We installed this oven in new construction. It cooks evenly, is very easy to use, and looks very nice. It takes a bit of gettin used to as the bottom element is under the bottom of the oven floor. so, anything that drips on it will burn up and smoke.

jen-air used to be very good but really went downhill quick. I had a 10 year old model that broke right after the first year. (Same internal parts as this one) Slowly each burner had issues, knobs broke, glass pitted, and then the downdraft went. Within 8 years of buying I had to replace it. My friend did not listen to me bought this model and immediately had issues. Look at ***************.org, Jen-Air has the highest failure rate. Go with a G.E....

It looks good but little tough to clean. One main disadvantage is that It sucks in Flame when the exhaust is on towards the vent no matter what speed and as a result uneven heating while cooking. There is a design flaw and apparently Jen air won't accept this. But when Sears tech called Jen-Air, the they said that it is a known issue with this cook top. I can clearly see that there is a design flaw. There is a gap between the center grill and the body of the cook top and that exhaust is pulling flame from there. The work around they gave was to put in 3 more filters and that did not work either. I am sure it can be easily fixed by putting in some silicon washer around it. Hopefully they will come up with that in the future until then I will not buy this. I am returning this and getting a Kenmore Elite 36 inch down draft. I will write a review on that after it is installed. I would suggest you thinking twice before buying this until they fix that problem. Also don't get carried away by...
...

SearsDSM says "Easy to use, easy to keep clean, energy efficient" about GE Profile 36" Electric Induction Cooktop PHP960

We remodeled our kitchen and after much consideration, I decided to purchase an induction cooktop. I have worked in commercial kitchens previously, and thought I had wanted gas, but it was prohibitively expensive to run a gasline to the kitchen. From what I had read about induction, I thought it was a good compromise. I've been using it for 4 months now and it was worth the expense to replace a few pots and pans. I can set the "heat" level to low and soups and sauces do not scorch or burn. Liquids boil amazingly fast. I like that the controls are integrated into the cooktop--easy to keep clean. I can spray the entire surface down and wipe. Because the elements don't produce heat, you don't get the burnt on foods typical of glass top electric cooktops. It doesn't heat up the kitchen quite as much either.

For the cons, which are picky, because I really am pleased with this and would get it again. I want 6 burners, not 5. And pans and pots crowd each other out if you use all 5 burners. There...
...

Love the smooth surface. No raised coils for food to drop down into anymore.

Pans sit level on cooktop. No unlevel cooking anymore.

The only downside was that I lost some of my underneath shelf space because the blower attaches differently than my old one. But that was not really significant. I only had my oils, vinegars, and cooking wines there. So I got rid of some of them.

It looks so much more modern and goes very well with my stainless oven and microwave that I got earlier. Enjoying my updated kitchen. Hope these new GE models last as long as my other ones -- 16 years!!
...

The installation of the oven was quite simple and fit into the space of my old Caloric oven perfectly. The new oven does not have a vent to the outside, which is disappointing because of the additional heat and some fumes that enter the kitchen as a result. It is very noticeable compared to my old oven. However, it appears most, if not all manufacturers, are now venting to the room, which is hardly energy efficient especially in Texas. This adds to my home's air conditioning load nearly 9 months of the year. To my surprise, the first time I fired up the oven, my smoke detector, which is about 12' away, alarmed. There was no obvious smoke in the room, but the detector picked up fumes from the oven. The fumes were apparently caused by a protective coating (for shipping purposes) on the interior of the oven that burns off on first use of the oven. The oven does not have a self cleaning feature. Since I wanted a separate broiler section and required an oven that fit into my existing......

I'm a person who loves to bake; however since we've only had the oven for about a week or so, I haven't had time to bake. I'm looking forward to it, though, because of my limited experience so far with the oven. My mother lives with me, and does most dinners during the week when I work. A couple of times she has wondered how to work the oven. That is the best feature of the oven. All you have to do (if you want to bake) is push the Bake button, then Up and Down arrow keys to the desired temperature. the food comes out evenly cooked through and not burned on the bottom (as my very old oven did). The oven will beep when it has preheated and is ready to bake at the desired temperature. Very sleek and shiny both outside and inside. The racks are coated, which is a nice feature considering the older racks were just metal. I'm looking forward to using this oven in the future! A very good investment!
...

ADoItYourselfer says "Whirlpool Gold GLS3064R Cooktop Replaces Old Cooktop" about Whirlpool 30" Gas-On-Stainless Cooktop GLS3064R

I replaced an old Caloric cooktop with the Whirlpool Gold GLS3064R in part because I liked the design and features of the cooktop, but primarily because it was the closest dimensional match to my old cooktop. Most cooktops appear to generally protrude about 4" or slightly more below the top of the countertop. This cooktop only projects 2 - 27/32" below the countertop, about the same as my old cooktop. This was important because I had 3 drawers below the cooktop that would have been virtually useless with the projection of most cooktops. One thing I found is that there is a clip and screw below the countertop on the short ends of the cooktop that holds the cooktop tightly to the countertop. These screws project down beyond the 2 - 27/32" dimension, but I dealt with this by shortening the screws such that only approximately the screw head depth projected below this dimension. I had to enlarge the countertop cutout some, but that did not present a problem. Overall the installation......

I am concerned about the comments in the use and care guide that related to self cleaning. "Hairline cracks" that may appear in the glass and enamel that won't affect the quality of the cooking? Manufacturers need to get all the issues with self cleaning wall ovens figured out-non-stop problems with overheating etc. Hope this one is better than the whirlpool it replaced!
