kozmicblues1169 says "Kemore Power Miser 6 40 gallon water heater, great service." about Kenmore Power Miser 6 Water Heater

This Kenmore electric water heater power miser 6, model 153.326463, replaced a Power Miser 8 installed in 1983. After having a bad experience with a Craftsman leaf blower my faith in Sears is restored. Reading reviews is a good thing. What is great about this installation is that the master plumber who hooked it up had inadvertently wired the unit wrong, consequently it did not heat water. I was discouraged and called Sears to see what could be done. The repair person I spoke to asked several questions. He asked what color wires were hooked to what. I had watched the plumber hook them up so I knew. Without a doubt he said the wires were connected improperly. I turned off the unit at the fuse box and connected the wires the repair person said. Also I checked the reference manual and this corrected the problem. Like I said the last heater a Power Miser 8 lasted since 1983, 26 years, without even the anode being replaced. When buying appliances I will see Sears first and see Sears last........
...

This is about the Sears 55 Water heater. I bought my home in 1980 and the water heater was there then. 30 years is a long time to have a water heater in place. I have enjoy hot water always, even when running more than one appliance( dish washer, washing machine).

i know someday soon i may have to replace this older model with a new one. when that times comes i intend to purchase from Sears another 55 model as it served me for this long i would hope the new one will do as well. Sorry Sears but you made this model i have without putting in the planned obsolesence.
...

JDC says "Beware Your warranty may be useless" about Kenmore Power Miser 9, 40 Gallon, Electric Water Heater

I have a Kenmore Power Miser 9. Model # 153.32946 Serial # G04136386. I purchased the original unit in Nov. of 2003. I replaced it due to leaking in Jan 2005. In 2005, Sears was superb in honoring the warranty. Today the unit I have started leaking. I called the retail store I have frequented first and was told I need to call the "water hot line" 1-800-469-4663. I did and got another number to call. I then called the service # 1-800-251-5630. I was told that it will cost me $75 to have someone come out to tell me it is leaking. (MMMM I think I know that due to the water all over the floor) Then they tell me the technician can only come 9 days from now. You tell me if this is an honorable practise of servicing a warranty. I told the individual on the phone that this was unacceptable. I asked to speak with his manager. After several minutes of waiting he came back on and said he tried to get the service tech to do an emergency call. Since the tech had gone home already, I need to call tomorrow...
...
