purchased new in August of 1980. The Sears Appliance Repair Center has kept it working during all those years. I don't know if it was cost effective or not to keep repairing it, but I've had repairmen from other companies say that appliances from that era were designed to last a lifetime or to be replaced once. Each time, it was possible to do a good repair. A clip that holds a shelf broke and we were going without until the repairman came to fix something else and he ordered it for us. I assumed that it would be impossible to find a part like a tiny clip.

I've looked at new refrigerators and what I would love to have is too expensive and too big for the space where mine has to fit. The models its size have no advantages over what we already own, so we'll keep calling the Sears Appliance Repair Center in the future.
...

We had bought a forclosed home for my new blended family of eight. We have to budget every little thing, but we are happy and have all that we could ever need. Of course we needed appliances, and we chose Sears and Kenmore for the reputation, quality, and price. We also knew we'd be getting a good guarantee behind our purchases. This refridgerator was the best deal for the size we wanted. Of course, we wish we could have gotten bigger, fancier, more frills, but it had to do and it has!! We manage to fill it full of food for our brood and yet, if we had more room, we probably could not afford the food to go in it weekly!! So, we are happy with this model. The only thing I could say bad about it is that it comes too far out from the wall and we have to make sure we don't bump ourselves or others on our countertop corner to avoid the fridge door!! But that's the fault also of the countertop installers!! So, I don't have anything bad to say about this fridge; it keeps all...
...

We were looking for a refrigerator/freezer that was energy efficient to replace an old model we had in our basement for all those times that the one in the kitchen is just not enough. We got the Kenmore Top Freezer Refrigerator Model 795.7930 (black). We got a great deal as it was on sale and we got an additional 15% off the sale price on a promotional sale. This model has it all, ice maker, water dispenser and plenty of room in both the refrigerator and the freezer. All this and energy star as well. It was just what we were looking for and has been working well for us for about a month now. The only draw-back making it a"four star" instead of a "five star" purchase is I noticed the replacement water filters run about $40! seems a bit much (5% of the cost of the whole unit wow). Overall though we are very happy with this purchase.
...

Our old Kenmore was carted out with much ceremony two years ago. After a quarter century of kid's pictures, report cards and upcoming appointments taped to the outside, it's inside was still delivering service but at a 1980 efficient level. The Kenmore Elite that took its place is just as reliable but at about 40% less the energy required. The glass shelves and interior are easy to clean and keep sanitary. The controls are reliable and the ice maker churns out its specialty as requested. I think I'll need to be carted out long before this new Kenmore Elite. It's made long in efficiency and durability.

LenoraMaeKeatonBell says "Kenmore Replaces Frustration with Organization!" about Kenmore Refrigerator - Top freezer 21.7 cubic ft - 74209

The Elite Sears Kenmore 74209 is economical and comes with 21.7 cubic feet of well organized space. It not only brought a bright spot to my kitchen but also to my face. The arrangement gives me more than enough room for all my condiments and drinks in the door. The top freezer is a plus for me and I enjoy the ice dispenser inside the door. Too many times in my old refrigerator someone went for crushed ice on the outside dispenser and I found myself sweeping their leftovers off the floor. Plus I have always liked the freezer on top as it seems to give me more than enough adequate space for my small family and leaves more space for refrigerated items.

I wish Sears still made them! Plus I wish they were in bright and bold colors, as I like to change the style of my kitchen from time to time. Yet overall this Kenmore refrigerator has replaced a lot of old frustration with amazing organization in one of the most needed places in my kitchen and life.

My wife and I purchased a refrigerator in 12/2006. I had a Sears service repairman come to my home and he quoted $858.56 to repair a $400 appliance. I guess I had an expectation for a Kenmore appliance to last more than 3 years. I was even hoping Sears Inc. would offer some help and stand behind their product. There were no recalls or service errors in their database. I guess I got the lemon. Sears did offer 10% off up to $100 after you purchased a new product. So the big question is should I roll the dice again and trust Sears? This recession seems to even have this big company scared. I guess I'll have to adjust my expectations, because this giant seems to be going down like the rest of American companies. God help us all. Let's see if they have the guts to post this review.

We just purchased this refrigerator/freezer for my dad. His old one died the day before Thanksgiving after 20 years of faithfull sevice. The old one was a big monster size of 25 cubic feet. Now that all the kids have grown and moved on the new smaller size fits his needs better. It has an ice maker, easy to see and adjust temperature controls. The plus is the easy for him to reach cold cut drawer just under the top refrigerator shelf. The shelves on the door are large and roomy for condiment jars, sodas and quick grab items.

Dad is happy with his new appliance and knows that the Kenmore quality will last and give him no worries
...

MandPS says "Kenmore 19.0 cu.ft. Top Freezer Refrigerator Model 69974 " about Kenmore Kenmore Bisque 19.0 cu.ft. Top Freezer Refrigerator Energy Star

This works well and is quiet. The problem lies in the design. When you open the door to the refrigerator, you cannot see what is inside - you literally have to bend over or scrouch down to see. Two more big cons are: the top area of the inside has a water dispenser across the front which greatly reduces your vision of the top shelf items and there is a huge panel for the temperature controls and the light that take up so much space you can't even fit a milk carton in without bringing the top shelf way, way down. So even though it is 19 cu. ft., it's actually more like 15 cu.ft of space. When you see this item in the store, we suggest you stand right in front of it as you would at home and open the door - you will find you are looking straight at the freezer door. This is absolutely the worst designed refrigerator we have ever had and we had to return it because of this.

