I love gadgets, but this one was so easy to use I bought them for all my family for Christmas. Everyone has their own reasons for loving it, but no one leaves home without it. I have owned mine for 2 years now, and use it often, both locally and long distance. I love the feature to find the quickest way home with only two taps. It has gotten me out of many a confusing pickle. It has several ways you can search, by address, intersection, or category. It helps you find gas stations, hotels, restaurants, or any point of interest. It has very clear visuals on turns. It doesn't have text to speech, but it is very clearly marked and easy to read a street name, and you can zoom it too. It is the most feature packed GPS for the price.
...

The Garmin Nuvi 265WT has a nice sized touch screen. It's quite intuitive, making it easy to set up. The only reason I'm not giving it 5 stars is because I'd like to have an option available to set how far ahead I'd like to be notified of upcoming turns and/or exits, particularly when I'm on a crowded highway and need "advance notice" to prepare to exit because I have to get over to a different lane.

When we went on a vacation, we benefited from the ease of adding customized POI's to this device. It is loaded with just about everyplace, from coffee to site seeing to shopping that you'd want to go to.

During my strictly 'educational' use of the 8500 to monitor its reactions to CVS Pharmacy's automated doors, my study was repeatedly and consistently interrupted by law enforcement vehicles equipped with Radar devices. Frustrated, I tried to voice my concerns at the local police department, only to be informed that the Radar-guns were being used by cops to trap speeding drivers and issue them tickets. :-(

Till date, these WMTs (Weapons of Mass Taxation) have interfered with, and skewed the results of my ongoing research. :-)

I bought the Escort - Passport 8500 Radar Detector in September 2008 from BestBuy, with a 2-year Service Contract. It was the best deal I could find at the time, since 'deal' websites were offering a discount, but charging more for shipping.

The friendly associate asked me if I would like to 'upgrade' to an 8500 with a Blue LED display, instead of the standard Red, for 'only' $50. Strangely, he refused my counter-offer of beach-front property in Nevada. I don't recommend......

My poor bride of 40 years has been replaced!! I better clarify that she has been replaced by a sweet sounding British Lady on my Garmin205 who leads me where ever I want or need to go. My bride no longer has to refer to a map and tell me which way to turn. We travel quite extensively in our retirement years and as I toodle down the highway (we travel a lot on two lane highways to avoid the monotony of the interstates) my British(you can program the dialects) lady sweetly tells me turn left or right. If I make a wrong turn she goes into her "recalculating mode" letting me know I have disobeyed her latest command. Sometimes I think I even hear a bit of frustration in her voice as I veer onto the wrong road. My sweetie takes me to motels, restaurants, points of interest, manages detours at highway construction, gas stations, etc. She even can zoom in and out at the touch of a finger. I have the portable model so I can take her in whichever of the two cars I drive:) If we......

We got this for my mother for Christmas since she does a lot of travel for business and kept having to call my father at work for mapquest directions when she got lost. She LOVES her Mio Moov and finds it really easy to use. It's also very safety conscious and warns you if you hold it up in a way that could block your view.

I also like this one because it has "text to speech" meaning it tells you the street name coming up. Many GPS devices don't do this. Most just say "turn left in 200 ft" but don't say "turn left in 200 ft--State Street." When you're in a new place or have crazy intersections with diagonals, having the street name is really useful.

The Mio Moov is also a great bargain. Most GPS's with Text to Speech are really expensive. This one was affordable and easy to use.
...

I would not trade my Garmin200W car GPS for the world. It is so easy to travel with it as I now am not a lost person on the highways. It takes you from your driveway to the driveway of the person or place of your destination in record time as it gives you ETA and is always correct. It gives a woman such as myself a strong feeling of sucurity as I am driving to places I have never been before .Easy to read ,nice clear bright screen, and very easy to drop all sections into my purse while going in to eat while on the road. The price was reasonable and the first time I used it on a 7 hour trip,it paid for itself, and I named it, I call it Angel because "she"directed me straight to the driveway of my sister's home in Alabama from Ohio with no backtracking at all ,as I used to do. The Garmin is the one I tell all my female friends about who travel,I am a believer in it....

