irvleen says "not a good experience in buying an SX 10" about Canon - SX10 or SX20

On Nov. 16, 2009 I purchased a display model camera--the Canon SX 10--at your Garden City, N.Y. store for $244.93 plus tax [clearance price]. It was the last one available. The batteries in the camera were dead so I could not test it. When I got home and inserted new batteries, a message appeared on the LCD screen----"LENS ERROR". The camera did not function. I called Canon customer service and was told the camera could be repaired under the warranty but only if it had not been abused or dropped while it was on display. I had no intention of having it repaired even at no cost so soon after I bought it. Furthermore, Canon would probably charge since the camera was obviously damaged while on display.

I plan to be back in the Garden City store on Monday, Nov.23rd, to return the camera. I feel this was a waste of my time since it could have been avoided if the camera was tested by your personnel prior to a sale. Certainly live batteries should at least be available to test the product....
...

Had no intention of buying a television the day I did, but Jon, the salesman at Silver Lake Mall, in Coeur d'Alene, ID. told me the special sale they were having on the 52" Sony and that he could do a transfer sale which would allow me to pick up the shipment at Yakima, WA 300 miles away. I decided I'd buy it! The picture quality was great and my wife, who is visually impaired, could see and read it from the distance we would be viewing in our home. We had already decided we would buy one this year, but were considering a smaller unit. This was a good buy for us!
...

5 of 5 stars for the vampire and werewolf movie Underworld. I've seen this movie several times and continue to be amazed and the plot and visual look of the movie. Wow. I keep finding new subtle things in the movie overlooked in my first viewing. This movie is the starter for a 3 movie collection. Telling some of the history and moving forward with this story. Underworld and Underworld Evolution move the story further in time while the third movie tells the history of how we got here.

The story is about two races of beings, the upper class Vampires and the worker class Werewolves. In the old times, the races lived together in harmony, now they are at war. This story focuses on "a human" who we later learn has characteristics of both races and his blood is valuable to both races. Of course, our lead character (Kate Beckinsale) needs the help of a sleeping vampire lord. A very impressive movie with stunning visual look. Once you finish Underworld, keep on going with Evolution and Rise of...
...

I purchased the DVD/VHS combo as I wanted to be able to view both VHS tapes and DVD's on our new LG television. The price was great, even though I had to buy a special cable to use the device to its best ability. The biggest problem were the instructions for installation. I'm teckically challenged, so it was not too clear, and I had to use the trial and error method for the installation until I got it right. The istructions assumed I would know what the statement meant, but I often did not. It took me about three hours to get it installed, and checked out. Now, all I need is the time to watch some thing.
...

Great phone for the money. Really like the features this phone has, like being able to listen to messages with the handset. It always seemed like the voices were muffled with other phones. With this panasonic phone voices are very clear and not muffled. You can hear the answering machine loud and clear also. If you are in another room you will be able to hear who is leaving a message or if you choose you can lower the volume. The handset has a volume control which is a great feature. I would recommend this phone.
...

The Samsung 46" A650 is arguably one of the best tvs of its generation if not the best. It has everything you're looking for and when you see it in the store it just blows aways the competition. This tv makes you stop and take a second look. The picture is so amazing that it just jumps out at you and says buy me. You find yourself asking "is that a tv or am I looking through a window". Its that good! It also has a swivel which makes it convenient to pivot in any direction for ideal viewing angles. This was one of the first sets from Samsung to have the TOC or touch of color cabinet. Which means it has a soft red hue around the screen itselft. This tv looks as good off as it does on. The 650 also paved the way with 120hz technology which smooths out the action when a picture is moving quickly. This feature has become a must for anyone serious about purchasing a high definition tv today. I am hard pressed to find any faults in this ground breaking model from Samsung...
...

Was in my local Sears looking at DVD recorders and found a great one which was even on sale!

We bought the Sony DVD/VCR recorder combo. Now I can transfer my old VCR recordings of my children to new CD's!! This is a great way to preserve those memories that can't be replaced. And think of how great a Christmas present it would be. Plus I can record my favorite shows from my DVR to cd's at the touch of a button. I love Craft shows and with my DVR I can set up to record my shows when I am away and now I can burn them to a DVD on this recorder to keep and watch whenever i want too and pause/rewind if I miss something or need to see special techniques.

Installation was fairly simple and we even hooked up our DVR and surround sound system to it. Programming the system was really easy also and the on screen prompts were an added bonus also!

Setting the clock, programming shows and the ease of operating the system is great.

I was in the market to replace my previous laptop which my daughter wanted to use for college. My goal was to find on that I could use anywhere in the house and take with me to meetings. I liked the idea of a netbook which weighing in at under 3 pounds and with ample battery life could meet all of my portable computing needs. (I have a desktop running a dual core processor to do any heavy work.) After reading a number of reviews, I decided on the Asus 1000he based upon the N280 Atom processor, which is only marginally faster but uses less power, the WIFI support for 802.11 g/n, the keyboard which consistently received high marks for size and feel, and the battery which the manufacturer rates at 9.5 hours.

The Asus comes with Windows XP and can be easily set up to run Linux to maximize its capabilities. Other changing the operating system to Eeebuntu 3.0 and doing a very simple upgrade to 2 GB of ram (simply remove the easily accessable 1 GB chip and replace it with a 2 GB chip -- be careful...
...

Plasma TV due to the price and how clear the picture was. When we arrived home with the TV it was very easy to set up and light to lift up. We have had this TV for over a year and never had any problems with it. My two little girls ages 5 and 3 can operate the remote without any problems. I have never loved a TV before until we bought this one. Extremely happy with it and would recommend it over and over. You wont go wrong purchasing this TV. This is a must have for your home, you will love it just as much as I do.
...

