MOMP says "As always, the Rutland VT Sears Store provides top rate service." about Tires & Oil change Service automotive

The Sears Store in Rutland, VT continues to provide excellent customer service. I have never had a bad experience there. In fact, I always come away feeling like i got great service. A rarity these days. My recent experience was when I sent my son to the store to use my credit card to purchase tires for his truck. While most would make this a difficult, at best, transaction, Sears made it relatively easy while taking the proper steps to ensure the security of my account. Thanks, Sears!
...

cazzina22 says "BAD BATTERY WORSE SERVICE" about DieHard International

Will pay extra for quality, safety and convenience for family car. I was told that Diehard batteries were good, well then later told that now they're made in Mexico so they're not. My main concern is that my battery was less than 2 years old, car died while on my way to work. Called auto club and got a jump start, drove to Sears, waited 35 minutes in line as there was only 1 guy on working the counter at 2:45 P.M. When my turn comes he tells me that it will be at least 2 hours till they can even look at my car, told him it was just my battery and I was towed and car would not start again, he said it didn't matter. Called husband, he left work to come and remove the battery so that they can exchange it as it was still under warranty and the auto club guy said it had a dead cell and I should not drive it. Stood in line again for another 25 minutes, then we were told that we had to leave the battery for 3 hours for it to charge. Told him this was ridiculous that I did not have all this time...
...

I spent hour online researching tires for my Kia, wanting to use searscard for the purchase. I printed out the tires ( 3 different ones all terrain) to take to the sears store nearest me (45 miles away). I just purchased this used car which badly needed tires.

I was greeted in a friendly way, told the salesman what I had come in for. He goes to computer puts in what I want, and says there are no tires even that size in their store. Told him I dorve from another state for tires, He showed me a goodyear tire, the "only one that would go on my car, but I would have to size up. I got them, but they were twice the amount I was prepared to spend. upset, but did it anyway. There were many tires in the showroom with sale signs on them but none for my car. I got one not on sale.

I guess my complaint is really with the online site which seems to not be up to date with what is in your stores.
...

I bought a set of Michelin Cross Terrain tires size P255/70/16 (109S) for my 2001 Ford Sport Trac from the Sears here in Elizabethtown, KY and I then put a hundred thousand miles on them without a bit of trouble. They are great tires but the Sears Service Center tried to screw me into paying for new ball joints at 80,000 miles. I didn't trust the Sears mechanic so I took my truck to the Ford garage the next day and they showed me there was nothing wrong with the ball joints. I love the tires and the deal that I got on them, but I am afraid to go back to Sears Auto because they are crooked. They have a bad rep.
...

I have been driving a Used Certified 2009 Pontiac GT G6 with only 15,308 miles. I have had to contend with this terrible "squeaking noise" coming from my right front brakes since I had purchased the car in June. The dealership mechanics kept saying there is nothing wrong and the brakes were normal. Apparently they must be deaf as well as dumb!

I went to the SW Plaza Auto Center and "Auggie" the mechanic knew exactly what the problem was and he repaired it. "Auggie" machined the rotors as the front brake pads were glazed over.

The service representatives and mechanics were all very nice and communicated very well on the work that needed to be done.
...

BillKace says "Cheap parts and inferior workmanship ! Don't use them" about Sears brake service

I had a complete brake job on a 2002 Chevy Trailbazer with new front rotors and brake pads on all 4 wheels. Within 16000 miles the front and rear rotors were shot and all rotors and pads needed to be replaced at a nice cost of $841.58!! All this after spending over $600 on the first job! Cheap inferior parts are being used and / or poor workmanship is to blame for this. Customer support was useless in resolving any issues with this leading me to no other recourse but to contact the BBB. This is not the first time I had issues with brake work done by Sears! I had a complete brake failure on a 2000 GMC Sonoma pickup after Sears replaced the rear brakes but did not replace the springs on the pads! Not a lot of fun going thru a toll booth at 70 MPH with no brakes!! I do not recommend having Sears do anything more then changing your oil! And I do not recommend getting any work done at the Rt 9 store in Old Bridge NJ where I had my work done! Go to Midas where they give you a lifetime...
...

After having more than on Optima (yellow and red top) die on me out of the blue. I needed to find a much better battery. After much research I found the Platinum series release, which are built by Odessey Batteries, a very top notch company. I decided to put one in right before our multiday offroad trip to El Camino Del Diablo trail in very southern AZ. This area is very remote (listed as one of the most remote areas in the 48 states) and we were doing this trip solo, I wanted to make sure my Jeep would start each time. There is no roadside assistance, AAA or even cell coverage and I wanted to be 100% sure it would start. I was very happy with my purchase.