I bought my magellan Maestro about a year and a half ago. It is great when you are in a new town and need to find things. I like it features and it is fairly easy to use. My children think it is funny becuase it talks and tells me things. Always use your brain and think if it is not safe dont do it. Because it is just a machine and can make mistakes but I feel it was worth the money we have gotten a lot of use out of ours and our looking forward to beable to travel more and use it more when the gas price go back down and make it so we can afford to go for drives just to fine new places. Well worth the cost....

I love my Magellan RoadMate 1430! It has an automated female voice that gives me plenty of advance warning about what I need to do to plan my next driving move. "She" has become such a great help that I now call "her" "Maggie."

The features I have found most helpful are: the loud and clear voicing; the large, easy to see map; and the ability to search for the closest points of interest to wherever I am (like the nearest gas station or Pete's Coffee).

It is super easy to program and get a listing of the actual directions to get to my destination. I also love that the points of interest function has phone numbers, so I can call places like restaurants or movie theaters in advance.

While I was driving home on a long road trip, the gas tank was running low. I asked Maggie to find the closest gas station and she found one at the next turn-off that I would have never seen from the freeway. Whew! It was such as relief!

I took a trip to Napa Valley, used the points of interest function to find different......

The Garmin StreetPilot c330 GPS receiver is an economical and portable. It tells you when to turn and in which direction, but doesn't name the street. It has an SD memory slot which allows you to install additional maps or new waypoints. The biggest problem with this GPS is that the suction cup doesn't stay attached to the windshield for more than an hour or two before it comes unstuck. The dashboard attachment disk (a smooth disk with an adhesive backing) did not stick to the dash at all....

My gps gives me the confidence to drive in the big city areas w/o the worries of getting lost. My daughter age 8 can program maggie w/ ease so you can do it too. I have ran into a few occasional glitches w/ maggie but they have been few and far between. Worth every cent. I have only used half of the features so far but it is easy to learn and I look forward to the trip planner feature. If you get one, go on an adventure w/ your kids.
I bought 2 Garmin Nuvi 670 's for my sons -- and wow.. how great they are! Sure have come in handy on a ton of occasions! I didn't realize just how much use WE would all get out of them! Not that we travel alot. But even for just traveling a few towns away, they sure come in handy. and not to mention they 'talk' to you which is a great feature. Then to top it all off.. my cousin has one too, and we took a road trip to Texas! from Boston... and it took us there without a hitch! We named her "Emma"! and we just talked to her all the way there. Told her what a great job she was doing! hehe.. we never got lost.. IF we took a wrong turn, Emma would tell us! And get us right back on track again. You just can't beat that!...

Don't get lost again and leave the nagging husband at home! Tom Tom replaced my "hubby hubby". I can leave him and his directions at home and take the new man in my life along. No more complaining while waiting in the car while I browse stores or take a new route home. I took the GPS on a few test trips around winding country roads and have no complaints. For you city folk, I recommend the upgraded device that dictates street names, but for those who just want something to help them get to places unknown, this is a great piece of technology. I love that you can customize the icons, voices, and views. and if you decide to make a different turn, it readjusts the route within seconds. The only thing that I'm not quite happy about is that the suction cup doesn't stick that well, so I'm going to get the upgrade to vent mount it. But, if your car windows are cleaner than mine are, you will be fine. It does come with a mount that has a suction cup attachment so that might work better but since......