I've had my Canon DC 210 for several months and have always been astounded by the great quality of the videos. Recently I vacationed in Niagara Falls where this compact digital video camera really showed me what it is capable of. Videos of the falls day and night were oustanding. Its ability to capture good quality videos in reduced lighting is amazing, given that this is not an expensive camera. Several times I had opportunity to test out the 35x optical zoom and the 1000x digital zoom. While the digital zoom leaves a lot to be desired, as do all digital zooms, the Canon was far better than any other I've seen. The video camera gave me videos that will make this vacation remain fresh and alive for many years to come. The mini-dvd memory consistantly gives me as much as 55 minutes of video, in spite of the fact that the instruction manual says not to expect more than 30 to 35 minutes. The rechargable battery has always been more than enough to record a full mini-dvd...
...

I love the feature to find the quickest way home with only two taps. It has gotten me out of many a confusing pickle. It has several ways you can search, by address, intersection, or category. It helps you find gas stations, hotels, restaurants, or any point of interest. It has very clear visuals on turns. It doesn't have text to speech, but it is very clearly marked and easy to read a street name, and you can zoom it too. It is the most feature packed GPS for the price.
...

I have an iPod so I can't get the most out of the audio output but my Shure SE210's are great. Rather than canceling sound, it isolates it in your ears. The buds do well to drown out the outside noise. The bass isn't what one usually expects out of earphones as these are more for audiophiles or musicians in drowning out the other sounds and just hearing their own. Besides, earbuds will never be able to produce the bass to our liking... they're just too small. These are VERY durable, they come with a 2 year warranty and the sound quality is top notch.
...

I upgraded the software for $5 on iTunes and it's pretty much a third generation iPod Touch now. The games and apps are vast and though it doesn't have the BEST audio quality, it is still very solid. Also, the internet function is great but the only drawback is that it is confined to areas that get Wi-Fi (if you can connect to it). Overall, a great user-friendly media player! It's pretty much the iPhone without the thickness, camera, and ability to make calls.
...

I remember those old Polaroid instant pictures where you waved it around in the air after you peeled off the backing...being very careful not to get the goo on your cloths. Well this isn't it, and a product that has enterprise applications in addition to kid fun.

It's basically a 2" x 3" color printer that can be hooked up via bluetooth or USB. I should caution you in that you MUST have a device that has a full bluetooth printer profile on it, and NOT all phones can use it. (check the compatibility list first at http://www.polaroid.com/Products/Polaroid+PoGo/Compatibility/Compatibility/1390 )

I use a mac and it's great...I've just been setting up templates in Photoshop and drop in pictures of my students, and a 2D color bar code with a link to their info page. (www.microsoft.com/tag) The "send" the file via bluetooth to the Pogo...it's magnificent and even exposed to lots of sunlight and abused horribly, they've been lasting about a year before I have to change it.

This is the software that you can install on just about any standard PC and turn it into a first class home server. What makes it unique is its ability to utilize dynamic DNS (aka no matter what address your ISP gives you, you can always find it through this service) to come back into your server through a web browser and access both your files and your computers. With backup for up to 10 machines, and the ability to auto upload your pictures to picasa, flickr, and other photo sharing services this system is actually a pretty good fit even for small business. If you combine it with something like the IOSafe fireproof USB hard drive, you can automatically backup the server to something that can survive a house fire.

cheebert says "Robot Camera" about Canon - PowerShot A550 digital camera

While not for the beginner, you can add a free open source piece of software called CHDK to the SD Flash card on this camera and add a whole new realm of features normally only found on very expensive DSLR cameras used for scientific inquiry.

http://chdk.wikia.com/wiki/CHDK

I've been using it to take time lapse (intervelometry) photos of rare plant species to study their growth, pollinators, and grazers (who eats them). You can also to motion sensing and tailor the sensitivity so that motion only in certain areas of the screen will trigger it.

While this "how to video" on you tube is a bit condescending, it's a very good step by step on how to setup CHDK on most of the point and shoot Canon Cameras.

NorgeH says "Always looking for a good product at a good price!" about LG - 47 in. (Diagonal) Class 1080p 240Hz LED Backlit LCD HD Television

We bought the LG 47" Led tv on a Saturday for $1999.99...it went on sale on Sunday for $1299.99. Sears did a price adjustment on the Tv when we went to pick it up with no questions asked. What a deal. The TV picture is awsome and I am so happy with the fact that the screen has virtually no reflection on it from other sources in the room. Our 42" Plasma TV just died so..we wanted something different. This picture is comparable if not better than our plasma ever was! It looks great too! Best buy we have made in awhile.

blondy038 says "Samsung 40" TV is great and so is Sears!" about Samsung - LN40B530P7N

On 10-31-09, my husband and I purchased a 46" Samsung television with the understanding we cannot get high definition in our area. We tried everything, switching Direct TV boxes, changing everything on the menu, even having a Direct TV technician come to the house to improve the image of the set. Nothing worked. We spoke to Brian, whom we bought the TV from, and told him of our problem.

Yesterday, 11-09-09, we returned the larger set in exchange for a 40" set. We couldn't be happier. We don't have crystal clarity picture, which we expected, but having the smaller set the imperfections we were seeing on the 46" set are minimal. Brian was also able to waive the restocking fee as per the department manager.

I've been a loyal Sears customer since the 80's and make all my large purchases at Sears. Once again I am very pleased with the service received from Brian (cudos), the quality of our TV and understanding and respect of your managers. Sears is #1 in my book for shopping...
...