Almost a year later I still have the same feelings about buying the Platinum. Since our Jeep Cherokee is a weekend toy, it may sit for weeks, even a month with the alarm armed. Each time I come out, it starts with no problems and does so with more authority than any other battery I have had it in. We have also added...
...

I drive 100 miles round trip each day mostly on the interstate (about 75%). My tires were bought with a 65,000 mile tread warranty and I just turned 110,000 on the set. Because I value "value" more than anything I need a tire I can count on for the long haul. Monthly pressure checks, rotation every 5-6,000 miles and if not for the fact I live in state expecting snow shortly...I would put another 5,000 more on these easily. At this point I see no belt on any of the 4 tires, and I have good tread left on 3 of the 4...the 4th has one bald spot. Honestly, when I get a new set put on shortly, I plan on taking the two best tires, get an extra set of rims, and use them as full size spares.
...

Hi all, I bought the die hard plug in 140 watt dc to ac power inverter because it was on sale for less than $20.00 and it so happens that we had a power outage due to storm. I plugged it in car lighter and ran extension cord into house and plugged in lamp and we played games at table until power came back on. About 4 hours passed and power was restored and inverter did not over heat , nor did battery on car run down! I like this product, worth the money even if not on sale! God Bless............,Dice
...

I recently had my truck serviced at the sears automotive center. I went in for a tire rotation and NYS inspection. They luckily found a problem with my brakes that I was unaware of and was a huge safety risk. However the prices I paid for parts on the reciept were 2 to 3 times higher than what I would have paid elsewhere. This is what will most likely keep me from coming back to have anything done to my vehicle. I hope you use this review to better the services you provide to your customers so you might be able to keep them coming back.
...

I recently purchased four new tires and of course, the road hazard warranty along with them. Since then I had to have one tire fixed because our next door neighbor put on a new roof and one of the roofing nails ended up in my tire and yesterday I hit a brick that was laying at the end of my driveway. Needless to say, my tire was busted. I took the tire back to the Sears automotive department today and they replaced my tire, rotated all my tires, and gave me a 24 point inspection for less than $12.00. A new tire for less than $12.00. The $10.00 warranty saved me approximately $140.00! So, moral of my review, never buy a new tire without the road hazard warranty!
...

Just purchased a set of 4 Goodyear Assurance tires (P22560H16) for my car. Had a flat as I caught a piece of metal commuting into work and stopped at the Sears outlet on my way home for a tire repair. First the service tech tried to repair tire without success and given the state of the other 3 tires on the car I decided that it was prudent to replace all 4 tires before the winter season began around here as I probably would have wished I had done it come December or January. The Service tech and saleperson were very informed as to my needs and only proceeded with my request without proding. The service tech was actually grateful that I decided to go the route I was going as he wasn't to comfortable with the option of repairing a tire that probably wasn't going to hold up to my commute. I guess the only down side is that the tires were not on the buy 3 get one free deal that Sears was advertizing in the window when I pulled in. That being said I wanted a premium tire...
...

SWRdRunner says "DO NOT USE THEM!" about Aastro Transmission

About 5 months ago our van broke down. We limped it to the closest garage who said it was the transmission that was shot. They recommended we take it to AASTRO Transmission. They said that many people had recommended them and liked them. We did as they recommended even tho we had a mechanic that normally worked on our cars. Now we are VERY sorry we did that.

They advertised that they would check out your car for free. Well, after doing the "free" inspection, they said they had to do a more thorough inspection to find out exactly what was wrong and that would cost $150. We foolishly agreed to that. Once that was done, they said that they had to do an even deeper inspection by taking the whole transmission apart and that would run us about $450 (but we wouldn't have to pay for the $150 from the other one). They assured us that once they did the inspection, whatever it cost to fix the transmission, they would take that amt off. So we agreed to let them do it. Once they did that inspection,...
...

I don't know how people are complaining of short tread life on the Murano. I have my tires rotated every ~10,000 miles and mine are just now ready to be replaced at 99,000 miles!! (Also, I don't know how people are complaining about the Murano either. My wife loves mine so much, she bought one too!)

The tire is quiet, smooth and has good all around traction, although it is wider than some and so doesn't bite as well in the snow.

I've owned other Goodyear tires in the past and swore to never buy them again, but these came on the car and I can't complain... I'm here to price a new set. From what I've read, other brands on the Murano are loud and some have terribly short life. I'm sticking with the OEM's.

