I purchased the Foodsaver Kit in late summer. Although my perserving/canning tasks had minimized from our garden, the Foodsaver made a huge impact. It is easy to use and the kit has everything you need to get started.

I've had it now for about 4 months and it has more than paid for itself already. We're able to buy bulk items, separate them and vacuum seal portions more appropriate for my husband and me. I have the canisters and marinator on my list to purchase in the near future.

I love this little machine! My husband and I are "empty nesters" now, so we don't go through things like cheese & lunch meat very fast and often find ourselves throwing lots of food away...but not anymore! Now, we can keep a brick of cheese for months! The lunch meat still doesn't last a super long time, but I bet we can extend the life of an opened package of lunch meat by at least another 7 to 10 days when we reseal it in one of the Food Saver bags and use this nifty handheld device to suck out the air.

This machine is always plugged in and is now a permanent fixture on my counter. It's great for any leftovers. We've also used it for dinner rolls, bread & tortillas, which now last us much longer before getting dried out and/or moldy. Just be careful not to suck out too much air when storing soft items like rolls, bread, etc. or they will get squished.

The bags are a bit pricey, but they are quite heavy duty. I wash and reuse the bags many, many times before they need to be...

My husband bought me the Kenmore Seal and Save for my birthday and I have found a new way to save money. The machine is easy to use, easy to clean and when I open an item I have sealed I don't have to worry about freezer burn. I would definitly recommend this to anyone. Great!

Basically buy meat and other Items on sale custom packages and freeze The new ones have a moist setting so liquid doesnt get sucked into the vacuum part of the machine still becareful with it I get around the liquid limitation by freezing the liquid first in an appropriately sized container. Once frozed solid, I pop it out & vac bag it. I like to freeze the meat that I buy on sale in some sort of marinade so that when it's thawed it's ready to go. It's a little messy, but if you're doing a bunch of meat at once it's a single clean up. I have a Food Saver, with the on board storage for a roll & with an on board "slicer" to cut the bag from the roll. I really like it. It does have a large footprint, however. It's best to keep the thing out on the counter if you can so that you will use it more. It is worth every penny!!!...

I bought this sealer and it doesn't even seal things completely If I knew it was going to be this bad I would had never bought this sealer. Everyone out there DONT BUY THIS SEALER....

My daughter gave me a seal -n-save appliance I now own an appliance that help me become a thirtfy care free out of the kitchen fast cook my seal-n-save can be mounthed on the wall or the cabinet door or wait on the counter top to seal freezable and boilable pouches of food.My seal-n-save appliance and my freezer let me cook when I care to once I started to use my seal-n-save I wouldn't be caught without it To keep the seal-n-save appliance in top working order wipe the unit clean with a damp cloth and clean the sealing bar with a dry paper or cloth. seal-n save saves me time and after I begin to use the pouches I discover another terrific saving more space,the pouches store flat in my freezer.Ilove my seal-n-save appliance,it is worth the money it cost.It is a great investment.

I am so glad I bought a Foodsaver. It is so easy to use and seals up very nice. Foodsaver has even made attachments to remove air from canning jars and zippered bags. The rolls of Foodsaver bags are great for creating your own custom size. Get this- it will really help save you money by avoiding throwing out so many spoiled groceries!!!

The Foodsaver Vacuum Sealer quit sealing after 5 months of use. Motor still ran but the heating element quit working. When the unit did work it sealed in the flavor great. I still have food I sealed with the Foodsaver that looks as fresh as when I first sealed them. I am sold on the vacuum sealer systems, but I am going to replace my Foodsaver with a different brand. The price was good, lowest I found, but I think I got what I paid for....

I've been using the Kenmore uncut 8" Seal-n-Save rolls for several years to freeze and store everything from wild game to garden vegetables to baked goods. For cost savings I buy large quantities of meat from a local food club, divide the packages into more family-friendly sizes and freeze them in the bags for future use. The bags are of good quality and my frozen products are of the same quality when taken from the freezer. I just purchased two new rolls from my local Sears store for freezing my 2011 garden surplus. Being able to cut my own size from this roll is a plus as there is no waste and in these tough economical times we all should be looking into ways to preserve and save and usiing these bags does the trick for me.

I take it camping- when there is a half bag,or left overs -bag and seal-noone should be without it (expecially if you have a fisherman with you!) no smelly coolers!...

My machine is just over 1 year old. I loved it because it was so easy to use BUT, like others here have noted, the upper and lower gaskets split or tear. No problem, I thought, I'll just order the replacement part that is listed in the manual that comes with the product.

After contacting the parts department by email and then by phone, I found out that they don't bother selling the parts listed in the manual. And it's not as if you're using this thing every day and wear it out. It's something you might use once a month at that.

So now I have a $100 doorstop. Sears used to be known for its quality appliances, but we now shop elsewhere after having a similar problem with a dehumidifier that went dead after about 14 months. So much for Kenmore quality and service.

I was looking for a reasonably priced air-pump vacuum system for food storage and didn't want the silly lid-lock vent type. Some pump systems can be very pricey but this was in my budget. This Technochef works by locking down the lid, then placing the air pump unit on the lid, then pumping it up and down until the little blue bubble deflates downward. To release the air (the lid cannot open until you do this) pull up on the air release valve on the lid, the small blue bubble pops upward and then you can open the lid. I wasn't so sure I liked the lock down lid, but with the vacuum pump system, the lid remains very sealed. Only time will tell if the lock-down plastic sides will withstand the test of constant use but so far I've had this set for 7 months and it's been ok! I like the rectangle shapes because they stack inside each other (the pump fits in the middle of them) and the lids stack upright and fit the overhead cabinet just right. Very easy to use, store and clean. I store potato...