The Garmin Magellan RoadMate 1200 doesnt look from the outside to have all the bells and whistles, but once hooked up beats ALL others in price and quality! I searched and searched for 6 months trying to find my daughter a GPS for Christmas and, to be honest, i didn't have a clue when I started looking. They all looked the same to me. I figured I could just get the cheapest one and she would be happy. Well, I bought the first one, on sale (what a steal!!) for $29.95. I thought yay! all done with her shopping. Then she calls. "oh don't forget mom, it just HAS to be a touch screen or I'll just DIE!) Well, here we go, searching for a new GPS and taking the other back. Ok, so I find one for $39.99 and it has touch screen! I come home SO excited and get the call. "Don't forget mom, it just HAS to have as many points of interest as they come or I'll just DIE on my road trip this summer!" Ok, here we go again. It's starting to snow, in Portland, Oregon. Hmm, it probably won't snow that much, so......

We got this GPS as a gift for Christmas. After a long road trip of using an Atlas and the GPS on our iPhones, we decided that we needed a real GPS for the car. This was particularly true when we were driving through areas that did not have cell service and being in the middle of no where with no land marks and we wanted to know how far we were from our next destination.

It does not seem to be able to locate us if we are in a building (like when we first opened it we were in the house, or in a parking garage) and since we park in the garage at night we have to remember to stop the car long enough for it to locate us.

If you miss a turn or go a different way intentionally while getting directions somewhere, it recalculates your new route quickly, which is great, however in playing with it in our neighborhood we've noticed it sometimes picks a longer route rather than a shorter one.

The only other drawback is the exclude feature, where you try to remove something from your route. ...
...

I travel a lot and can find my way with ease not only around the area but also when I travel outside of this state. I would recommend the Garvin Nuvi because you can always upgrade to include a more recent map when needed. This was an easy experience for me who is technically challenged.

With SAFETY in mind, I bought the Nuvi 670 for the hands-free capabilities. Rather than buying a hard-wired after market hands free cell phone kit, I got the GPS features too. GPS is great for traveling, especially to new areas. But the hands-free lacks a little sophistication. It transmits through the FM channel that you choose, whichever is the best frequency match. I've found that when traveling, the particular FM that you're on may pick up radio stations in different parts of the country. Which requires you to change the FM setting to something that's more suitable to the area that you are in.

Otherwise - it's great and those that rode with me wished they had one too.
...

I walked into Sears on the advice of a friends purchase the night before, and walked out a very happy man. I spent a little over 200 bucks for two GPS units, one being the Garmin NUVI 350 which is fast and accurate, and a Canon digital camera. Display model clearance prices were incredible. I also happened to walk past the tools section and couldn't help but notice all the sale prices on table saws that I have wanted to purchase for the last 6 months but couldn't afford at Lowes. Sears you rock. Garmin YOU rock. I will type in Sears into the saved locations and return more often. Thanks guys. ...

gail13 says "TomTom is a versatile user-friendly global monitoring device." about TomTom - One GPS Navigation System

The TOM TOM global monitoring device is versatile and easy to use. My experience with local driving has been practical, accurate, and humorous. Tom Tom can speak in a variety of accents and takes nothing for granted. Upon returning to my car from having had lunch at a restaurant, I started the car's engine. Before I could change gears, the TOM TOM assertively reminded me to back out of the parking space before continuing... The capability the TOM TOM has to change directions is mind-boggling, especially when the car is already in motion. I've lived too long without this fabulous device and now I take it everywhere I go!

...

KarenRenee says "I can throw away the atlas now that I have my Garmin 200 GPS " about Garmin - Nuvi 200W Car GPS

I am the navigator and used to always be uptight and worried we would make the wrong turn and drive for miles and sometimes hours without realizing it. Now that we have the Garmin 200 GPS, I can throw all the maps out the window, relax and have a great time traveling; whether on a long trip or just across town. I love the way she tells you what turns to make and when. If you make a wrong turn, you know about it right away and she tells you how to correct it. Need to know where the next rest area is, or looking for a certain restaurant; just ask the Garmin 200 GPS and it will take you right to it, turn -by -turn. I have tried other brands and they don't tell you in time or they are very confusing, especially on highways with many exits. The Tom-Tom is very annoying, constantly beeping and alerting you for now reason. Garmin is the way to go where ever you want....