We highly recommend not buying this item. We understand that this particular Kenmore was built...
...

We bought this fridge a couple of years ago and are happy with it. The fridge does not have lot of space but it's fine for our small family. It also doesn't have ice maker but for us, that wasn't a big deal; the ice trays that come with the fridge meet our needs. The fridge was more competitively priced compared to other similar ones we saw. The only thing about the fridge we don't like is that b/c of its steel color, it can easily show finger prints, so you need to clean the door of the fridge at least once a week to wipe off the prints.
...

I bought a GE because I had owned one before and was very pleased with it. I'm sorry to say that this one is awful. This fridge is supposed to be frost free. Well, my ice pops, bagels and breads have little crystals of ice on them. I got a replacement and have the same problem. My kitchen is narrow and I need a fridge with a width of 28". GE seems to be the only company that makes this width. Another reviewer mentioned that the motor is noisy. Not only is it noisy but it makes a lot of different noises. Much to my dismay, I will have to pick out another GE because of my kitchen space problem. I hope that problem is soon solved....

The primary reason for selecting this unit was its low energy consumption, and its ability to fit in an existing space. It meets both those criteria.

The unit is disappointingly noisy. I suspect the noise is due to the design of the flow or air from the refrigerator to the freezer: the air moves through a channel in the front door, and when the door is opened, the noise subsides slightly. A service rep came out after we bought it and said that's just how the refrigerator runs. I regret having purchased this applicance.

The refrigerator also lacks sufficient space to store a 1-dozen box of eggs in the egg compartment. This is an very odd design flaw.
...

I bought this kenmore model (253.6818280) because it was supposed to have a low noise compressor. I had 3 different units put in my house, each one noisier than the one before. The second one was not even new... Finally I had to stop taking off from work to recieve them, so I settled and accepted it. It makes a loud noise like marbles dropping on a tile floor most every time it starts up. I can easily hear it from my bedroom 30'+ away. The fan makes a whirrring sound and sometimes a buzzing sound.

The cooling works good, but the noise is not worth it.
...

Whatever you do, don't buy a 18.2 cu. ft. top freezer refrigerator from Sears (ours was Kenmore model #77874). We bought ours in March 2008 and it didn't even last 18 months! Several weeks ago, it just stopped. We called Sears in Ithaca, and they wouldn't service it because we hadn't bought the extended warranty (we kind of expected the refrigerator to last at least 2 years). So we called in the local appliance fixer, who told us he got "lots of calls" on this model. He took it apart and showed us the problem - defective assembly, which resulted in a defrost wire making a hole in the evaporator coil. The whole thing was dead. Had to get a new condenser unit, which he installed - overall, it cost us more than $350!

I called Sears and they referred me to a unit that specializes in "products that break too soon" (seriously). After talking to two women who indicated Sears would likely do something for us, I got the last woman, who said I was out of luck because I didn't get...
...

cyndyblack says "This has been a nightmare!" about Kenmore 20.6 cu. ft. Top Freezer Refrigerator

I purchased this refrigerator 6/3/09, delivered the next day with a huge dent in the front. They took it back. Waited two more days, they installed it; ok. We went on vacation, when we came back a week later, the frig. and freezer had stopped working, even though lights were on and motor running; no cooling! All food spoiled. what a welcome home present! Called Sears to complain, went to store and picked another model. The next day they took the old frig. out, installed new (different one) and so far, so good for 3 whole days! This will be my last attempt to buy a major appliance at Sears.
...

ska says "My aching back" about Whirlpool 21.0 cu. ft. Top Freezer Refrigerator

Whirlpool 21.0 cu. ft. Top Freezer Refrigerator Why would anyone want a refrigerator on the bottom? Which do you go into more times a day? Refrigerator or freezer? Does cold rise or drop? Put the freezer on the bottom. Cold drops to keep freezer cold easier. You are not bending over all day long. However, having top freezer beats side-by-side. There is more room for things like pizza which don't fit in side-by-side. The Whirlpool name has always had a good reputation. If there are problems, I am sure they would want to take care of them.
...

WasaSearsfan says "These don't last a long time " about Kenmore 21.6 cu. ft. Top-Freezer Refrigerator w/ Ice Maker

I will not be buying anymore Kenmore appliances since the refrigerator died after only 9 years. Everything the Sears employees stated was inaccurate, for example what time the repairman would be to my house was inaccurate. The repairman told me I would have a voucher the next day that was inaccurate, it was 5 days later because he was at my house on a Thursday and Sears states 2-3 business days. The salesmen did not even know what size models that Sears sold. Customer Service told me to call after 6 pm to get the delivery time, I called after 6 pm, was told they will call me at 9pm. I told them to get me a supervisor and stated the supervisor would tell me the same. I asked for their name and employee ID, They hung up but I did have their name. I called 2 other people on put me into the Spanish line when I asked for a supervisor I got her name and her location number the third person finally put me through to a supervisor who was apathetic when I told them how the associates behavior was...
...