I am not too happy with my Goodyear WeatherHandelers. I got a set of these on my Hyundai Tucson. Immediately I noticed that the ride was noticeably rougher. At highway speeds the car jitters and shakes now. I have had these tires rebalanced numerous times with no change.

The interstate road noise is very loud with these tires. I can barely talk to my passengers!

On the plus side, these tires handle as good as the Kumo's that were on it and stop quickly. On take off in the rain, however, these tires will tend to spind. I have a four-banger in the car so this shouldn't happen so much!

I do a lot of interstate driving and the shaking, rough ride and LOUD road noise is really too much to bear from a premium priced tire. I would definitely consider something else before buying these, or any Goodyear product.
...

'Just got a new (to me) car, and after shelling out the purchase price, who wants to spend a bundle on floor mats? (What is it with car dealers, that they don't include freekin' car mats when you buy a vehicle?)

So, I popped into my local (Sidney NY) K-Mart and ... surprise surprise... what an assortment to choose from! And all at really-not-bad prices.

Got a pair of the cheaper Weather Handler mats (I mean, who needs to spend more than ten or twelve bucks on something you're only gonna track dirt onto!) and, while I was in the aisle, picked up a holder for my GPS. It looks like it's intended for a car phone, but so much the better, what with so many people having their cars broken into for this how-did-we-get-along-without-it device.

Yeah, this was a nice shopping trip... in and out pretty quick. too. Unlike some recent visits, when I've found some sections of the store unstaffed, causing me to simply walk out without getting what I came in for. Bummer, that.

I have been fortunate that for 40 years I have owned the car of my dreams.... 1969 Corvette. She has been the most awesome car and goes when all the other cars punk out. I have always been able to depend on her. I purshased a battery when we in another city when the old battery decided that it was going to die. When we returned home, it still gave me problems of starting and the next tme, it would not even turn over. I finally descided to go to Sears. The gentleman who helped me determined that the battery that they installed was the wrong battery for my car. When we began the discussion of wich battery I shouod put into my car, he clearly told me the plus and the minus of each. When you have kept a car as long as I have, it does help in the discision on the quality and warrantee on the parts and replacement. I have been extremely happy with my purchase. AND I LOVE THE TERMINALS BEING ON TOP OF THE BATTERY! The 1969 battery always had the terminals on the side which...
...

jeb654 says "Very disappointed with the DieHard Portable Power 1150!" about DieHard Portable Power 1150 with Air Compressor, DC to AC Inverter, Outlets and Light

I bought 4 DieHard Portable Power 1150's for Christmas presents in 2007. One died after about 14 months; it had only been used twice. My daughter had hers about 2 years, it will no longer take a charge, she found out when she needed it the most, a dead battery in an airport parking lot coming back from a 10 day business trip late at night!

I notice the people who are writing good reviews have only had theirs a short period of time; I was happy with mine at first. Sears was no help whatsoever, replacement batteries are not available and they have no idea how to get them. I am saddened at how badly Sears has deteriorated as a company.

No stars!
...

cbalo450 says "take-em-back!!" about Bridgestone Weatherforce - P235/75SR15

I purchased a set of the weatherforce tires and was really disappointed. Especially after reading the glowing reports. I was only 1/2 mile down the road and it felt like I was riding over railroad tracks. One or more of the tires had a flat spot and was creating a tremendous vibration. I took the car back and they rotated the tires. Back out on the road and same vibration. Back again and they then rotated the tires on the rim and said I had a bad rim. Back out on the road and the vibration was still there. When I got out of the car again I noticed the rear rim had a weight on it the size of a butter knife ! It was at this point that I realized that the tire was at fault and not my car or the rim and I asked that Sears remove the tires and replace them with Michelins. Once the Michelins were on, I drove home without a hitch. The Weatherforce tires had been faulty all along and I seriously believe Sears knew this fact from the beginning, especially in light of the fact that one of the wheels...
...

mmusyimi says "The Oil change service was great BUT ...." about Oil Change Service

I took my car for an oil change at the Sears Auto Center. It was serviced quickly and I was able to gain possession of it sooner than I expeceted. I got the sales receipt and noted that some information was lacking that could lead to more sales for the company. The sales receipt could incorporate recommendation for future service e.g. we noted that your tires are going bald and so we recommend you get a new set of four tires (and oh, by the way, we have a great sale going on now whereby if you buy three tires you can get one free. Meanwhile getting 3 tires will cost you $???, would you like for us to schedule an appointment? I can have such recommendation at the back of my mind and, guess what, when I am ready to get new tires who will i think of first? No, not those other tire companies, I will come to Sears of course!! Some companies do this with great success and so I dont know why Sears shouldn't do it.
...
