This table top hot water heater replaced the same type Kenmore model that was originally installed in our S. Florida home around 1985... and lasted until 2012! I was very happy to find they still had a similar table-top model that fit in the same space next to my clothes washer and dryer and provides a great folding or storage area. It doesn't even look like a hot water heater,and with the 40 gallon capacity and quick recovery time I've never run out of hot water, even with appliances running and teenagers in the shower!...

Purchased thinking it was the best available......when hot water ran out after 1 5 minute shower,called for service.......serviceman ststed that the heater could be run at 110vac or 220vac,and that heater was set for 110vac......I later found this to be a lie as it is only able torun at 220vac.........sometimes the hot water lasts for 10 minutes before getting cold,but not very often.will let it sit for 2 hours before it will provide 1 more shower.......very disappointed with Sears/Kenmore.......never again!!!!

I installed this water heater myself using crimp style connections on year ago. The old 20 year old heater (still working when I replaced) was soldered, I simply cut the old connections and used the old wiring as well. Overall, an easy install. Heater gives you the option to only connect two of the three electrical connections to save on energy use, but I found that you need to run at full 240V for effective recovery. So far the heater is working fine. Hopefully it will last at least 12 years total.

Installed the water heater and it did not work. Tried every thing possible to figure out if I installed it wrong before calling Sears to send out a service tech. Well they sent out a tech and he discovered that both of the elements were bad. BRAND NEW WATER HEATER!! Go figure. Needless to say, they did not charge us for the call!! :) It's been working great ever since!!

I purchased this from Sears about 5 months ago.

When the water coming in was above 50 degrees it worked great.

I figured since I lived in a cold climate where that water drops to about 37 degrees that the eco27 was the model for me since it has 3 heating elements.

My problem is that I can only take a hot shower for 4 to 5 minutes and then it goes cold. I have left the water running several times to try and figure out the problem.

When I haven't used any hot water in hours... and I turn on the shower... I get hot water. I then go to my utility room where the water heater is installed and the LED screen is lit up which means it should have a flow rate of .25GPM or greater which it does... Without doing anything but waiting 4 or 5 minutes... the LED just turns off and the once hot water becomes cold water. None of the breakers are blown when this problem happens and if I turn the dial to adjust the temperature it lights up but after 20 seconds or so just turns back off. I can turn...

I purchased this unit 6 years ago and have always been happy with the amount of hot water it delivers. Recently the hot water decreased and I called Sears to report the problem since it was still under warranty (12 Years Limited Parts and Labor). Sears gave me an appointment within 3 days, and the technician came (at the end of the appointment time). He diagnosed the problem and made the repairs. The thermostats needed to be replaced. It cost me less than $150.00 (Parts and Labor) and I now have volumes of hot water again. I recommend this water heater....

Sears customer service is absolutely horrible!!! I was promised in an emergency situation that my hot water heater would be installed in the same day. I was also promised that someone would call within an hour to discuss the part. Both promises made by Sears was broken. Do not order service from Sears!!! I was called 2 hours later and told that no one can come until 2 days later!!! I could have called someone else. Do not order service from Sears, they break their promises.

Kenmore 40 gal. Electric Water Heater arrived a day late. Heating element was bad. Was a 4 day wait for service technician to come out, and be told two week wait for part. Went to ********** and bought a new element for $ 8.57. Original heating element was pitted, corroded, had a split and two burn spots. To long to be without hot water.

Boiler works ok. No mechanical problems so far. Recovery time takes longer than expected. Energy usage is moderate. Consider looking at energy efficient models instead.

Purchased this water heater in April 2005. Have had nothing but problems. Yesterday woke up to find it leaking all over master closet and bedroon floor. Of course Sears hot line was not open because it was the day after Christmas. When we contacted them today, we were told it would be several days before a tech could come out to check the tank at a cost to us of $75. If they determine that it is indeed the tank leaking (duh!!) they will order a replacement for us but it could take a couple of weeks to get. The 12 year warranty isn't worth the paper it is written on. Don't waste your money on this heater.

This is without a doubt the worst house utility purchase I have ever made. Our old 50 gallon propane water heater gave up the ghost about 2 years ago. We have an 80 gallon jacuzzi which we could never fill with hot water from the old water heater. For that reason and because propane costs had risen so much, we decided to add 230V electrical wiring and buy this water heater from Sears. We had the electrician put in the jumper that permits fast hot water recovery. First, my guess is that the energy efficiency rating for this water heater probably comes only when set at the lowest 120 degree setting which is barely luke warm. Second, we get nowhere near a full jacuzzi tub full of hot water even after turning the two thermostats in this thing to 150 degrees and waiting an hour to make sure it is heating properly. The initial investment in the electrical and cost of this hot water heater is the only reason that we haven't thrown it away. When it breaks, it's gone and we go back...

my father recently purchased a walk in tub. His previous 40 gal, 5 yr old, electric water heater, could not keep up. He picked out this 55 gal Kenmore and let's just say, size does matter. He can now fill the tub to within 2 inches from the very top with hot water and be able to enjoy the tub's jets. Sears seriously messed up with the delivery and installation process, but that's a whole other issue.

We had our water tank fail one evening and found this model and line and our local strore had it in stock! We ordered it the nex morning and paid for the heater and install in full by credit card at 9:30 am and we were told we would be installed sometime that afternoon and that we would get a phone call by 12 noon. By 1:30 pm we still hadn't heard from Sears and my wife called to inquire. We were told that the incompetent customer service rep NEVER processed our order and further more, even though our tank was in stock and paid in full, we wouldnt be installed for another 5 days as they were "busy"! We were obviously outraged and called numerous times to get this resolved, including a call to the Sears corporate office to let them know we were mishandled and misled. Their own website states "Same day install if ordered by noon". Furthermore, we didnt call on a weekend or a holiday, we called on Wed. Nov. 30th.! The "best" answer my wife was given was that they were sorry we felt upset and......
